I wish I could empathise, but I've never really been in proper contact with my grandparents, and it probably won't affect me much when this happens to me.
Sorry in any case. Death is always sad.
Hey, you know what sucks? My grandpa on one side of my family is very proud in me. Just imagine what would happen if I was revealed I was bisexual? I mean he's part of the italian catholic family. Feels like I would give him a heart attack.
I'm sad to hear that, I hope you and your family have a good support structure in your community to help you through this!
I lost half of my grandparents within a month, both of my Dad's parents, about a year and a half ago. The miracle is that they lasted so long, their health had been failing steadily for more than 10 years, closer to 15.
My grandfather on my dad's side died before I was born, so I never met him. My grandmother on my dad's side was around when I was very young, but died around that time as well.
So I have my grandmother on my dad's side, and my grandfather on my mom's side (who I happen to live with).
I never met either of my mom's parents.
My dad's mom died when I was five.
And now my dad's dad died.
Also, as Chaohord said, I kind of feel a requirement to make my dad a grandpa now, in a way.
My dad, my uncle, and I are the last men of our line who have the last name that I have, I think.
I think, because my uncle is a hippie-vagrant who abandoned society, and any miracle child he got is probably named Running Bear O'Flower.
So I'm my family's last chance now.
Both my grandfathers were dead when I was born, and both my grandmothers were getting senile by the time I was 15, with one in full on Alzheimer's dementia. Because of this, even though she lived with us, I never felt attached to her. When she died I only felt bad for my father, I felt no loss myself. Pretty much the same for the other grandmother, went senile, dementia, no loss to me, just to my mother.
That was about 5 years ago, my life has not changed one iota from their deaths, and that is the only thing I feel bad about.

I know how you feel. Or, you know, almost.
I have one Grandparent still living and one who died last year, a blissful drunkard. (God I loved that son-of-a-*****.)
The other two died before I knew about them.
