When we die we should just go to a new world in a different universe then when we die there we come back here, each time our memory gets erased and we start over. That'd be pretty cool
1. Ability to remove immortality whenever I wanted - infinity is an awfully long time to live, and since you WILL outlive everything that exists, there will eventually be nothing left and even the most creative person ever would get bored.
2. Able to bring somebody into immortality with me. Not forcibly, of course, but finding somebody who'd want to share your immortal life with. It'd be nice to have some kind of constant in an infinitely changing world. And that person would have the exact same abilities as me.
3. Semi-god powers. Nothing like creating whatever the hell I want whenever the hell I want, but more like flying around, no pain from anything, maybe some kind of fast-travel system. Stuff to open up more possibilities for fun.
Immortality's completely theoretical anyway, why not imagine a perfect immortal life?

You just wasted -insert arbitrary number + measurement of time here- reading this.
I'd take immortality if I had the ability to remember everything. I could spend thousands of years harvesting knowledge and benefiting mankind.
This. Unless there was no way for me to die. If I had to be forced to live forever with no end, I would NEVER accept. That would be an inimaginable torture, worse than anything.
I would rather be youthful for 50 years than age indefinitely.
A girl says "you're hot." You say "Hi, I'm 50."
And she'd believe me if I told her? I think she'd laugh at my funny joke. That's what I love about these high school girls. I get older and they stay the same age.

The iteration of these lines brings gold;
The framing of this circle on the ground
Brings whirlwinds, tempests, thunder and lightning.
... And on the subject on Immortality...
-IMAGE HERE- ... What? it's on topic. [/Lies]
It would make sense that a topic about immortality should be immortal.
'Sides, it's still discussion, so it's not much different than making another topic about it (other than the fact that we have one less topic about immortality).

Joking aside, I would like to be immortal. As long as I don't end up like the Face of Boe.
:smile.gif:
I'd rather be like Superman, immortal, ageless, and undying, unless someone attacks me with glowing rocks.
But yeah, I wouldn't mind living forever.
Sure it could be boring, but in an infinite universe, anything is possible.
That said, on my 5 billionth birthday, after watching the sun go nova and collapse into a white dwarf, I'll be sure to remember all the people on this forum. :smile.gif:
You're all invited. Not that anyone will be there besides me. No Oxygen left.

I have Asperger's Syndrome, a mental disorder of the Autistic Spectrum, apologies in advance if my posts seem a bit off.
There is an infinite amount of things you can do in life. If you get bored from immortality, you're not creative enough :3
Erm, there is only a finite number of things you can do with finite matter and energy. Do the maths and you'll find that it can't keep you occupied for eternity.
EDIT: Still, you can't remember all those things with less brain than matter/energy in the universe. i.e The goldfish method of not getting bored.
In my point of veiw, immortality really doesn't motivate anything.
"Eh, I'll live forever, I can get it done eventually."
Also, you'd probably go insane from all your family and friends dying.
if everyone is immortal, they wouldn't die
If you are immortal, what will you do after a googolplexian years, thats 100 to the power of 10 to the power of 10 to the power of 10 years. After you've done every possible thing, played every instrument, talked about everything and you have NOTHING to do? You can't kill yourself, so what do you do? Start over?
Simple. Start thinking long-term. You want to build an entire city out of stone by hand? You have the time. Want to landscape a personal planet? You have the time. Want to make a giant conspiracy taking form over thousands of years the affect vast swaths of the universe? You have the time. :tongue.gif: You can do things for entertainment that normal people couldn't even live long enough to begin. And just look at all the things that normal people can do during their lives.
Plus, there's the "can you outlive the universe" issue...

Things I hope get put into Minecraft: Piston (since it can act as a Sluice Gate), Birds, Aether, colorful fish (like the birds), deeper ocean biomes.
Immortality would be hell. Heaven/hell would be hell. Might be fun for the first million years, but the next billion? the next trillion? Total agony
But if you think about it, angels, if they exist, are supposed to do anything for you. It could be whatever life you want. Of course you'd get bored of it but the possibilities would be endless.
Personally, I'm ambivalent about Heaven OR hell, but it could be quite possible that there is an afterlife. Only the dead know, and the people who think they know **** me off.
I guess if you constantly erased your memory it would be OK, but if they didn't then there is only a finite amount of things possible to do
See, that's why I wouldn't want immortality. If my memory erased yes, maybe, but if not hell no! It's torture! And I always wanted to see what happens when you die so immortality can go screw itself.
...This question, in my opinion, is useless. It is hypothetical, seeing that to have death; you have at one time have had some sort of a sense of being. So, clearly the awnser is both, leading to may other subjects otherwise as wether we really exist, or merelyTHINK we have a choice of everyday actions. Please dont start shitting up my comment with religion, i have a "Dogma" too.

As in everything is perfect. There is no concept known as bordom.
There is no evil.
There is no pain, no fear, only eternal joy and happiness (speaking of heaven of course)
Though thinking about infinite hurts my head. No end, no beginning. Its hard because everythign we know has an end and a beginning.

But for the gatrillion years you're immortal, wouldn't you finally say to the "angel" if you have one next to you "Can I start my life over?"

That's a basic explination of why it dosen't exist..
