I've seen people talk about Wonderful 101 before, it started out on a failed platform though.
The Wii U happened to be one of the worst, one because of the poor sales and because of the underpowered and overpriced hardware.
It's because of some bad decisions by Nintendo and it caught up with them, the Nintendo Switch is what the Wii U should had been.
If you're going to be marketing a tablet device then at least make it a portable system.
I do have some favourites on the Nintendo platform myself, but I can't deny that Nintendo's decisions to go with somewhat weak spec'd machines is causing problems for them.
Sony and Microsoft have already moved onto bigger and better things, what is Nintendo's solution to this? they can only get away with outdated technology for so long before third parties finally give up on them and go to other companies who are willing to market technology suitable to show off their games the way they were originally intended.
Mostly VR games; Arizona Sunshine, Half Life Alyx and Fantastic Contraption. Also Minecraft, though typically it's not so much to really play as it is to test plugins I make.
Recently found my way back to Minecraft after a long hiatus. Currently my go-to are Euro Truck Simulator 2, Halo: MCC and a bit of Squad here and there. Not been much into gaming recently.

Can you match my resolve? If so then you will succeed. - Monty Oum
To fit on topic, since I've almost finished Darksider Genesis I'm now playing Project Gotham Racing 2 through backwards compatibility on my 360, any leftovers on my PS2, Steins;gate, Starhawk's campaign and some racing games on my PS3 besides continuing with Wonderful101 Remastered on PS4 and trying to get through Axiom Verge and many other backlog games for that console. That and playing Splatoon 1 multiplayer on my Wii U among some DS/N64 backwards compatibility I got recently.

This comment may have lacking areas of editing and obviously is long.
I got a PS4 copy of Wonderful101 Remastered just to clarify. It still feels like a Wii U game sure but it still works on PS4 very well for combat, creativity and use of the controller gimmicks and reminding me how much the Dualshock 4 barely has it's features used other than like 1% of the PS4 library.
I'm aware of the Wii U and it's failure status just like the Vita, Virtual Boy and others well known and obscure. But if we want to count weak hardware being the issue the Vita is powerful compared to the 3DS, the N64 compared to other consoles of that generation, the Wii compared to other consoles. Everything sales wise is based on 'marketing' not how powerful something is. It's the same with Backwards Compatibility, the average person doesn't want to play their old stuff anymore, they want to sell it and play the new, how many BC consoles are successful either? This is why I don't get the point of the 'powerful hardware' matters opinions, they aren't wrong, better picture quality, better performance and more is important to some people but the average person that knows nothing or doesn't care will buy the ones that is better marketed, is cheap and has games they want to play on it, besides whichever their friends bought. PC Gamers care about power and upgrading their systems to move out parts, the regular person doesn't which consoles are aimed at the regular person besides those that prefer a controller, and other obvious things console gamers like that I can understand as I started out as a Console Gamer. No one is wrong for wanting a console for power, exclusives, controller gimmicks, buying it for a cheap price, frame rate, better picture (with or without needing an upscaler or other equipment even) or other reasons.
As a collector at least I find the Wii U really fun, and as my way to get back into Nintendo after only using the Wii/DS (my start with the company) for a few years but wanted to expand those libraries, experience the gimmicks (Dual Screens, Off-TV Play, Gyro) and Virtual Console mostly to play their older consoles which I've never played before. To me the Wii U is a mix of ideas and as cool to have for older gaming systems like the PS3/360 did and as I still use those system it's great. I enjoy different uses for systems these days as well as regular gaming, I haven't used PSVR much (for general use, or the asymmetrical uses in the VR Playroom, which the Wii U with 5 people would be cool, but I've not experienced it, obviously for those into online multiplayer they don't care/see the benefit only families or those that go to each others houses but still a cool use of technology with 1 person having a different experience then those that see the TV) but I do enjoy the Move sometimes and never tried Kinetic other than the Xbox One's lack of use for it with the old model (that and I like having a controller in my hands not using my body to play games). Good gimmicks for the hardware or intriguing concepts in games sell me on things these days, not open world RPGs (never cared for RPGs anyways like others around me do) or Battle Royales as the current trends, and long running series with many sequels to games I wasn't interested in when they were new on PS3/360 and are still going (depends with new IPs what they offer of course). Otherwise I explore any genre whether it be Visual Novels, Arcade Racing or Hack N Slash/Beat-Em-Ups now compared to just only starting out with Action Adventure, Shooter (First and Third), Sim Racing and Platformers. So I have a very different mindset then most people, I collect games but I'm also very selective, I do try new things but these new things don't interest me compared to other game design.
The Wii U may have been expensive and underpowered but I can't say the same as I got it in 2018 for $148.00 (and got a New 3DS XL/Vita for the same price in different years) so my experience is to others, though I can understand how people wouldn't have wanted one when it came to the games offered (lack of big AAA third parties), name, marketing and not understanding what it even can do/what it is, while the Switch costs $400 or so (the Lite less of course) and the PS5 $700 in my region, so for playing on a 1080p TV still and not really caring for the new consoles (my family has the PS5 and Series X) but I'm satisfied with what I have and have a bit backlog across all my consoles and handhelds anyways. I have many consoles hooked up so I don't really have room/need the new ones.
To me power doesn't mean anything anymore, I care about gameplay mechanics (better AI and other things are cool but mostly gameplay is what I care about) not how fancy/good looking the realistic or cartoony graphics look and pushing TV sales. Out of the many consoles I have hooked up to my TV (two generations worth hooked up with AV or fitting 3 HDMI slots on my TV, no HDMI boxes to allow for more) the Wii U stays plugged in (and with the Gamepad I don't really need to take up a HDMI slot on it) and used often even if I have 20 physical disk games so far, a smaller than that Wii library, using the Virtual Console for systems I've never experienced before, and the Gamepad/Wii Remotes in anyway I can to have 'fun'.
The Wii U is a DS Console/Vita and PS4 dual screen idea first that also allows for 5 players (1 with the Gamepad, 4 with Wii Remotes/Wii U Pro Controllers). I get the Switch appeal but to me the Wii U is what I wanted and never hated it at all because it offers an experience with multiple screens. Dual screen gaming and portability are not the same thing of course, but you can take the Gamecube on the go because it's small and has a handle, you just need a power cable, a connection to the TV and your good. The consoles are light and easy to take places. And with the Wii U you don't need the TV, sure it's 480p but it's not that bad honestly, but as a collector willing to play any generations of games or retro looking Indies it doesn't bother me, but for the person wanting to use their TV, have 4K and otherwise of course it's not suitable. Nintendo's consoles at least are better then taking a PS2/Xbox or PS3/360 places when they are heavy and not intended to be taken with you. Otherwise as I had a Wii prior I have all the things I needed, for those that didn't have a Wii it isn't as worth while unless wanting to get enough for either console's library. And as a collector finding niche and interesting games isn't an issue but obviously not something every customer is going to do. And the Virtual Console is great if I want older games besides the Wii's offerings and the ability to play DS games on the TV, which to me is great, as on 1 screen with an emulator it just doesn't work that well regardless of touch/mouse input.
The lack of power may be annoying but to me it fits well with my PS3/360 interest I still have at the moment as I'm collecting for them so having 720/1080p, AV out if I want to use it (which the PS3/360 also have yes) and gimmicks that I use often doesn't bother me. Visuals can matter but to me the Wii while awkward for 480p or 576p/i in PAL regions made sense if people still had CRTs and hadn't upgraded yet to a HD one even if they were more accessible TVs in the middle of the Wii's life. But at least you still had Lightgun games still around. Also while approaching new technology when new is a good idea I don't think the Wii U turned out that bad for their first attempt at HD other than later in the lifecycle because of lack of sales for the Wii U and Mobile development being an extra area for them, it seemed more awkward than when the DS, GBA and Wii were all being supported besides them not being as demanding systems and they were used to the transition of 2D/3D at that point. Otherwise the Wii U not selling well because of lack of third parties is not their fault, and the Wii U ports to Switch show they were worth it, so 'exclusives matter' opinions to me always seemed pointless to believe at least these days, when marketing and having the games people care brand wise being released as quick as possible, not months later and with features on a controller they don't understand will make any difference to many people regardless of core gamers or casuals picking them up.
Otherwise while Nintendo does like to be cheap with some things like the hardware and services (online of course included in that) which I get can be annoying I do find the things they are behind in to be good 'SOMETIMES' (just like handhelds can keep the feel of a generation just that bit longer) in some cases but obviously for future sake or in desperate need can be an annoying. I don't have much experience with Online multiplayer only Splitscreen Co-Op campaign experiences with my family on PS/Xbox consoles (which we don't do anymore), or Splatoon 1 online which I've been experiencing in the last few days and to me it isn't that bad even if the way Nintendo goes about Online isn't the best solution compared to the other's offerings.
Otherwise it's that I find they don't have other areas of technology they are that familiar with. Sony and Microsoft might be in front for technology but they literally have other divisions/markets they make money from, Nintendo is just a games company, they don't make phones, cameras, TVs, the Windows operating system, Azure Cloud services, Office and other things you can point to that make those companies money. I'm not saying Nintendo can't move forward and don't have the money.
Nintendo just spends their R&D time on and what they see with technology like hardware gimmicks (because they want to and carving their own niche, 3 fighting over the same thing isn't a good idea and they know that), the N64 and Gamecube were powerful and no one cared (besides the Cartridge/Mini Discs issue and marketing towards not being a family system in the case of the Gamecube in some regions). They aren't making all in 1 entertainment consoles when people may own one already like a PlayStation/Xbox, a DVD/Blu-Ray player, a Tablet, Smart TVs, Phones, PC, Laptop, have access to many streaming services already. Many people, such as the average person wanting a console for say COD or a few other games and selling something to a family doesn't care about power, just what games, the price and that's it (and the need for marketing that makes the product appealing and understandable). The hardcore gamer, collector/those that want the best picture quality will of course care about power and there is nothing wrong with that.
In terms of third parties I think yes the hardware can be off putting but to me that always seems somewhat believable and other times weird. Some times low-resolution textures and models end up in games in the case of out of bounds things, like Spiderman's Boat people or making it possible to play the game on the Vita for a handful of games besides the PS4, it's streaming 540p textures to that handheld and many games have a Remote Play feature mentioned somewhere. I get Devs want to use the hardware don't get me wrong but to me they make lower-res things anyways, or in other cases chase the money like they did the Wii and PS2 being underpowered and heavily supported compared to other consoles in those generations, using power of a console is a good thing but if they chase the money they don't care if they have to make a product with cut modes they will make it possible because of the people still on those platforms. The Wii getting Just Dance in 2020 for example as one of the last games on that console.
I've played older games on older platforms and not always found the results to be that great of course but not terrible even if the newer hardware is what they aimed for, I have 360 games from 2015 that sure aren't best for load times but still work, they still hit 1080p just the rest of the hardware is different, and the PS4/Xbox One were 1080p compared to the 360/PS3's upscaled or trying to reach it sort of level (I don't know for sure what the case was with the many later in their life styles that made them 1080p). And I get the point of moving on though and appreciate new technology, but obviously in the case of my current setup I don't need to upgrade if nothing will take advantage of it.
I get the business and customer side but as I collect things I have a different mindset too as many of the issues with them don't matter to me compared to the regular customer that wants 4K and recognizable series to play on them. I do appreciate Frame Rate of course but graphics mean nothing to me, 1080p looks great still, 4K is good but 8K isn't interesting to me because it already looks good enough to real life already regardless of the extra detail, and depth. I enjoy technology in console and PC spaces equally, but I'm not the regular customer, and there is nothing wrong with being the regular customer and wanting those things. I completely understand what people are after (I've researched enough consoles, read enough comment sections and know people into what you mean) I just look for different things when playing or buying games and sales of hardware and lacking areas of popular games doesn't mean anything to me if I can still have fun with it in Singleplayer, experience popular and niche games I haven't that I am interested in and if enough services are active to still use like a Virtual Console. B Grade games in the PS2 era even I can find enjoyment in, they aren't terribly made, they just have a different budget. So to me the Wii U is a fun console and lived up to it's potential where it is usable in so many ways that I never get bored in the 2 years I've had it, but obscure consoles that failed did for more worthy reasons and deserved to be failures, look up the HyperScan by Mattel or hundreds of other consoles and the Wii U is more appealing and successful in comparison. The Vita is a Dreamcast like cult following system, the Wii U has a fair amount of people that still (because they can't afford or still enjoy) using it besides those that moved to the Switch.
By making this comment long and probably pointless I'm not saying people need to buy a Wii U or agree, I just see appeal in the thing, but obviously as a collector, I couldn't care less about sales if the consoles still has so much to offer and if it's NOT NEW. That this started because I have Wonderful101 Remastered on PS4 that the Wii U needs to be brought up either which honestly does it matter? Do people really care that much to bring up the Wii U not selling well because I bought a Remastered version of an old Wii U game. Sigh the Internet.
Playing some Wii games I picked up (Mushroom Men The Spore Wars, House of the Dead Overkill, Blastworks, Tenchu Shadow Assassin, Sonic Black Knight, Samba De Amigo, Need For Speed Nitro with the Gamecube controller, Red Steel 2).
For Wii U Tank Tank Tank or Hyrule Warriors primarily
Getting trophies/playing a few other pickups of Vita games (currently Little Big Planet Vita and WipEout 2048),
Been slowly on and off with Gran Turismo Sport, Grid 2019, trophy hunting Ratchet 2016 (and remembering how much I hate it) on PS4, I have a bunch of others for various genres but they are my main focus.
A bit of Need For Speed Underground Rivals or Everybody's Golf for PSP,
A handful of PS3 games I picked up and never played like Operation Flashpoint Red River, Army of Two (first entry don't have the other two), Front Mission Evolved (the mech/on foot one not the tactics ones),
Chipping away at Disgaea 6 on Switch
Bodycount or WRC 2 on Xbox 360
Tourist Trophy or TOCA 3 on PS2, maybe others like Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness, Tak Great Juju Challenge, Primal, Metropolismania, Rayman 3, Juiced 2, Stuntman Ignition, Pitfall Lost Expendition (replaying as already 100%ed it), Headhunter Redemption and others if in the mood for them.
in 2022 I'm still playing Quake 3 Arena, it's a classic. I had to start over last night though because the save file on Steam cloud got corrupted. The daft app doesn't even check to see if the save files are valid before it replaces them on the cloud, so not surprising there have been other complaints about this.
I'll just have to rely on manual backups for the time being, I can get everything back though, the kill streaks and other stats as well as the finished campaign.
I think Minecraft Forge was my top last year. This site has a wide range of Minecraft games from all the old classics and up to all the newest games. If someone still didn't hear about Super Friday Night Funki vs Minecraft i would highly recommend to check it out. I had a lot of fun playing it yesterday for hours.
I've been playing WoW Classic TBC for a long time. I think it is the absolute peak of World of Warcraft gameplay-wise. There was so much to do every week whether it be doing dailies, dungeons, and raids on your main character or leveling and gearing an alt character. The dungeons were plenty in numbers and quite enjoyable and raids were amazing.
Hi!
I want to ask about your favorite game you are playing nowadays. I love to play Minecraft Earth.
Quake 3 Arena, I know it's an old game but it is still being played to this day by some people and it has some cool mods.
Normally I wouldn't bother with mods because of their potential malware problem,
but unfortunately Quake 3 hasn't been updated in a very long time and by todays standards the visuals haven't exactly aged well imo.
Since ID Software never released a more updated version of the game through GOG or Steam,
I'm using the Creative Commons HD texture pack, with the Metal Tech mod.
With 2x anti-aliasing and it is still very playable.
Medieval Dynasty, it has a really cool Kingdom Come: Deliverance 'life as a peasant' vibe to it.
And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.

Bin Weevils. Sometimes minecraft.
Apparently this is what some of my friends think of me here:
"Always drunk." - Nights
"He's cool." - Pi
"[INSULT] [INSULT] [INSULT]." - Sparky
"He's adorable." - Leere
"¯\_(ツ)_/¯" - Digits
in 2022 I'm still playing Quake 3 Arena, it's a classic. I had to start over last night though because the save file on Steam cloud got corrupted. The daft app doesn't even check to see if the save files are valid before it replaces them on the cloud, so not surprising there have been other complaints about this.
I'll just have to rely on manual backups for the time being, I can get everything back though, the kill streaks and other stats as well as the finished campaign.
dota 2 and mainkrfat, I lost my entire 21 years to these two games
I think Minecraft Forge was my top last year. This site has a wide range of Minecraft games from all the old classics and up to all the newest games. If someone still didn't hear about Super Friday Night Funki vs Minecraft i would highly recommend to check it out. I had a lot of fun playing it yesterday for hours.
So far, Elden Ring.
