Adorable? Perhaps. Kinda comes off as *****-ish and not that funny. Don't get me wrong, I love the Simpsons, but it just seems like they're taking the easy way out. In their situation, however, I would do something similar.

The Simpsons is meant to be a family show with underlying slightly-adult themes.
South Park is meant for 18+ immature idiots that would rather hear someone swearing in a silly voice than rattle their brains to try and get jokes between the lines.

So, can you hear me back there in 1999?
It's been a political show for years. Their episodes about religious tolerance are the absolute best in the business, they were the first cartoon to do a pro-gay rights episode, and recently, they've refused to negotiate censorship with terrorists. So, what if there's crude humor in it as well? Can you really not handle that? Does it bother you to the point that you mark everyone who enjoys the show as an "immature idiot"?
Seriously, summing something up in blunt terms is not a viable point and it never has been. The Bible? God sacrafices himself to himself after killing everyone so those people can go to heaven. Evolution? Fish give birth to monkeys which give birth to humans. Does this make evolution or the Bible less credible? Of course not. It just makes you look ignorant.
They're recieving frequent death threats over a deliberately non-offensive depiction of Mohammed and they're refusing to buckle. They're risking their lives over freedom of expression, and ignoring the fear tactics of one group of braindead bigots who can't handle being made fun of. It's admirable.
I'm getting tired of you bursting in to topics and screaming at people for liking things you don't. Just crawl away with your tail between your legs. You know, like you have every other time I've engaged you.

The hell is your problem? It's a cartoon.
Not to mention the fact the creators are being threatened with death because of how they arranged a few pieces of virtual felt. That's what should sadden you.
There's no law saying they can't do it. There's guys trying to kill them, but no legal reason they can't do it. In fact, there's technically no law regulating what level of vulgarity can and can't be broadcast on telivision.
Seriously, are you really in favor of censorship? Do you have any idea what that implies? Where is the line drawn? Making fun of Muslims? Making fun of other religions? Making fun of groups? Making fun of individuals? I'm not exactly a patriot, but last time I checked, America was really big on the whole "freedom of speech" thing.
At Comedy Central's demand, the broadcast of the second half of the episode actually bleeped the word "Mohammed" and an entire speech at the end was removed. It wasn't about Islam at all, though. It was about not giving in to intimidation.
Think about that. These people were intimidated in to removing a moral about standing up and fighting oppression. That's something you'd expect in ****ing China, but in America?

I don't care if they're standing up to some "big bad bullies" - the fact that they're doing it mostly to just offend people is ridiculous. ****, I don't care if they saying "we're not going to not draw the Prophet Muhammad just because you don't like it" - In fact, that makes me MORE mad at them, stop out-right disrespecting people then acting like it's a good thing. ITS NOT. It doesn't make you some big tough guy, it makes you a big fat ****ing intolerant arsehole.
In fact, the only other time we had an arguement I didn't read the topic until it had been bumped followed by a lock so I didn't run off "with my tail between my legs".
I'll accept my point was over generalised, not EVERYONE is an immature viewer, but - Singing poos, underwear stealing dwarves? There is NOTHING intelligent about that, it's the sort of thing a 5 year old might come up with, and there is nothing political about it.

They've joked about every other religion, including their own. The idea isn't that they want to offend people, it's that they believe people should be able to take a joke without being offended. I mean, do you honestly think they dislike Muslims in general? Or are you saying they're being intolerant of militant terrorist groups?
In fact, the only other time we had an arguement I didn't read the topic until it had been bumped followed by a lock so I didn't run off "with my tail between my legs".
I gave you over a week to respond. You had been plenty active in the topic prior to that.
Besides, we've crossed once before then and once since. The first was a debate about decency (which, to be fair, I think was genuinely stopped by the mods) and the other was you outright insulting me in a signature rating thread, completely out of left field, then never responding.
But, one thing has been consistant: You've always constantly insulted me. I've tried to keep it civil in the past and you've continued to insult me. Forgive me if I'm immediately unfriendly towards you, but to be fair, you've called me depraved, stupid, humorless, immature, and arrogant. And why? Because we have differing opinions about a cartoon, a Minecraft map and a forum signature. That doesn't make me stupid or immature, it just means I have different tastes. This is the exact same problem we had in the map thread.
I'll accept my point was over generalised, not EVERYONE is an immature viewer, but if you watch it you're definitely in the top 50% - Singing poos, underwear stealing dwarves? There is NOTHING intelligent about that, it's the sort of thing a 5 year old might come up with, and there is nothing political about it.
Again, these are all episodes from the first three or four seasons. Have you watched it recently?
Besides, who only watches intellectually stimulating shows? Have a guilty pleasure or two. I'm not saying it has to be this; if this doesn't interest you, that's perfectly fine. I can accept that. Just loosen up a bit.
I watch shows like QI which are both intellectually stimulating and humorous - my guilty pleasure would probably be Doctor Who, which I adore the in-between the lines humour and wit. I don't watch Southpark now and I probably won't ever. In my eyes if it took them five seasons to grow up; then their reputation is already tainted and irredeemable. Call me stubborn, already know I am.
I don't recall the conflicts other than the one I mentioned, either you took something I said to offense and I didn't intend it to or I insulted you but it's been so long that I've forgotten about it because I really don't give a **** anymore. Eitherway, I still actually don't give a damn if you like me. I'm sure there are plenty of others that find me utterly intolerable - that's life.
And now to actually respond to some of the points.
...do you honestly think they dislike Muslims in general?
Perhaps bad choice of words on my behalf, I mean. If you don't **** people off there won't be conflict, respect peoples wishes - don't go out of your way to defy them just because you think it's a stupid request. Somewhat hypocritical coming from me, but they're causing unnecessary friction. They should heed the words of Jesus (I think) and turn the other cheek. Let it go, don't fight it.
I'm going to turn the other cheek myself now and say you can take this as a win, a draw or a forfeit but I'm not going to carry on this argument because I know neither of us would reach an agreement and it's just fuelling a fire that's already too hot for my liking.

This. Say this. Come in to topics, and say this. This is a perfectly calm, neutral position. I can respect it and I have nothing critical to say about it. For the first time in the topic, I'm really understanding the other side to this. I have a rebuttal for it, yes, but I don't even feel the need to post it; your post is perfectly acceptable, non-hostile and well-intended.
And, there's no reason I couldn't post a rebuttal. Debates like this can happen without insult, and as frequently as possible, I try to keep it that way. I know I **** up a lot (a lot), but I genuinely do seek calm, friendly exchange of ideas, because I want to be the best that I can be.
I change opinions on occasion, there's no shame in it. When someone on the opposite side of a debate makes an excellent point, I always acknowledge it, and I don't fight it if I can't. If someone on my own side makes a poor point, I explain why it's poor despite it being in my favor. I don't care if I "win", really. Can someone "win" a matter of opinion? I'm not looking to win, I'm looking for what's right. But, I can tell you that nobody's going to make any new allies by insulting the other side. And, come to think of it, that's probably something I have to work on even more than you.

Man, like I said, you don't have to like it. Just don't tell other people they're stupid for liking it. Don't be offended, but I've found that you're kind of a clean, proper person, and you're posting on an internet forum where a man with a gun where his penis should be is considered comedy gold. Learn to co-exist with us simpletons, even if you don't share our taste.
Like I said, I haven't seen it in ages. The TV in my room picks up all of three channels, and I can't be assed to get up and go interact with my family to watch television.
I seem to remember them having a similar issue a few episodes back, that episode about FOX's shows being thought up by a bunch of manatees or something.

Cartoon Wars, was a shot at Family Guy. Also contained a bit about Mohammed, but at that point they weren't actually pushing to have him aired uncesored.
It also nodded to the Simpsons and King of the Hill. If I recall correctly, they got flowers from the King of the Hill crew. The Simpsons nodded back here. Which is interesting, because years ago, the Simpsons took a pretty big shot at South Park.

I have mixed feelings about both shows. For one, South Park's staff are masters of the callout. They've got brass balls over there.
The Simpsons... I just kind of lost interest a while ago, I haven't watched it recently enough to give a decent opinion on it.
