Do you even realize how incredibly insulting that sounds?
Its the truth, if you didnt want the baby, tough: i think you can practice safe sex, or get a Vasectomy. You know they can store your sperm in case you want a child later. so yeah, no excuses.
Just because you made a poor decision doesnt mean you get to stop a future living being before they even have a chance.
Like a broken record... We've made this argument a dozen times already.
Quote from McBeeferton »
If a woman didn't want children in the first place there are contraceptives that are supposed to stop the baby from ever being conceived. Condoms, birth control, surgeries for both the male and female. None of us are arguing a woman should simply go "Whoops, I had a baby. Time to get rid of it!" because she didn't use a contraceptive. There's some responsibility that should be taken. We're not saying everyone who gets pregnant should abort their child.
It's a CHOICE and a CHOICE that shouldn't be made lightly.
Abortion is a way out of a mistake or accident. If your contraceptives fail (which have a very, very low failure rate) and and you end up getting pregnant and you don't want a child, you should be able to abort it if you want to. If you're raped and you end up getting pregnant, and you do not want that child, you should be able to abort it if you want to. No woman should have to go through 9 months of hindrance and an excruciatingly painful labor because of an accident.
That may sound selfish, but consider the fact that labor can KILL the mother and sometimes the baby as well. Consider that chance for a moment. Consider the possibility that a woman gets pregnant because of a rapist and she can't abort the baby and 9 months down the line both she and the baby dies during child birth. How fair is THAT?

which is what i state in my original post, yes.
When the mother or baby may die, or if the woman was a victim of rape than yes.
im not saying its wrong, but that it shouldnt be abused for selfish reasons.

It doesn't have to. It could be regulated to only be done under accidental cases. Abortion shouldn't be "marketed" as some sort of contraceptive safety net for unintelligent people who make bad decisions of their own free will, it should be for accidental circumstances only. I don't think anyone should be able to just waltz right into a clinic and say "I want an abortion." and then go get it done. There's serious implications and it should obviously be well thought-out before hand.
Like Breadlord suggested, there should be therapy before and after a planned abortion to assure that the person who wants an abortion is getting it for the right reasons. I also think there's should be some sort of "point of no return" when it comes to how far along the mother is. No one should be having abortions 8 months into their pregnancy...
and of course, adoption is an option. But I think we really need to cut down the number of children who get put up for option. This is an epidemic in of itself, you know. LOTS of children out there who don't have a home.

I think this is the first agreement in the thread.
Agreed. :smile.gif:

LOLwut? Try reading the thread. How many pages have you been here?
Abortions are terrible events and i understand that.
And people can be very careless.
BUT.
If there's a serious reason that someone wants an abortion, who's to restrict them?
Rape happens. Peer pressure happens.
And killing a fetus is just as bad as killing and insect, which i'm sure we've all done before.
If you think abortions should always be illegal no matter what why don't you insist on making insect spray illegal?
I find it kind of stupid people are bringing up the same things over and over after they've been proven wrong over and over.
These people are comparable to wolfaboos :T
