American shows are more comedy oriented, while Jap ones are more serious. They both have their benefits.

Japanese, hands down. I just like the style, humor and stories more than Standard western animation. Hence why i haven't watched much western animation lately. (Last one i watched was The last airbender)

Don't message me on either of these, unless you have a really good reason.
I personally prefer American animation. All Japanese anime I have seen thus far looks the same.
It may seem that way, and a lot of B grade animations do look the same, but there are still a lot of anime that really stand out: Karas, Fairy Tale/Soul Eater, Appleseed, Studio Ghibli to mention a few.
I like dark, eerie, well drawn animation. Be it either the old american "Bluth" animation, or the kind used in shows such as Batman TAS.
But most of the time Anime takes the cake.
If you like dark, eerie and well drawn, watch Karas. It includes beautifully intricate animations, but there's a lot of gore in it, so it's probably rated M. (Frequent Animated Voilence) or possibly MA15+. (unlikely though)
Is that screenshots of the anime? It looks quite intriguing.
Yes, those are screenshots of Karas, not promotional posters. (i avoided the promo poster art because i wanted to show the anime's actual art, not some enhanced version)

It certainly looks different. A bit more gloomy than most animes : p
By animation quality alone, Japanese animation is pretty much unchallenged.
For the show as a whole, well... depends on the show. Some animes are just weird, some are pretty good. For American animation, some are good, and some are just plain stupid.

Colored text indicates in-character statements/actions. Because Forum Games has basically just been a big open RP for a long time now and it's the only place I ever post anymore, when I post at all.

It is different. The anime also doesn't get bogged down with:
"OMG my new move is going to own you"
"Oh yeah? I dont think it will"
"Yes it will because (explains full details of move here)"
"Well that would work if i didnt have (explains secret ability)"
"OMG i think im still going to win"
"No you're not"
(insert 5 minutes of staring eachother down, wind blowing and camera moving slowly from left to right from behind each character, then show each spectatings character's face one at a time, very slowly)
This means that the 3 hours of the anime is mostly filled with beautiful artwork, with a couple scenes of people saying confusing things that all make sense at the end of the series.
The anime is confusing at first, and the storyline makes you go "wah?" and the not explaining of moves means you get to use your imagination to think up what could be the possible strengths and weaknesses of the characters moves and abilties (They seem to be able to freeze time, some characters can move in this frozen time while others can't, Karas can move at light speed but this all depends on what opponent he is facing, and his raven ability seems to own everything, if he can complete it)
But there are so many "AHA!" moments and mysteries that unravel along the line of the movie/series (idk what it is) and that's what i like about an anime. (thats why i loved chobits so much)

FTFY. The alligator is supposed to eat the greater one.
Anime is more to my liking than a lot of American animations. The art style used is one I find very appealing.
So you've taken to lying to yourself and others?

It's Japanese animation, btw.
Yeah, this, although American animation has a lot of different forms. Some are good, but some I don't like at all.

Ahh. I understand. I think i'll give it a try.
They usually have them done over seas and it gets put all together back at the studio.
