Is there anything bad we can say about Streets of Rage 4? idk, I'd be okay with people who said that there were
but personally I think there is more good about that game than bad.
Unlockable characters, each with their complete movesets, mini-games which appear as bonus rounds inside some levels, great soundtrack and of course fantastic new villains.
Some people aren't very keen on the anime aesthetic of the game, but honestly it doesn't bother me,
the game franchise was originally made by Japanese developers if I'm not mistaken, so having an anime art style fits imo.
People do need to look at the history of the game, in Japan it was known as Bare Knuckle.
So the complaints in my opinion about the anime art work don't make sense to me.
Also the artwork of the original games needed to be updated,
because the pixelated mess that existed in the original games were down to the limitations
of the Sega Genesis hardware they were designed for.
If Sega and DotEmu, Lizardcube, Guard Crush had gone with a pixel art style
people would have been moaning about it having dated visuals.
So which crowd do you appeal to? nostalgic? or those who had moved on?
in the end this was a sensible route to go, and it has been well received by the looks of things.
