I enjoy the boundless opportunities for creative problem-solving that minecraft has to offer, it's why I play the game. When I'm not playing I like to frequent forums like this one or PMC to see if anyone needs help with something I can assist them with since this too allows me to come up with creative solutions to problems. Generally I try to stay away for thing that are a matter of discussion, opinion or suggestion since these are abstracts that have multiple viewpoints, each with its own degree of validity, and I don't see participating as doing anything more than increasing drama and adding it to my life.
Despite my normal apprehension to participate in forum discussions about 2 months ago I found myself intrigued my a PMC forum post called We Need To Do Something! While was a post and poll regarding what people perceived to be the 'biggest problem on Earth' and it listed a few things having to do with the destruction of the environment, pollution of the seas, mistreatment of animals and so on. While look at this I couldn't help but notice that everything on the list was a byproduct of humanity and its degree a side-effect of human over-population so I created what I believed to be a thoughtful and reasoned reply stating my observation and suggesting that a significant reduction in the human population was both the worlds best bet at surviving humanity and humanity's continued survival on Earth. The OP of the thread had a follow up question, which I answered, and much to my surprise I received a decent flood of praise and agreement. That was on Jan 22nd and slowly I forgot all about my involvement in this discussion.
Today I logged onto PMC to see if anyone was in need of help (I had just finished rebuilding someone's mixpack for them) and I was confronted with this:
I had NO IDEA what this was about, as I have never advocated suicide or genocide, so I sent a message to the Moderator who banned me asking what was going on. For anyone who doesn't know PMC has a 'leveling system' which is really stupid and pointless but the impulse to 'level up' seems to drive a lot of people on the site to make quality or interactive posts, hoping people will give them an "Emerald" which equates to Exp and allows them to level up. I mention this because after writing the message I noticed that my level had dropped significantly and when I clicked on the 'We Need To Do Something!' thread I saw all of my replies has been deleted and this Azie guy (the same guy who banned me for a post made over a month and a half ago that received critical acclaim) who again alluded to to fact I was somehow advocating genocide or suicide, and cited it as cause for locking the thread.
I have problems with this for a few reason: primarily that the assertion I was lobbying for people to commit suicide or genocide. Anyone who actually read my post knows that at no time did I ever advocate genocide or self-termination, if they had thought that's what I meant I doubt they would've given me so many emeralds. However, since my posts were all deleted, there is no way for me to defend my position, what I said or to clarify the content. This guy just suddenly decided to delete everything I wrote, call it 'inappropriate' and 'disturbing' and insinuate suicide and genocide what was I was suggesting, lock the thread, and ignore my messages to them questioning why they did it or what they thought I said that was advocating suicide or genocide. It's just factually untrue.
Beyond being accused of doing something and having beliefs that I, in fact, do not there is the situation as a whole. PMC's forum rules can be clearly read on their site: https://www.planetminecraft.com/rules/ and even if I had made a post saying "The solution to humanity's woes would be to kill all the Grompflomites and replace suicide hotlines with handgun rentals" that wouldn't actually be a violation of any rule. I'm being punished not only for something I didn't do, but what I'm accused of isn't even something forbidden by them or their rules.
Years ago I came to the conclusion that PMC is a child's forum with extremely poor minecraft help or discussion and Minecraftforum is where people who know what they're doing and looking for serious input or discussion go. Despite PMC being a terrible Minecraft site I kept going simply because I know people looking for help find their way there just as they find their way here. I'm done with that now. I imagine when I get unbanned tomorrow I will make a forum thread similar to this one, pointing out the fact I was punished for something I didn't do and wouldn't have violated the rules if I had, and I imagine that it'll either be deleted and/or I'll be banned again by the Azie person for pointing out they did something improper. At any rate, I'm done offering the PMC community here- I'm just going to ammend my signature to suggest anyone needing Minecraft help look for me here, where the big boys play and know how to do it.
And that concludes my rant, thank you for listening.
Having used both websites. I honestly think both websites are great and have their own respective niche. Planet Minecraft (PMC) is more geared towards the uploading of projects/maps/resources packs while Minecraft Forum's main draw is of course the forum section(s) and discussion.
If you have any issue with the moderation on PMC. I'd suggest you try submitting a ticket on their site here. Explain in detail the issue that you have (like how you did in this thread) and I'm sure they will be happy to help.

Thanks for the suggestion, I had already done that. I explained the situation almost identically to the way I presented it here. I asked them what I said that made them think I supported genocide or suicide and asked them to inform me as to what rules I had broken. This was the response I got this morning:
I'll spare you the very long and detailed response I had to this but obviously I pointed out that genocide is a discriminate action and the reason I used the word 'indiscriminate' is because it precludes genocide as an option. I also explained what an idiom is and what "could you pull the trigger?" means in a non-literal sense. I also took significant issue with what he claimed were rules I'd broken since my posts actually received quite a bit of praise and I don't see how he could claim it 'negatively impacts the community' that is voting for it and giving it praise. He also uploaded part of the terms of use which was nonsense because nothing said was unlawful, abusive, threatening, obscene (I'll leave lewd out since it's the same thing) or defamatory and while he could argue my statements were deemed 'offensive' and 'objectionable' my statements were factual and supported by science and statistic so it's kind of like deeming the statement "The Earth is round" offensive and objectionable- some people certainly object to the assertion the Earth is round but it's a scientific fact and accepted reality so that assessment doesn't hold up.
The whole "You were not the only user banned for similar topics of discussion on this thread" was great, it reminded me of when you scold a child and their response is: "But he did it to." Just as one child's poor behavior is not a valid excuse for another child's misbehavior, a ban isn't justified by saying "We banned other people too."
Honestly I've never gotten anything of benefit from PMC so I'm going to delete them from my history and it will have no impact on my life beyond not having to deal with this nonsense again. I just hate to think of all the people who ask for help there only to have their threads disappear into the feed without ever receiving an answer.
