How bout both? People take the Bible way to literally. God could have still made man, and we could have still evolved from monkeys. You dont always have to be "right."
EDIT: Keep in mind, I have only read acouple pages of the Bible, but dont you think a mighty celestial being's sense of what a "day" is could be billions of years to us? You dont think people really lived for hundreds of years like the Old Testament says? People's sense of time has changed over the years. So when God made Man in a day (citation?) it could have been over thousands of years (or however long Evolution took, I am in no way an expert) and we eventually ended up as Man, what God wanted. I'm a Catholic/borderline Agnostic btw, if that matters. I "believe" in Evolution and Creationism.

Evolution happens, and that's the end of it. Anyone can believe in God-assisted evolution if they want, but anyone who denies that evolution occurs has no idea what they're talking about.

Agreed.
Anyone that denies evolution shouldn't be given the pleasure of having it explained to them

Well, of course. The creation stories (emphasis on stories; there's two in Genesis) were Jewish folk tales anyway. There's no good reason to believe that they were a word for word explanation of the the creation of the world.

Folk tales?
The creation stories were believed by millions in one of the most cultured areas in the middle east. Maybe you don't realise that these stories are well over 2,000 years old and subject to much interpretation.

just because everyone believed it does not make it right. Everyone use to believe that the sun revolved around the earth and boy was the false!

I'm not attempting to disrespect them (or rather, you, since you're the only person offended by that, apparently). That's exactly what they are, though. Stories told around a campfire, passed down through the generations and eventually written down along with the Law of the Jewish people during their exile in Babylon.
'Belief' doesn't necessarily have Religious connotations, just most of the time.
Since it is the Theory of Evolution, do you 'believe' in Evolution would be the proper way to ask it.
Our understanding of the word "belief" is Christian. That same understanding has, since, been applied to science. Also, the same sort of persecution that went along with the importance of once's beliefs has also migrated from Christianity.
Example: the poor treatment of people who don't "believe" in evolution.
So please, post away.

My philosophy on it is pretty well summed up in the sagan quote in the OP's sig.

You heard that, green and red.
Why create something and make it stagnently similar?
Evolution.
Does not compute.
Since when did science become a religion?
Oh right.
Since the beginning.
