Logic:
Zero is nothing. Thus, if you divide something into zero groups, there are no groups. Thus, it equals zero.
Math:
Inverse operations. You have 7%0. Simply do the inverse of that. Thusly, it is 0*7, which we all know as zero. Logic dictates, that, since 0 = 0, then anything divided by zero is zero.
The Black Hole Theory:
Divisions by zero cannot be applied to physical space. It is impossible. Thus, if somebody successfully divided by zero in physical space rather than logic...
I know, I'm not the first person to figure it out.
EDIT: This thread is what happens whenever I forget to sign out before my brother gets on. While the theory itself seems logical, his way of explaining it... *facepalm*
It's impossible. Theirs no consensus on it. Maybe if Steven Hawkings says so, but until then, it's all up in the air.
Stephen Hawking says a lot of things that are not conclusive, and there's quite some debate in the Scientific community over some of his stuff. (Read the Black Hole War if you haven't already, it's interesting, although hard to understand at parts.) Not that he doesn't have a reason for publishing theories with incomplete evidence; he's dying after all, but just because Hawking says so does not make it true.
And yes, anything divided into zero groups amounts to nothing, or ERROR if you use a calculator.
EDIT: Oh, Omninoob is right, as far as I can tell. Eeh.
You can't take a quantity and divide it into zero groups. It just can't work, you need at least one group for the quantity to be go anywhere. I don't think your logic is very sound.
Explain scientifically how you can stand at one side of the room, and take only enough movement to halve your distance from the far wall, and never reach the other side. Child's play, really, but a semi-fun concept.

Divisions by zero cannot be applied to physical space. It is impossible.
That being said, it is MENTALLY possible, as the boundaries of the thought are not limited.
Your "logical" explanation has nothing to do with dividing by zero. It's just talking about when x/y=0 (dividing x into 0 groups)
If that percent sign is supposed to be a division sign, then the mathematical way doesn't work. 7/0 does not equal 0/7. A fraction does not equal its reciprocal. By that logic, a half equals two.
Edit: I made a mistake in understanding that but it's still wrong. x/y does not equal y*x
You can't divide by zero. There's no special secret to it or anything. There's just no way to do it, and you physically can't divide something into finite groups of zero, so there's no reason why you ever would have to divide by zero. It doesn't mean the world will end if you do it. You just can't do it.
Now now people, there is no reason to try and poke holes at his black-hole theory, I mean seriously, it already has a gaping black hole. But in all seriousness, you others are right; there IS NO REASON TO DIVIDE BY ZERO. That being said, it's a CONCEPT. There is no reason to put it into real life, because it is, in and of itself, a theory. He can't prove that you can divide by zero, since his theory states it can't physically be done, just as you can't prove you can't, since no one's ever done it. A "catch 22" if you will. Still, it's here for debate, so by all means, debate.
If I asked how many 5s there were in 20, you would say 4.
How about if I asked how many 0s there were in 5?
Exactly.
Zero is undefined.
It is impossible to divide by zero.
You can not divide something of which the value is known, such as 20, by something of which the value is not defined, such as 0.

Yes, but I'm far from the first to figure it out.

It's a damn shame that the quotient is how many of each things are in a group, not how many groups there are.

javascript:alert(10/0)
Output:
Infinity
I guess it makes sense because it would take an infinitely large number multiplied by 0 to reach 10.
7 / 0 = X
What you really have to solve is this:
0 * X = 7
What times zero is equal to seven? That is your answer.

Also, your "inverse operations" crap is ********.
Try to prove me wrong. You will not succeed.
I have 3 apples, I want to divide them by zero.
Suddenly, all of the apples disappeared.
this is not logical
the answer is: it doesnt work because it doesnt make sense. learn to paradox.
