When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. I don't want your damn lemons! I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!
I think it's because they think they're texting and don't need proper grammar. Other than that I think they can spell. Just not that much.

Remember, Off-Topic is where you post every mundane, uninteresting thing about your life for everyone to cherish and enjoy.
I'm also a compulsive liar.
They don't care about their spelling/grammar anymore. Well, they will find it out the hard way when applying for a job... Oh, and I am no native speaker. That doesn't matter. It's only about laziness, I think.
If people keep doing this, they will forget the proper spelling of words, especially the longer ones. And that will make their letters look stupid when they apply for a job.
No one knows how to spell. It's very silly, but what're you going to do? Make a post on a forum about video games complaining about it?
Yeah, right.
I didn't.

Not that I've seen. According to grading one of my peers' tests, at least.

"...But don’t worry, you’re not alone, there are many men like you left in the world, and some of them even used to be your friends. After all, this is America, and we only kill our friends." - Immortal Technique
I'm 13 and I can spell perfectly fine. Hell, I'm in advanced Lit. But, I chose not to if I am just talking to friends most of the time for sheer convenience and/or because I am typing fast. Basically my spelling depends on if I feel like taking the time to capitalize and punctuate and what not.
Oh man. Grammar errors, typos, and wilful shortening of words ('you' becoming 'u', 'please' becoming 'plz') etc bothers me a lot. I can forgive it if people are in a rush, but on a forum like this please take the time to actually show that you care enough about the discussion to put some effort into it.
I swear, the spread of text messaging has only increased the destruction of proper communication.
If you are a Battletech/Mechwarrior geek you may enjoy my Timberwolf/MADCAT model (the source of my avatar) (warning: image-heavy link target) I will often edit my posts after I have posted them in an attempt to improve their clarity (I value a few high quality posts over several low quality ones; the more lengthy the post, the more time it requires to edit) so you might want to wait for a while if this post is recent and refresh to see if anything has changed before replying to it.
2. Kids are lazy Let's be honest, they need to be told to clean their own bedrooms! Only a kid would want to live in his own filth rather than get off of his butt to clean it up. Besides, dunt u no? dis iznt ah testz in skool lulz
3. Don't you remember being a rebel when you were young? My way of rebelling in the early 90's involved listening to foul mouthed rap music, wearing retarded baggy pants, and getting my ear pierced without my parents permission. Oh, and acting like a retard in AOL Chat rooms. Oh yes, I was a cool.<sarcasm> But kids these days don't rebel as we did, they rebel by trolling, misspelling, and making lulz.
4. Let's be honest. There are plenty of words neither of us knows how to spell, hence the good ole spell-check. I think kids actually ignore spell-check in order to be retarded err.. I mean.. "cool". But, that won't fix horrifying sentence structure, lack of punctuation, and all the other ways they can butcher our language.
It's not until you get older when you begin to realize that the way you present yourself is a major factor in how you move up in the world. If I spelled that way on a resume.. or a cover letter.. or an email to a cute coworker... I wouldn't get a job and I'd probably be hitting the gutter bars for trashy women since no decent ones would put up with my obnoxious communication skills.
Maybe I over analyze. Perhaps our education system is in dismay. I'm also not the best person to answer this post. Anyone under 16 out there able to give a better answer? (Please try to be legible)

But really, how bad can it get?
FFS, I am obviously wonderful.
I can guess that this is only the beginning.
Yeah, right.
It's pretty bad...

This is the minecraft forum. No matter the section the root site is still minecraft.
Either way, nothing is going to change. People are stupid, and stupidity is rarely, if ever, cured.

Americans? Lazy?
Blasphemy!
*there may or may not be cake
There is no lord and if there was, he is not good.
However, I don't think it has anything to do with them not knowing how to spell. It's a combination of a few things:
1. It's trendy to misspell / Socially acceptable amongst children. (Example: Oh hai!)
2. Kids are lazy Let's be honest, they need to be told to clean their own bedrooms! Only a kid would want to live in his own filth rather than get off of his butt to clean it up. Besides, dunt u no? dis iznt ah testz in skool lulz
