"S-sir, you can't come in here with no shirt on... You will s-scare the other gues-s-sts-s." The waiter writes down the order anyways, and turns to the girl. "How about you mis-s-s."
I honestly don't know what to say to this.
Also, it IS possible to give a character cookie-cutter powers and a generic 2sad5me backstory and still have a good character. It's just that MOST people who utilize them generally suck at writing characters.
And on the topic of 2sad5me backstories, that's the fastest way to make people go "Oh, it's gonna be THIS kind of story isn't it."
I think it comes down to the empathy issue I mentioned before. The people who write these sorts of things do it to try and win easy sympathy points I think. But they fall short and figuring out how it can effect the character down the road and pull that off in an interesting manner.
Failed comic reliefs characters. I think we all know that one character from Star Wars Episode 1 that fits what I'm talking about.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
Characters with an overpowered 'I'm angry, gonna kill you with insanity" Mode, and most of the differences that character has when they 'mutate' is either: 1) They turn black and have red eyes. 2) Some kind of overlarge wolf or predator (usually black with red eyes, sometimes anthropomorphic, and is on steroids). 3) Horns, demon tails, demon wings, etc. 4) All of the above.
It's not even a fan OC thing, you will find it in most animes as well.
EDIT: Just realized I'm guilty of this, please don't kill me.
