Thoughts and hopes go out to all those currently having to live through the terrible earthquake which hit the city of Christchurch, New Zealand earlier today.
There has been immense damage throughout the city, and currently the report shows confirmed 65 dead with that number highly likely to rise.
I sincerely hope that they manage to rescue all those trapped beneath the rubble before it's too late..
To anyone who has family or friends in the area.. Our love to you..
Don't really know what else to say other than my thoughts go out to those who live there, or who have family there, in hopes that their loved ones make it through this natural disaster alright. I'm not sure how many of those who live/know someone who lives there will read this thread but, if they do, every little bit of moral support helps, even if it's just a random forum thread, full of responses from people they don't know.
Wow, I amazed to see this topic.
I live just outside of christchurch (litteraly 5-10 min drive) and you can hardly tell anything has happened. But I have been watching TV all afternoon, getting text messages, phone calls, etc, from friends and family, and it looks to be very bad in the city center.
Its amazing, this earthquake was only a Magnitude 6.3, a very shallow depth of only 5 km, and only centered 10 km south-east of Christchurch, we have been having earthquakes and aftershocks since the 7.1 Magnitude back in September and there had been no deaths to them that whole time up until today...
Im so glad to have lost no loved ones myself and my thoughts go to those that have.

I'm in Australia, and had people contacting me asking if I was doing ok since I'm originally from NZ. I've also been watching the broadcasts of it all day and the middle of the city just looks like a warzone..
It is amazing that a few kilometers of distance can make such a huge difference for what is destroyed and what is almost completely unaffected..
I'm glad to hear that you and your family have been lucky. I can only hope many more people are also lucky.
What a day it has been. Literally the most scared I have ever been in my life. Me and my family was lucky as we managed to make contact fast and no one was hurt. I feel terrible when I think about the people who have been killed and trapped, it could have been me. I wish all those affected a quick recovery back to normal life.
I hate to bump this thread, but I just got power back last night.
I was near Cashel Mall (Center of town) when it happened. It was pretty horrific :sad.gif:
