Yes, but the conversation was kind of already started when you were talking about how to become a mod. It doesn't seem like there was much of a point to ask a question about it when it was already brought up. Still, it's not like it really makes a difference at this point, I just don't see a reason to have done it.

Okay i swear to god now some kind of intrusive ad on MCF has made my page go to a different NSFW page twice now.
What the hell MCF, i can't swear but this is ok?
If it happens again, get the URL and PM it to an admin or moderator (make sure to preface it with the fact that the forum is redirecting you to the link so we don't think you are just spamming NSFW stuff to the worst target possible lol), a URL makes it way easier to track things down.

Heeey I actually plan on going to bed at a decent time. Gotta get in the full 10 boxes of Pokemon breedjects per day like I used to as opposed to the 5 boxes I've been doing as of late.

Bed...at a...decent time? Hah, ever since summer started I've been getting no sleep. Decent time for me now it 12 in the afternoon.
I'm going to lucid dream tonight.... I will.... I will....
Some advice for lucid dreaming is that if you don't normally sleep with A/C try sleeping in a room with A/C. Most of my lucid dreams have occurred in rooms with A/C. Of course, chances are that if you don't normally sleep in rooms with A/C, you probably don't have an A/C unit in the first place...

My battle.net is Kirbyintron#1254, if you want to play some Overwatch with me.
My avatar is a sprite of Mr Saturn from the Earthbound/Mother series of Role Playing Games.
You could always just have stricter rules in it instead of removing it all together.
Like what kind of rules do you have in mind? As I recall, discussions in that section would often escalate and turn into bickering and insults. The rules that were already in place for the entire forum weren't being followed. Keeping the section appropriate was always a struggle between staff and members.
Not allowing controversial topics that would evolve into that sort of stuff. I think there should also be reminder of the forum rules in a sticky thread also. Heres what I have in mind. Is banning people from a certain section, topic, or thread possible?
I don't think that's possible, it wasn't when I was staff here.
1. All forum rules apply.
2. If things evolve into flame wars, insults, etc. 1st time is a warning, 2nd time is a 3 day ban, 3rd time is banned from the section. Banning points and such also apply to this section
3. No controversial topics (Philosophy, Evolution, Relgion, maybe politics (Not sure)
4. Be polite and respectful.
5. Politics is allowed as long as the discussion is civil and polite. If a flame war starts, that thread is locked/deleted and not allowed to be posted again.
PPNS was almost completely dedicated to the controversial topics you listed. What would be the purpose of the section after removing those things? What would be discussed? To me, the conundrum is how to give people a place to discuss those topics where emotion and plain old immaturity won't ruin sensitive discussions.
The members active in that section were not wary of bans and warnings. Many were only here to discuss those topics, and if they couldn't do it abrasively against others, and in the form of 2000 word essays, they'd rather accept the bans and warnings.
6. Users that have a history of breaking rules are not allowed to post in this section. Unless they appeal (also ties in to the appeal section I have suggested)
Stricter bans/warnings/etc for those involved. Just because it gets out of hand doesn't mean it needs to be removed. Removing bad users/threads/etc would probably work best. I also think we need a section dedicated for appeals, like if they are sorry or whatever, when a user is banned, they are allowed to post only in that section, if they break rules in that section, then they have a harsher or perma ban.
Okay, seriously though, we want a section that can host intellectual discussions, it can't be all about banning and excluding, not to mention it sounds like it would be very difficult to keep an organized list of who is and isn't allowed at that point. It needs to be supported by a community that values polite discussion. It can't be what it was before but with stricter rules and moderation.
So what solution to this problem do you suggest? Without removing the section?
I'm not confident that PPNS topics can have a place on this forum without hosting heated arguments and insults. However, if it were revived like this thread, I would suggest not making a section, and instead allowing PPNS topics in General Off Topic like how it was originally. I think that would make the discussions more diverse, and allow people who are less focused on those topics to weigh in more often, instead of seeing the same 10 members replying to each other in walls of text.
It comes down the community though. If the community here just isn't mature enough to discuss mature topics, then it is what it is.
I can entirely understand how the staff do not want such a controversial section on a site that supposed to be inherently "kid-friendly" (Though most kids that play Minecraft are cursing at their moms, blasting Eminem and making obscene jokes in server chat), but to be fair, as I said before, it was quite a popular thread and it brought a lot of educated people that wanted nothing with Minecraft and simply be on the PPNS. It was strangely sophisticated and adored. When it was announced it would be shut down, it got an unprecedented amount of backlash and consequently a lot of members either leaving or being coming very inactive, such as myself.
Literally, if you want to avoid kids being exposed to "not family-friendly content", put an age limit. Before someone can access it, they have to put in their birthdate. Of course they can lie about it, but that would just prove that kids are willingly looking at the content, not stumbling and being "exposed" to it. I'm almost certain I've suggested this before.
The main problem with PPNS was not that controversial topics should not be on a family friendly forum. I'm personally interested in PPNS related topics, and I would become very annoyed at the lack of respect and sensitivity I'd see when I read threads in PPNS, even though I discuss similar topics with others in person on a regular basis. It was not an issue with the discussion topic, it was an issue with the members engaged in the discussion having little or no respect for everyone else.
That shouldn't be a reason to take it down, and not surprisingly, that's not what the staff have said in the midst of all of the backlash. I also think that if they take it down for one reason, they shouldn't keep it down for another. I have offered a solution to why they took it down. The intensity of the conversations within PPNS were what made it so attractive, and clearly when the staff decided to shut down PPNS that was not a primary reason. The lack of respect was what made PPNS so great, and consequently PPNS made Off-Topic so active.
That's just not true. The insults, hostility, and lack of respect have always been the primary reason PPNS was taken down, and that was stated publicly multiple times by Metadigital, who was the admin of Off Topic at the time.
And I disagree that a lack of respect is what made PPNS great. If it was ever great, then that was before it became insensitive and shallow.
Your interests may evolve over time, you may become less interested in Minecraft, however this is a Minecraft forum and that's what the focus of this site will always be. The Off Topic section exists to provide a place for non-Minecraft discussion within our community but that discussion can't come at the expense of our core focus: Minecraft. Minecraft is a game played by people of all ages, and this website as a consequence is visited by people of all ages. Although we could conceivably invest time and energy into creating a walled garden for mature discussion that isn't suitable for our average member, it's a misallocation of resources and it compromises what we're trying to achieve, we don't want to have a forum filled with secret sections.
If you want to have mature discussions about non-Minecraft topics then you would be much better off finding forums that cater to those topics. There are many great websites for discussions of all sorts of topics, and discussions on those websites will far exceed the quality of the discussion you could expect to see here. If you want to discuss mature topics with the regulars in this section then you're more than welcome to create your own forum and invite those that you want to discuss these topics with, as has been done before.
Conversation is fun after all!

I'll forward this to citricsquid. But you should give your PC a scan with malwarebytes just in case it's your PC doing the redirects.

Oh right I'm not a moderator anymore, oops.
The ads are tailored to your browsing habits
Well, i actually use the Tor browser for all that, and this is happening in chrome.
Every other ad i've seen is about rubiks cubes and Cartoon Network merch.
A return of PPNS would be cool, but I'm not confident that it would turn out any better than it was when it was closed.
