Dantevortex, the last time a major Super Volcano erupted, it was Mt. Toba. IT killed off 90+% of the human population at the time. We went down to 12,000 people world wide.
It nearly wiped us as a species out. Yellowstone will be close to it in terms of power.
Yeah, it's more than just 2 years of blackouts world wide. Try a lot longer, if Yellowstone erupts.
The meteor that killed off the dinosaurs caused a blackout if you will for a lot longer than 2 years.
As for the moon, the Earth moon system is kept in balance.
If the moon explodes, there will be tons of large rocks hitting us from the Moon. :smile.gif: Millions if not billions of people will die.
The tides will cease. We will never have surfing again. :smile.gif:
Earthquakes might not cease, the tectonic plates should be still active.
The Moon slows us down a bit every so often, eventually it would escape from the Earth's gravitational pull, or freeze at a certain distance, causing Earth to have 30 day long nights. :smile.gif:
And 30 day long days.
So, without the moon, the Earth might speed up.
But yeah, the damage caused by the loss of the moon is far greater than minor irritations.
Also, if the moon is pushed farther away from the Earth at too great of a speed, the disruption could cause the Earth to undergo the 30 days of day/night long before it should. :smile.gif:
If the moon gets too close to the Earth, the Earth will be torn apart by the gravitational disruption. Also, massive earthquakes would tear the continents asunder.
Earthquakes that makes a 9.9 look like a 1.1. :smile.gif:

I have Asperger's Syndrome, a mental disorder of the Autistic Spectrum, apologies in advance if my posts seem a bit off.
You're forgetting that also without are moon, the Earths axis will tip wildly out of control, causing extremely dangerous weather that life can't adapt to fast enough, causing everything to die.
And it won't be the end of the world in 2012. It's just he year the Mayan Calender restarts. Don't worry.

Ah, 2012. The year where a lot of dates occur.
Start of the Solar Maximum, and the Age of Aquarius.

i saw that in failblogs(it could be fake but meh) made me lol :laugh.gif: but my point is i dont really believe that the world is going to end in 2012, the only things i think that could "end" the world is a sudden geologic cataclysmic event like a big meteor or a global earthquake.
I laugh at the people that are selling bunker space for 2012. Hey the irrational theory is that everyone dies, there was no exceptions for some schmucks in a bunker.
Really, I think that someone was bored and made on tiny post on the right forum board and people freaked. It really wouldn't surprise me, that's how most regular rumors start.
The Earth will keep rotating without life just fine. Look at Mars. nearest ball of dust bigger than the moon, and it rotates good enough to me. :tongue.gif:
They still haven't found out why it's "wrong". I just say something bumped into it long ago to make it rotate the other way. Gravitational momentum as of today keeps it moving that way.
Anyway, we don't know what's really going on on Venus, except that it is always clouded and we can't see much through that epic cloud. The things we did see show something like mars, but molten and about 500 degrees Celcius. Dust will no longer be dusty, but a liquid.
What would happen if we built a giant microwave in space and put Venus inside it? We should request that to Jpizzle.
I have no desire of beliveing 2012 ANYMORE, Notredameus (i think thats how you spell it) Predicted ove 40,000 predictions, and only 1 was correct. So im not buying this "end of the world" crap. No hate but nice topic aswell :smile.gif:
You're forgetting that also without are moon, the Earths axis will tip wildly out of control, causing extremely dangerous weather that life can't adapt to fast enough, causing everything to die.
It'd take millions of years for the Earth's axis of rotation to change significantly without the tidal interactions with the moon. I can pretty well guarantee that not everything would die, weather wouldn't really be any more dangerous, and life would be able to adapt plenty fast enough. I don't know where you got this from, but it's sensationalist nonsense. Yes, the moon helps stabilize the Earth's axis of rotation. Yes, this influenced the development of life on Earth. That's it. It doesn't mean that Earth would suddenly become deadly.

The prevailing explanation has to do with gravitational perturbations from other planets and tidal effects on its atmosphere. It's likely that when it initially formed it had a much higher rotational period and tilt, but gradually changed to what we see today.

Never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by incompetence.
All of those false prophecies should REALLY ****ing stop, right now, they're as good as murder.
People are killing themselves because of ******** like this.
For example, Rapture, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT IT, I just lived my life without worries.. However, and I don't care if even less than 5 people killed themselves over this, it didn't happen, if a person wouldn't know about it, he would live his life.
I rephrased that a bit wrong.. eh, I think you got my point.
Everyone will be so confused when it's suddenly 2013 after New Year's.
It nearly wiped us as a species out. Yellowstone will be close to it in terms of power.

Alright, the Mayan Calendar ends, maybe they ran out of paper room?
Think of all the other times they predicted the apocalypse.
How tons of people killed themselves, yet the next day, the world still stayed intact.
If the world didn't end in 2000 with the Y2K bug, it's not going to end next year.

What about Venus, which rotates the wrong way?
/sarcasm
Sure thing.
What would happen if we built a giant microwave in space and put Venus inside it? We should request that to Jpizzle.
I do know every time we set a date it doesn't happen, do you really think we can predict this thing on the dot?
Humans have plagued the Earth, and the Earth will do what it needs to do to replenish and rebalance itself.

Where is your source?
And no, it's a bunch of crap on a stick, won't happen.
Panickers will be the only harm done.

I bet like 10 people 100 bucks that the world wont end, and if it does I wont have to pay
