On the comparison of Beer vs. Water, beer can actually dehydrate you instead of hydrate you. If you were stranded in the middle of the desert, for example, drinking alchohol instead of water would decrease your chances of surviving, as opposed to water.
Of course, nutrition-based, I'm not sure how beer compares to water. And taste-wise is a subjective matter.

A major downside of water is that it's not beer though.
While beer may not in fact contain water or enough water to keep you from dehydrating, it does contain a good deal of nutrients and over long term moderate consumption brings with it health effects. To start: brewer's yeast is high in magnesium, selenium, potassium, phosphorus, biotin, chromium and B vitamins. It's also been referred to as "liquid bread" in some parts and has a respectable level of calories, therefore you can possibly get your caloric intake from beer in part as well as a few vitamins and minerals.
Long-term drinking at moderate levels may also reduce the risk of adverse health conditions such as stroke or cardiac disease. For this you would need to be drinking 1 to 2 glasses, or some say.
The process by which beer is brewed too may also impact the nutrition in beer. It's not always brewed with hops and you can also use fruits in the process. Honey might make it closer to mead.
That said, sailors used to mix beer with water. Not because they hated they couldn't get drunk on water, but the alcohol in beer helped to kill bacteria in standing, stored water. The resulting mixture is what we get grog from. On long voyages where you may be at risk of your stored water stagnating and becoming a haven of bad bacteria, introducing a certain amount of booze will help clean it up and make it safe to drink, while not dehydrating you.
When I was younger I would sometimes try my moms coffee. She got a weird, cold, gross kind of coffee, so thus I always thought coffee was gross and never got into it. I bet if I would try it now then I might appreciate it more, but I'm content to be content.

I have coffee almost every morning with my neighbors recently, they are fun to just chill with
I can't understand how people enjoy drinking something hot and bitter. Any form of coffee is disgusting and leaves a bad taste in my mouth for a while.
Now hot chocolate, THAT'S a real drink anyone can't deny.

I stopped drinking coffee daily a while back, got enough sleeping issues without adding a stimulant to the situation. Every now and then I still have a cup. But when I do I use only milk, no water. Very smooth, hot and tasty, and less bitterness than watered coffee. I recommend a milk only coffee.
I don't drink coffee. Drinks served hot/warm are alright but I prefer to have a nice cold beverage over a hot one. Additionally, coffee has the opposite effects on me than it is supposed to have in that it actually makes it harder for me to stay awake.

My DeviantArt, so sexy
Looking through my old forum avatars for something to use and it seems like almost none of them would be allowed here. What a shame.
I guess I will just keep this one for now.

Coffee is better than all drinks, period.

What's this? Something Dextrous and I can agree on?

May try adding caramel in the future tho.

I need to know how Mrs. Fields makes their delicious, moist, chocolate chip cookies.
You could probably develop an even tastier cookie of your own if you google the heck out of different choc chip cookie recipes.
