Oh god... It is just as bad with 13 year-old girls that text all the time saying
"Hi geina i gota go rite naow cuz i gota go take t dog 4 walk k bai cya"
I don't mean to sound like some old English teacher, but this is going WAY too far.
Besides, I recently started to use Google Chrome and it comes with a spell-check. That always helps me out!
Spelling is becoming an increasingly ignored skill. Which is quite a shame because that's not going to look well in the eyes of colleges and employers. When it comes to texting I throw the laws of spelling and grammar out the window because hey, texting is meant to be a quick and convenient form and I'm used to needing to pack as much info in as few letters as possible. However otherwise I have a natural inclination to use good spelling and grammar. It's just how I've been raised and I've stuck to it. I can't stand when I have to try and decipher text that is poorly spelt and arranged. It just sucks.
On that note, Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
I'm not speaking about what is "right" and "wrong" in the context of morals. You may assume, based on someone's grammar, that he lives in the ghetto, is uneducated, and is a delinquent. However, what if he lives in a rich family, goes to a private school, and has never committed a single crime? Then your assumptions are wrong. I don't think there's much more to it.
Yes, but then it becomes something like the rich white kid dressing 'ghetto'. And that's something completely different.
It's mostly text-talking. They don't want to take too much time spelling and checking their grammar, they just want to get their point accross. I spell perfectly, but most of the time I text-talk. Lots of kids can spell correctly, but they just don't want to. But then there are the failing students who can barely read...
I prefer to spell and type everything correctly. It annoys me when I make a mistake while typing or when someone else does. Things are easier to read when they are grammatically correct. I'm kind of a perfectionist, but still.

A diamond is merely a lump of coal that did extremely well under pressure.
If I'm correct, there are plenty of reports that show that the whole text-talk thing is getting into their school papers, much to the dismay of teachers.
Also, I do fanfics every now and then and also read them. I can't believe how many I've seen that are horrifically spelled with all sorts of abbreviations and emoticons. Come on, people!
Uhhh Really your using Facebook as a reference to how kids spell thats like looking at texts and saying nobody can spell anymore.
Texts are acceptable. People who don't use facebook on their mobile phone have a whole ****ing keyboard in front of them.

FFS, I am obviously wonderful.
I'm pretty sure that there are many more people from non-English speaking countries than 9000.
Also English isn't my first language and i still write it totally fine.
I don't think I'm following you here. What exactly are you talking about? :huh.gif:
Read the past comments.
Yeah, I'm still not following you. :tongue.gif:
I was replying to someone, and we were talking about the judgments people make based on things such as spelling, and whether they are right or not.
You heard that, green and red.
