Robbing a bank /=/ Starting a revolution to fight for your freedom and right to bear arms
You'd be killing people because you believe your stance is the correct one. You glorifying a revolution really is the problem. A revolution is really supposed to be a last ditch attempt, and shouldn't even be thought of until your rights are truly being infringed. Killing is wrong, and if your first conclusion is to kill others that don't agree with you, instead of using your words or the political system to your advantage, that's a problem.

Look at the American Revolution, which was started because the British tried to take guns away from the colonists. Look up the Battles of Concord and Lexington. The British tried to take away the guns from an American town and they fought back (and won), and it started the American Revolutionary War.

Oh god, you think THAT's why we had a revolution? You are seriously misguided.
And, back then, everyone generally had the same type of weapons. There weren't heavy assualt weapons, automatics, handguns, etc. It was fair. It wouldn't be fair if another revolution happened. Which people don't tend to notice.

Such is a common tactic in war. They were, at the time, fighting a hidden war of attempting to weaken the other side without directly shooting each other.
That doesn't justify the British trying to take away their basic rights.
Heavy assault weapons =
-SNIP-
"Cannon were considered the queens of the battlefield. Infantry unsupported by cannon usually lost if the enemy had cannon. American Militia units were known for not standing up against British units with cannon support, since they rarely had any of their own."
Thanks for proving my point? British = Our current government. They generally have more advanced weaponry.
Automatics (or close enough) =
-SNIP- I'm going to need citation on that. It doesn't even look like it's from the same era.
Hanguns =
-SNIP- Okay? My point was, a shitty handgun (inb4 piercing rounds) vs a tank wouldn't be much help. I never said they didn't have pistols back then.

@Vincenzo
Almost everyone in the military is conservative or libertarian and they support private gun ownership. So much, if not all, of the military would support the civilian resistance.

I was hoping you'd say that.
Then why the **** are you afraid of a tyrannical government!? If NO ONE had guns, and NO ONE in the military would support a tyrannical government, then they'd have no power to take away your rights. You can't have a dictatorship without a military that would blindly follow your every word; and seeing as you just said our military men would never support/follow orders that would take away our basic rights, then there is no chance something like a "tyrannical government" happening.
And let me get this clear, I am not in favor of taking away guns. I am in favor or tighter gun regulations. You should have to take courses to own any form of firearm, gun shows would have to be highly monitored, etc.

Let me put it this way. I had a gang ready to curb stomp my short skinny white ass just because I, as they put it, was "on their block." The next day I walked by them while open carrying my pistol. They haven't said anything to me since then, and I still walk up "their block" multiple times a day. The only thing that kept them from beating me into a coma was my gun. An armed society is a polite society.

Both guns and bullets cost a lot of money, often thousands of dollars. That's more than some teenage wanna-be gang banger can afford.
So, wait? Your argument was that bad people would always have guns. And now you just said that bad people cant afford guns. Im confused.

The guns they used weren't legal, they got them off the black market through a rather shady woman who got them through a Mexican drug cartel, or something along those lines.

I was being sarcastic. Quite obviously, really.

I added property defense and hunting.
Got a source for that?

I never said that's the only reason, but it was how and why it started the war:
