It's failed everywhere it was tried. It makes everyone pay higher taxes. It lowers the quality of healthcare. It makes longer waiting lines. It eliminates people's ability to choose their own healthcare plans and their own doctors. It means lesser healthcare for the elderly. It makes things even easier on people who don't work and skim off government. There is absolutely no desire for anyone to be a doctor. Oh and don't forget that ever since England adopted universal healthcare, patient deaths due to doctor negligence have risen nearly 80% more than they were before.
This is America, if you need a surgery, you get a job and you work for a living like a normal person, don't skim off government programs that let you sit on your ass for 5 years, or wait, even more years now, since they extended unemployment. For every one person who is legitimately bad off and incapable of rational thought and/or working, there are a thousand people who abuse the system for their own personal gain and take money off of social security. Plus it's not like people don't all get healthcare when they need it, liberal propaganda has people believing that if you go into an emergency room you won't get treated simply because you're not "super rich" which is a complete and utter lie. They are required to treat you, it doesn't matter how much money you have.
Why should the government decide what healthcare I get? Why should the government decide who my doctor is? It shouldn't, but that's what people want. People are getting lazy and stupid, they want the government to do everything for them, since they're too lazy to actually get off their ass and do something like they're supposed to. If anyone remembers during the 2008 election, reporters were asking random people off the street why they were voting for who they were voting for, and the number one answer for people who voted for Obama (a Democrat), was that he would "take care of them" and "pay off their debt for them" because they were too ****ing stupid to pay off their own debt, in fact, they were stupid enough to get in debt to begin with by purchasing things they don't need on credit.
"It will be evident, even in the socialist society, that 1,000 hectolitres of wine are better than 800, and it is not difficult to decide whether it desires 1,000 hectolitres of wine rather than 500 of oil. There is no need for any system of calculation to establish this fact: the deciding element is the will of the economic subjects involved. But once this decision has been taken, the real task of rational economic direction only commences, i.e. economically, to place the means at the service of the end. That can only be done with some kind of economic calculation. The human mind cannot orientate itself properly among the bewildering mass of intermediate products and potentialities of production without such aid. It would simply stand perplexed before the problems of management and location."
I live in Finland, where all healthcare is free. We do not pay high taxes, we all live very long lives, we have a good time.
The death rate of low-income people is ridiculously low. It is thirteen times lower than in the U.S.
IT SAVES PEOPLE, MONEY IS NOT THAT IMPORTANT
Oh and by the way, the "failure percent" has risen, not because the surgeons fail more often, BUT BECAUSE THEY ARE OBSERVED MORE.
You also have 13 thousand times less people than America.
That is not important. Sure, the managing would cost more. But if your fascist country would stop bombing the **** out of every single country in middle-east, you would have the money to help 100 000 000 people. (100 million)
Don't even go there. For one, the mission is United Nations sanctioned and it is actually being led by the British and French, NOT by America.
What does this have to do with healthcare? I don't support all of the decisions my country makes, hell, I don't even support most of them.
Iraq you could possibly argue as unnecessary. But you can't really argue that Afghanistan wasn't. The problem is that we aren't fighting the wars correctly. For some reason, some people seem to think that fighting a very long low-level conflict over the course of several decades is better than fighting a very brutal high-intensity conflict over the course of a few months/years.
Socialist Healthcare works pretty darn well in Aus. One occasion where I broke my arm at school, within 10mins, an emergency ambulance was at the school, I was anesthetized and trundling on my way to the hospital. There ibwas given an Xray, diagnosed, given a cast, and then was picked up by my dad and taken home.

Seems pretty decent to me.
If that's your only argument for supporting socialist healthcare in a socio-political debate, then...
Everything. Imagine how much lives could have been saved instead of murdered with that amount of cash.
Killing radical Muslim terrorists who attacked us first and killed thousands of innocent civilians and continue to do so /=/ murder
9/11 was nothing compared to the mass murdering your country has done. And it was not not Islam that killed them, it was the ****ing people. How about the abortion clinic bombings chirstians have done in Ireland and Kentucky? With your logic I can go and kill 400 000 christians because of those bombings. Thanks for telling!
YOUR COUNTRY HAS KILLED OVER 4 MILLION INNOCENT CIVILIANS!
Every country has done things it's not proud of. And I'd like to see proof of your accusations.
How does a centralized industry determine what technology to invest in? Or what research to invest in? Where to constuct their buildings? How many (and what kind of) employees to hire? Etc. The economic calculation problem ,innate with socialism, prevents such abilities. @ithout the input of every single individual, the market of that industry WILL tend towards failure.
There's also the important fact that the US doesn't have a free market for healthcare.
If that's your only argument for supporting socialist healthcare in a socio-political debate, then...
It's worked for me, it works for my friends and family. When in America, people are dying because they don't have insurance or any other form of cover.
I'm all for Obama going for socialist healthcare. Because as it stands, It's been more successful than th other way.
Here you go, with your typical European American hating. "America is evil, it's so horrible, all Americans are fat and dumb, and their country kills terrorists, they all suck and America should die"

Obamacare hasn't even been implemented yet, and it won't be. It is being rejected by over 29 states and by the House of Representatives.
And you did not respond to this: How about the abortion clinic bombings chirstians have done in Ireland and Kentucky? With your logic I can go and kill 400 000 christians because of those bombings. Thanks for telling!
I'm not very well informed on the abortion clinic bombings in Kentucky. I know that some radicals do kill abortion doctors. Abortion is pretty much a non-issue. Stupid people argue it like it's a "huge issue" but it's really unimportant and miniscule at best.

I'm not stereotyping your country, because all I have done is pointing out facts. You are being ignorant and you are being lied to by the government. You still did not answer my question:

Islam is a huge threat, I wrote a huge thread on another forum a few months ago about how we need to stand up to Islam. But I don't feel like looking it up right now.
Please, actually READ my whole post, instead of replying solely based on the topic title.
I'm a very tolerant man and I have nothing against the Muslims, in fact, many of them are wonderful people. Unfortunately their religion is one of intolerance, and there are fanatics who believe every word that is in the Qur'an. While there are fanatics of every religion, none of them are quite as dangerous as the Muslim fanatics. The Muslims that hate America and secular democracies are the enemy. We need to make it clear to the Muslims that America and the rest of the free world will NEVER adopt Islam or any other religion.
If the terrorists then decide to continue trying to force their religious beliefs on others, then we will have to strike back. Most people don't admit it, but people are afraid of the Muslims. Muslims seem to think it's okay to stone your daughter to death if she has a non-Muslim boyfriend and to blow up buildings full of people over jokingly insulting Mohamed. You see the media, take South Park for instance, make jokes about Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, and all other religions. But Islam? Hell no. We have allowed the terrorists to do what they want, they want to incite terror, and that's what they're doing. They're making us afraid of them, and so we're giving them the very thing they want, fear.
In Europe they are opening up Sharia Courts that enforce Muslim Sharia Law. To the Muslims, Islam isn't just a religion, it's a way of life. A buddy of mine works with two Muslims, and he says that they always jokingly give him heck about being Christian and so he jokingly said something bad about Islam one day, and he says they went berserk and acted as if they'd been kicked in the nuts they were so mad. In the Qur'an it states that it IS okay to worship other religions, but by doing so you have to become a second class citizen and pay tribute. As you can see, hate and intolerance are deeply rooted into the founding documents of Islam itself.
When it comes to Muslims, they are always a Muslim first. Even many of the Muslims in America and other Western countries are Muslims first, and Americans second, that's just how they think. I'm not saying we should judge another culture using our own standards, because that's not the case. The normal Muslims are too scared to stand up against the fanatics, which is one of the reasons the Middle East has so many problems. Again, we need to make it clear to the world that the Western world will ALWAYS be secular, and if they can't accept that and try to force their religion on us, then we will have to retaliate accordingly. I'm not calling for a crusade, I'm calling for an end to the hostilities that religious fanatics harbor towards other religions and towards America.
Religion is an old and archaic structure that is dying. Creationism, religion, and intelligent design simply don't hold up to the facts. The fact is that the truth lies in science. Be that evolution or another scientific solution.

I'm not saying we must rely on anything. If people choose to believe an all-powerful divine entity that guides humanity down a certain path, that's fine. Meanwhile I'll put my faith in science.

From Ludwig von Mises:
