Go ahead and join the Army of united murderers, I am not stopping you.
For info on who you attack, just think of a random communist or Islamic country, the US likely hates them.
And when you die, I will be Still alive, You monster.
Name one war we fought where the other country wasn't treating their people poorly.
The Civil War.
But that's besides the point.
We dont fight people because we hat them.
Hell, alot of the soldiers in Iraq/wherever out there were hired by a Corporation, not the US.
EDIT: I'm probably getting corrected on that.
Slavery is bad bro.
And they left because of a change of presidents, that's pretty dumb.
Also I am a firm believer that "All men/women are created equal," and if a hundred soldiers have to die to save one civilian, then so be it.
And for the issue of collateral damage, just remember this,
If they don't hide their weapons in civilian buildings *like mosques and stuff,*
If they don't hold hostages,
If they don't house their personel in towns,
Then collateral damage would not be an issue, it's their fault, not ours.
Well technically the civil war was not fought over slavery, it was fought over state rights. Namely, the right of secession from the union. Of course, slavery was one of the main issues that lead to the southern states wanting to secede from the union, but slave ownership in itself wasn't why the war was fought.

The question was about a war where the people weren't being treated badly. The slaves were being treated badly, even if it was just the catalyst of the war.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
We sang: "I don't know where we go from here"
That is the anthem, the slogan, the summary of events
On the subject of the Civil War: It's funny how people think Abe Lincoln felt very strongly for ending slavery.
Don't get me wrong, he felt it was wrong and all. But he was more concerned ending the expansion of slavery to the western states, not ending it all together. If that happened, that'd be good. But just stopping the expansion of it would have been fine for him.
And on top of that, he cared more about the country being reunited rather than ending slavery. They kind of go hand-in-hand, though.
On the actual subject: The individual soldier should not be blamed for a war. They're simply given orders, and they carry them out. Imagine the guilt some of them feel already-having any more than that, and they'd all probably hang themselves right after their military services were done.

Hate the war, not the warrior. Most soldiers have almost no other choice. It's the leader's fault they're used poorly.
And this guy wants to voluntarily join the army.
I am fine with people being forced, they have no choice, but if they WANT to go about shooting others, then I have hate.
Hey, you probably don't understand, but I'll tell you anyways.
Peace, doesn't work if one party doesn't agree.
We can't have peace if they don't want it, and the insurgents definitely don't want it.
And it's not as if I have a bloodthirst. I just want to experience action, and I feel that serving my country is good too.

Yes, because so many people join the army with the mentality, "KILL THE RAGHEADS! BURN THE SAND NIGGERS!"
I want to join because I'd like to learn to fly a helicopter and get paid for it. The only kills I'd get would be in my own defense or defense of my comrades.
I'm in the Army at the moment, infantry to be exact.
I understand where you're coming from as far as wanting to get into the fight, but there's a few things to note. For one, it's not the TV's, real combat is a bit more...well, boring. It's not like it used to be, fighting now is going down a road, waiting to get shot at, return fire, sit around for 30m+ shooting off a few rounds, then eventually falling back to your FOB or calling in an AH64.
Second thing, if you want combat there's more than the Marine Corps. The Army is just as good and has more oppurtunities, if you join the Marines it's because you want nothing less than to be a cold blooded killing machine who thinks about nothing more than mangling their parents and then shoving their bodies into a blender to eat them for breakfast. In all honesty, a requirement to be a Marine is to be slightly "unstable".
Third of all, figure out what job you want BEFORE thinking about branches. What YOU want to do in life before what others want you to do or what you think is the coolest. Each branch specializes in something (the AF specializes in doing nothing at all) and has their own quirks, there's pros and cons to each and a branch that might work for one person might not work for another.
Finally, keep in mind that the modern military only around 10% are even combat troops. There's a lot more jobs in the military than you probably think, hell, you can be a guitar player in the military if you want. You could also go into being a surgeon, an air traffic controller, or even *cringes* water specialist. Just about every job you can think of is out there, you just need to figure out what you want.

Last I heard the only US Combat personnel left in Iraq were there to train the Iraqis how to defend themselves.
HAHAHA! Biggest joke ever, they're getting more action in Op New Dawn than they did before. That "last combat troops leave Iraq" was complete and total ********. I still got buds over there doing the same stuff, nothing changed at all, the news just ******** all of that. They're still getting killed, still doing combat ops, and still doing the same exact thing they did before. The only thing that changed was the name went from Op Iraqi Freedom to Op New Dawn. When they said the last combat troops left Iraq, they meant those serving under Op Iraqi Freedom. So much ********.
You don't understand.
I want the risk of dying at every waking second.
I want the horror that I might not be alive two seconds from now.
I want every damn morsel of it.
I don't want to die, but if that's a consequence, so be it.
I registered solely because I came across this little tidbit so let me be very clear about this. If this is truly and honestly what you believe, do not speak to a recruiter. EVER.
People with this attitude get Marines killed. Please stay the **** out of my Corps until you realize this isn't a movie or a game.
US promises are usually not that true.
I myself do not live in the US, but I can serve it's army.
If you want to see the world, I'd tell you to go to the airforce. More air.
Being in the marines can be greatly tedious, as a naval infantry is more trained in special assaults than on actual fire, commanding tactics or movement.
I'd always prefer people who climb walls, break windows and plant explosives.
We're trained in various "special assaults" yes but to suggest that we don't have an equal if not greater amount of expertise in fire, commanding tactics and movement is just absurd. We have ANGLICOs specifically trained for calling in fires, our MAGTFs are the most vertically integrated combined-arms units in the world and our small-unit leadership is second to none. Hell, MEU(SOC)s have the ability to put two thousand Marines with their vehicles, mechanized armor, artillery, engineering equipment and aircraft on any shore on the planet with all the beans, bullets and band-aids they need to be completely self-sustaining for 90 days within 72 hours.
We invented half the advanced tactics that other militaries are still trying to wrap their heads around a generation later.
I will give you this though: it can be ****ing tedious. Police calling, field day, formations...yes, it's tedious. But we haven't served as "naval infantry" for many years.
Holy **** why has this thread not been showing new posts for me.
:I
Well anyway, I got some bloodwork back that confirms that I do -not- have Marfan Syndrome, so assuming I can get lasik through the Army, I can be a chopper pilot.

The question was about a war where the people weren't being treated badly. The slaves were being treated badly, even if it was just the catalyst of the war.
