Only a handful were ever very large. One was a game design forum for indie gamers (though we had a Starcraft developer there for a while). Over time it became a sort of general message board for a larger and larger community.
Another started as an RPG fan forum. That one got kind of large and I eventually (to the displeasure of many) merged it with the game design forum.
Others included various gaming and general message boards. A couple I ran as favors for others who weren't computer proficient. One I took over by force; I hacked my way into ownership and improved it tremendously for a time. It was sort of dead anyway, I just brought it back to life. For a while I was a "whitehat hacker" for the forum developers. That was the only thing I took for myself.
I've moved on, though, since then. Changed usernames. Personalities. I try not to be identified with the communities I built or helped expand. I was an arrogant ******* in those days, so, I prefer to just keep it at that.
(There was a time when Googling my screen name would get thousands of hits, all me, from all over the internet. It was really strange.)
Wow, and I thought I was bad. Thankfully, most of the places I went to were rather small, besides KHInsider, which I still go on. I'm an on/ off member of that place. Also, most of the places I used to go to are dead. I don't know about the first place (a TS fansite called the Rec Room). It might still have life in it. I also was once a part of the past Dewmocracy's site and a fanmade spin-off called Dewmocracy Sanctuary. I was a Typhoon fan, who later shifted towards Distortion, despite how much the odds were against it. I once made a site, which failed completely.
I think I've been a part of three KH and TimeSplitters fansites apiece, along with two Zelda ones. I really don't feel like posting links.
"I don't plan to add a new dimension at the moment. It's just to performance heavy on servers, and the current dimensions need more attention before we start adding new ones." < Yeah, like biomes or actual varied terrain in the nether. Nether ruins didn't do the trick at all.
Provide links, please.
They no longer exist. As I said, that era is passed. Sorry. =(
Oh the days.

Same here. However, I think the most I was ever a part of at any given time was 7 or 8. I tried to have limits.
