People actually still live in Egypt? Excuse my ignorance in this subject, but what the crap? I can imagine Egypt being one of the worst places to live besides Antarctica or Iraq. The only good thing Egypt does is tourist attractions.
Er. I can think of hundreds of places worse than Egypt. Egypt is very modern.. I don't see how you could think that.
My in-vision of Egypt:
Sand sand sand, pyramid pyramid pyramid, old old old.
This is Cairo, Egypt's capital.

Don't generalize us with the ignorant.
Although to be honest I'd wager that if I were to ask most of my peers around where I live what Egypt is like, that would be their answer.

Yeah.
There are lots of places worse than Egypt.
Like, Afganistan for example.
Yea, lets blame change/technology for screwing everyone over! >_>
There are many hot spots occurring over the globe, all relating with change or technological aspects.
Like for instance that Canadians are being sucked dry by the Vampires that which we call big service providers.
No, we're not being squeezed by real vampires, just corporations that is the monopolizers.
Well not many physical--- wait.
If people get their money sucked out, and is forced to live through other methods, don't they resort to violence or worse?
i use to imagine Egypt's bigger cities like a sandy new york, or an upscale mos eisley from star wars.
but thanks to google earth, I found out that Egypt is very green around the Nile.

@Garret: Dont say that your country is exempt from those 3 that you just said...
If anything,The god and Ingorent thing Apply more to your country.
Even the poorest countries in the world have a capital city that has a very wealthy Central Business District.
This is Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea.
Egypt also has the 40th highest GDP in the world. Not the best, but certainly not the least. Was just showing him that it wasn't all sand and pyramids.

I really hope the people can make a change. I know very little about politics, especially in that area of the world, but I understand the situation isn't very good at all. That said, I hope America doesn't involve itself in this. It's really none of our business anyway.
Given the Obama administration sides itself with the government, and given it's history with interventionist meddling, I would not be surprised if US military forces were sent to fix this "disorder."

Doubtful. Obama wants to get re-elected. We just got out of Iraq, and we are slowly crushing the resurgence in Afghanistan. Egypt would be a new bag of worms that no one wants.
Obama could simply lie. We still have hundreds of thousands of soldiers in Iraq, but some people think we are actually out. I figure the administration will resort to shadow operations primarily, like drone strikes. Hell, Bush managed to get reelected and he's an idiot, so I have no doubts Obama could manage it.
We have less than 45,000 in Iraq, all of whom are support and admin personnel. The number is higher in Afghanistan, but not by much. If Obama lied, he would be removed from office. He has authority for a 90 day police effort but after that, all soldiers, without congressional approval at that time, would be removed.
Are you including the 85 thousand contractors as well? And my point is that there is still an extremely heavy US military presence even with a few dozen thousand soldiers, so any claim that the US is out is a flat out lie or attempt at intellectual dishonesty.
They need someone to keep them on a leash, we dont need another jihad...
Not too worried about them, really.

I can't argue with resistance against a horrid state, and hopefully the government will completely collapse. Maybe anothr Somalia will happen, which would be best. The sooner the governments collapse, the better. I'm betting the US only has about 30 years left itself.
Yeah, the situation is Somalia is definitely ideal.

Current situation is horrible due to UN, AU, and US intervention. They improved on almost everything losing their state, but since the United States and other foreign governments started to up their interventionist meddling it's all gone to ****. There would not be all the gang war or Islamic violence if a fake statist power wasn't being imposed on the Somalis against their will.
The only one who has actually served and seen these places is also the one most likely to get a subjective view of the situation. Not to mention all the pro-US indoctrination the army gave you. Don't kid yourself; you're no more objective than the next guy.
I don't think it's a matter of being objective-he just seems to have actual personal experience seeing what goes on over there, and is saying there's definitely some positives that came from being in the Middle East.
I'm inclined to believe someone who has actually been in that region over some website, TBH. The conspiracy this, conspiracy that stuff pretty much comes up to me as a warning flag that the information cited from the website is either inaccurate or it is being interpreted without context.
If you ask me, I think having a heavy US presence in the middle east would be a good thing (except for the expenses...) because that region, from what I hear, is very unstable.
Oh, and did I mention I'm a very skeptical liberal?
Although on the other side of the coin one thing that always has worried me is how the US seems to have what I hear to be nearly 800 military bases located all throughout the world, not all within our 'borders'.
Let's just say, it's very complicated, and there are a lot of gray areas about all of this. But everyone seems to want to see everything in black and white instead...

Honestly expected him to support the current regime, since they're pro-West. Guess he expects them to win and wants on their good side.
