I disagree with you all, I think the Simpsons has improved in the new series. I've found it to be more amusing - my Mum who is a hater of the Simpsons seemed to enjoy the newest ones.
I'll have to admit though, they have spaghetti storylines that barely come together at the end. Reminds me of the episode where it shows the day through all of their eyes.

I've said it before, and I'll say it agian, though this time comparing the Groening end of the spectrum. Simpsons is to Family Guy as Futurama is to American Dad (EDIT: lol how do i analogy). A good show can balance gags with genuinely gripping story arcs and action scenes.
Recent Simpsons plots are either mundane, boring and predictable, or childish, nonsensical and implausible, and not in a good way.
Southpark is lame for it, as Zuriki said: they [n]only[/b] did it to offend and that's wrong. If you can't see that you're either mentally challenged or just plain stupid.
There's no law saying they can't do it. There's guys trying to kill them, but no legal reason they can't do it. In fact, there's technically no law regulating what level of vulgarity can and can't be broadcast on telivision.
Seriously, are you really in favor of censorship? Do you have any idea what that implies? Where is the line drawn? Making fun of Muslims? Making fun of other religions? Making fun of groups? Making fun of individuals? I'm not exactly a patriot, but last time I checked, America was really big on the whole "freedom of speech" thing.
At Comedy Central's demand, the broadcast of the second half of the episode actually bleeped the word "Mohammed" and an entire speech at the end was removed. It wasn't about Islam at all, though. It was about not giving in to intimidation.
Think about that. These people were intimidated in to removing a moral about standing up and fighting oppression. That's something you'd expect in ****ing China, but in America?
Peri, you are added to the people I think are awesome list.

Isn't the easy answer to ignore it? There's no obligation to watch, and you're actually PAYING someone to send it to you. (If you get it, on cable, satellite, etc.)
Isn't the better answer to actually have support for your opinion that's criticized? If they went around saying the world is flat, and people believe it, shouldn't you try and show how the Earth being round is actually a pretty swell idea? Creating the doubt is a good first step towards actual understanding.
That said, I don't much like watching the show. I also feel of the possible messages they project, a lot of times people pick the "bad" ones. (That's both supporters and critics.) But, there are interesting messages in it, and if someone who came in looking for poo jokes, comes out with an interesting question, and actually thinks about it, that's a good first step, and possibly a world changing event. So, not the best execution, but they're doing something at least.

The difference is the intention. If you say "I think the world is round" and I say "Actually, no it isn't, here is some evidence why" because I want to help you understand, that's fine. However, if you said "I like britney spears" and then I said "britney spears is a ***** and should die!" just because I know you like her and want to **** you off, it's wrong.
The problem with this whole thing is not that you shouldn't allowed to offend or challenge peoples opinions, it's that you should not do it just because.
Southpark is lame for it, as Zuriki said: they [n]only[/b] did it to offend and that's wrong.
While you could say they're trying to offend people, what they're trying to say is, "Look at how ridiculous this is. People are upset because we had a fully hidden Mohammed say 'Okay' and 'Yeah'." While I don't really see the neccessity in making Mohammed an acceptable target, I don't see why not.
Cartoon Wars had the exact same moral, saying we shouldn't let a minority censor a majority. And it also involved Mohammed. The only reason nobody cared was because he wasn't actually seen or heard. Sure, him being present this time is most likely for publicity, but I think that's enough evidence to conclude that they really believe what they're saying.
Besides, who was offended, exactly? I can't say I know a lot of Muslims, but the ones I do know don't seem to be bothered by it. They just write it off as "some stupid cartoon". Again, drawing from a small pool of people and I could totally be wrong, but from what I can tell, It's only really upsetting to the radical sort.
If you can't see that you're either mentally challenged or just plain stupid.
So, everyone who disagrees with you is retarded? That's... that's just great. Really. Can we please lay off the insults for a while? I simply hold a different belief than you, and insults aren't going to change it.(I know, hyppocrisy lol)
However, like I said, I definitely respect your opinion, and I could potentially come to agree with you if you calmly wrote a bit more in-depth about why you feel that way.
Alright, I'll just drop my point:
South Park is sort of like Cracked.com if it was staffed by less capable writers. They do bring up some good issues and cause people to look at things and think of things they normally would not. However, where Cracked has wonderful articles that are generally very spot-on and factual South Park is a cartoon that use crude humor for shits and giggles. They both want to entertain, but Cracked seems to have a basic level of respect for its topics. South Park is **** all about things. Granted in many situations it can be a good thing, like touching ground to show hypocrisy where people normally don't see it, but they lack that respect for what they deal with. While it doesn't make the show wrong, it does make it unappealing.
I'm basically saying that what they say is not wrong, it just isn't appealing. The whole Muhammad thing is iffy in itself, because while they do have the right to do this that does not make it any less of an asshole move. They have poked fun of other religions before, but Christians and the like already sort of don't care much. It isn't as insulting to them to have the episode where God gives Satan love advance as showing Muhammad is to Muslims. Again, they do have the full right of free speech here, but unlike their previous mocks this is a big **** move to the people it is relevant to.
However, like I said, I definitely respect your opinion, and I could potentially come to agree with you if you calmly wrote a bit more in-depth about why you feel that way.
If you need it explaining, I stand by my original statement. We're supposed to respect each other, it's how a society will function best, what you're saying is that it's okay to do the direct opposite and purposefully offend just for the sake of offending.
It's not about who is and who isn't offended, it's about the purpose. If I set out to offend you and only offend you, how can I justify my actions? "Hurr durr muslims believe in a magical sky man they deserve it hurrrrrrrrrrrrr" doesn't count as justification.
Please, explain why it's okay to offend people just for the sake of offending them.
I seriously doubt the writers for South Park set out with the intention of offending people. I haven't seen the episode yet, but any "disrespectful" portrayals have always been more like parodies than anything.

It's not. But that's not what they're doing. They're making jokes at their expense, just as they've done with Christians, Jews, Atheists, and anyone else you can think of. They know it's going to offend people, but damn near every joke you can possibly make will offend someone.
You offended people because they disagreed with you about a cartoon, rather than for good humor. And, again, the people they're seriously, personally offending are the same kind of people who threaten cartoonists with death.
I've said it before, and I'll say it agian, though this time comparing the Groening end of the spectrum. Simpsons is to Family Guy as Futurama is to American Dad.

You're comparing my favorite episode to my most hated seasons yet.
I meant the way the storylines are all pretty much individual but come together. I wasn't actually comparing the episode itself.

The only time i've ever disliked southpark is when this kid made fun of the fact that I live in a place with the same name.
Then again i've never seen the show, so I guess it's not my place to judge
It has a political preference named after it.
And a number of books by independant parties on the subject of its "middle-ground" philosophy and impact on popular culture.
By the way, one of those books is part of a series that also covers Alice in Wonderland and Watchmen, for what it's worth.
So yeah.
Talk about beating a dead horse.
