The year is 2027. The mercenaries never attacked Sarif, so Megan Reed made it to Washington and presented her research, making augmentations much safer and more affordable (Still a bit pricey).
Would you become an augmented human being, possibly sacrificing your humanity to better your abilities?

Most certainly. As long as the weren't a giant pain in the ass to have (like say, if a robotic arm wouldn't be as functional with precision hand movements, or I had to recharge or have the augments inspected often).

~ I've thought about the phrase 'Money is the root of all evil' and I have to disagree. Evil isn't dependant on an object. I say that want is the root of all evil.
I'd probably make small changes like having a digital clock that only I can see located on my retina. I would see the date and time no matter where I went.

If you're talking Deus Ex,(still haven't played it yet...) then no. Even if you're not, it'd still be no. I'd never give up my humanity. Humans may not be perfect, but I'm damn well happy to be one.
Absolutely(if I could afford it). I would like some better eyes, more durable legs, stronger arms, perhaps more versatile and maintainable organs, and perhaps a better casing for my brain. A skull works well enough, but it could be better. It should be better considering what it's protecting.
Depends on how much it would cost. There are a lot of things that would be neat to have, but how many would really be worth it? I could sure do with an enhanced photographic memory.

I really do not believe it would be ethical to do so, nor would I feel safe in any way relying completely on a mechanism for my life. If it failed, I would die. There's no way to guarantee that I would be safe and that the machine would be error free.

Bands I listen to: Brain Drill, Decapitated, Beneath the Massacre, The Faceless, Impending Doom, and Becoming the Archetype. If anyone knows of clean (lyrics-wise) technical death metal bands, please let me know.
Now, now, children, your uncle DethPotato is here to tell you to be nice to each other regardless of each others' opinions. He is also coming here to tell you to either make a new thread regarding this topic, or get back on the main topic of this thread. Or, you could slightly change the topic of this thread so that your current discussion fits.
Everyone has seen the very numerous threads bashing the various features of 1.9, Notch, Mojang, etc. Can we turn down the hating? Just a little bit? Sure, everyone may not be pleased with enchanting, or potions, but really, is it at all realistic to expect that Notch will undo his work from the past several weeks and take these features out? One, that would infuriate far more players than it might pacify, and two, something like that is completely unprecedented in a game as popular as Minecraft. Complete feature removal? Forget about it. Nobody is forcing you to use enchantments and potions.
.
Adding an XP bar does NOT, I repeat NOT turn Minecraft into an RPG. An RPG, to quote the dictionary, is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting and take those characters through a structured narrative or structured decision making.
.
Fantasy elements are often found in RPGs, but the reverse is NOT true. Fantasy != RPG. XP bar + minor fantasy elements does not and WILL NEVER equal an RPG in Minecraft, since Minecraft is completely devoid of a plot whatsoever.
.
Finally, at the end of the day, you have to give Notch and Mojang some credit for what they have accomplished. Minecraft has over 3 million users. If Mojang was making bad gameplay decisions, why is Minecraft one of the most popular video games of all time? Because Mojang knows what they are doing. The success of Minecraft is testament to it.
.
tl;dr: If you cannot come up with a completely valid reason for claiming that 1.9 ruins Minecraft, please keep your mouth shut.

As I understand it, your life wouldn't have to depend on it. A few people already have an RFID chip implanted in their hand, which allows them to more conveniently interface with technology in their daily lives. Such an implant could be used to unlock doors, turn lights on and off as you move from room to room, turn on your computer, and numerous other such things. Simple augmentations such as that could serve to make life easier without much risk to the user.

Would I accept transhumanism into my life, my body? Hells yes, give it to me.
I'd love a connection to the internet in my head . I could browse websites, listen to music and watch videos in my head, as quickly as I can think. I'd control it with my thoughts, and it'd be able to offer up audio or visual stimuli on the same canvas I use as if I were imagining things. There'd be no concerns about hacking or crazy mind-control nonsense since the software would be limited to the functionality of a browser. It wouldn't run other things. It'd be like a stripped down version of the Google chrome netbook in my head.
Being able to make calls or send texts with it would also be neat. Access to Google docs would be awesome.
Nonetheless, i'd augment my brain, if that would be possible. Perhaps do something with my neural system and my senses. Enhance them all past human capabilities.

If you answered Yes, then where?

I would personally do something not to big, like my left arm or something. Maybe have it decorated like David Sarif has his.
Well, pretty much anything that doesn't change my appearance TOO much, but everything else is fair game.

Then I'd have an excuse for blurting out "I never asked for this" every twelve seconds. Which reminds me...
I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS
Yes.
...maybe not everything.
Steam: RobotDeathParty
With the ponies, eh?
I would get rockets in my feet so I could fly around town and say,
"I FREAKING ASKED FOR THIS!"
ahhh no.. I'm not THAT obsessed.
Good. Rochambo scares me sometimes*.
