Of course I would accept. I shall raise an empire, control the world! With all the knowledge I possess, I shall be the wisest of them all! I will also make some kick ass muffins.
Immortality?
Why, of course I would say yes. Who wouldn't?
Selfish people.
That's right, selfish people.
Only selfish people would say no.
Why?
Because they don't care about anyone else. They would rather die than take a moment to consider the people who love them, the people that rely on them, and the people that could use them.
Selfish people would just say no and die, forgetting about everything else.
Selfless people would say yes.
They would say yes and help the world.
They would spend their infinite time to stop the destruction of the human race, which has a (albeit low) chance to be the only sentient beings in existence.
They would strive to perfect humanity, and advance it with their infinite knowledge.
They would work towards a better world, whereas selfish people would say no and let it rot along with them.
Yes, that's right; you give up immortality and you are the most selfish thing in existence.

Everyone you mention would be dead in 70 years. They would only have lived after your death for around 20 at the most. I don't think you know what selfish means.
Not like one immortal being could change the world and species anyway. Most likely they'd spend the remainder of the Earth's time in a lab being experimented on, waiting for a rogue space rock to hit the Earth and free them. That would lead to floating in space for a long time.

Woa woa woa, woa woa woa.
Woa.
Woa man. Chill out man.
That wouldn't happen. They would really only need one sample if they even decided to experiment on you. Maybe even a blood test. Being trapped in a lab and tortured is what you would expect to see in a movie.

They can't vivisect your blood. I'm almost positive that someone would be waiting, scalpel in hand, to cut you open and poke around. A sample could do certain things, but if they found nothing in it, they would want the origin of the sample.
But if you don't like that, there are other crappy scenarios. Being in a big building one day and it collapses on you, trapping you under rubble. Being in a boat and going overboard, swimming for years trying to find land somewhere. Being in a plane that goes down over the water. Victim of a nuclear bombing. Meteor hits earth. Some sort of natural disaster, such as one that could sweep you out to sea. The number of things that can trap your body is seemingly endless, and the longer you live, the better chance you have to fall victim to one of them. And in the bigger scale, the chances of becoming trapped in space are pretty good.
I would take it. I could play my video games forever. My family would die but I would eventually get over it. And if I did want to not live, I could hang myself. I would go unconscious and not wake up due to not being able to breath as long as no one unhangs me.
Yes. I would. I have too much life to live "one life" it would be nice to fulfil every dream, and experience life to the fullest. I have too many responsibilities in this life time to do that, so if I get to have "another" chance or many, then theres no question, I would do it.

The thing to think about: is it a double bluff?
The man comes to you, asking if you want immortality.
You say yes.
You become immortal, but you are a blind, deaf, mute, and immobile.
It's like one of those TV Tropes: I have no mouth and I must scream.
If it is like this, then I'll just wait for the Singularity.
If it's not like this, then, I'm going to dive right in.
Geeze guys stop thinking about yourselves...
Think! You don't want to live for ever because you don't want to see your family and friends die
WHAT ABOUT YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY???
They also don't want to see you die either, so you take the immortality and then poof!!!
They wont be sad by just that little bit more since you cannot die!!

Entirely irrational idea is entirely irrational. As I said, they won't live very long after you die. You want to live for trillions of years to save them a couple measly decades of being without you. I mean, it isn't like they won't get over your death, people do it every day. If that's your only reason for choosing immortality, I suggest you rethink the matter.
