Do not wallow do not stall
Time waits for none at all
Your allowance may crawl,
It may fly or even vanish
But none will seem more lavished
Than time lost to all.
They are something not to be messed around with by people who have little idea what they're getting into.
Even then anyone smart would just stop completely.
I'm glad to see this thread go in the direction I was hoping it would.
Big thanks to the mods for being so kind, as well.

I'm just surprised that the dude had the BALLS to get that.
Painful much.
When I saw the picture I just couldn't help but think, "What kind of life does that fellow live that he would let such a thing happen?"

I'd get something useful like cookie recipes carved somewhere I could easily read, or a menu from starbucks so I could just rip off my shirt for my morning coffee.
I see you have some very pragmatic aims.

It's one thing to have it done to you, but what about being the one who is doing it. That must be pretty awful too.
Generally people who put that much work into a flesh engraving probably don't feel negatively about that sort of thing anymore.

I'd have the quote
"Its just a flesh wound" carved into my body.
I don't get this, what is "HRC?" What does his dismembering of it mean? how does Monty Python factor into it?

If I absolutely had to or I'd DIEEE I'd get a little line.
SEE WHAT I DID THERE, MINIMAL PAIN, MINIMAL SCARS.
I was thinking of putting a requirement that it has to be intricately carved, but decided that would be a bit too much detail.
I can see no better way to visually tell people that they can't take me seriously.
If I saw someone with a scar like that I really don't know how I would react.

Id love that. Must be great to be inflicting pain with consent. Especially as its carving the flesh.
Don't forget, whoever did that put a lot of talent into it, they no doubt think of it as an art.

Scars are cool. I don't know why everybody is so boo hoo my beautiful body/face how much does it cost to remove this I want baby-smooth skin. Scars are badass. They show you've LIVED. Mauled by a tiger and survived? Cool. Got the scars to show for it? ****ING AWESOME.
I see my thread has attracted people of good taste!

I sure hope that doing this increases your chance of dying earlier, because you would be so stupid to do this that I dont want you passing your stupid genes onto any children.

Yes, these are the kind of people you should wish death upon.

I wouldn't intentionally get a scar, but as stated above, if it was caused by some epic kick-**** adventurenear death experience, I would show it off for sure.
Remember that it's less getting mauled by a tiger and more having religious fanatics carve their god into your back.
In my honest opinion, you would have to be flat out insane to have that done to yourself.
No exceptions, no excuses. Flat out nuts.
And no making up ridiculous scenarios where he's forced into it. He's mad as a hatter.
But that's just my opinion.

Clearly you have no idea about this kind of thing. Scarification is perfectly safe, when preformed with sterile instruments and if its well taken care of after the procedure.
This person is right, the proper term for this is "scarification" (wiki it or google image search, if you dare) and the end result looks very clean.
So in fact that picture is not too long after the procedure, before the skin has had time to heal, the final product is much easier on the eyes.
I would die before doing that :S ...hell I'd pierce every inch of my body at one time before doing that >.<...and I've already got a lip piercing that sucked like hell until it healed so yeah >.>...and next time remind me to not click links after big bold warnings ...I feel a little green about the gills now ...

You HAVE to watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail...
On topic: A Dragon. If I could do it...
I did, the cartoon still doesn't make much sense to me, I just don't get what they're trying to say here.
Yes, this is exactly what I was talking about in my previous post.
