Yes. It puts you in your personal zone by cutting out background noise. I also feel that it makes the brain more active, increasing the speed at which you can process information.
Do you feel that music makes you feel stronger emotions? (I.E happy, sad)
Absolutely. The mood of music makes massive difference in the portrayal of emotions in modern media. The sad moments in games and movies would not nearly be as sad if they didn't have that sweeping, emotional string track.
Do you feel that music helps in all situations?
No. It helps in most situations, but I can't listen to music when I'm trying to go to sleep.
Do you believe that different types of genres of music surface different emotions/effects to you? (please specify a genre if possible)
Yes, but only by energy. I put emotions on a 2D grid, one dimension being positivity and the other being energy. For example, sadness is low-positivity low-energy, anger is low-positivity high-energy, excitement is high-energy high-positivity, etc.
A genre like Heavy metal is naturally high-energy, so if you try to do a sad Heavy Metal song it'll most likely come off as angry. On the other hand a genre like Chillwave is low-energy, so if you try to do an angry Chillwave song it'll probably just feel sad.
Do you feel that music makes you feel stronger emotions? (I.E happy, sad)
When listening to songs i know very few others have heard, i tend to feel lonely, so yes.
Do you feel that music helps in all situations?
Not ALL situations, but quite a lot of them.
Do you believe that different types of genres of music surface different emotions/effects to you? (please specify a genre if possible)
Yes. I know when i listen to rock, i start feeling annoyed because of how loud and sharp it tends to be. Also, when listening to Last Exile's soundtrack, i tend to feel almost alone.
Depends. I tend to loop songs until the newness wears out and it kind of fades into the background. At that point, yes. But if it's a song I've just heard and am still addicted to, I'm too focused on the music to concentrate. xD
Do you feel that music makes you feel stronger emotions? (I.E happy, sad)
Sometimes. Mostly when I link it to my writing.
Do you feel that music helps in all situations?
I would say blasting music at every second of every day would be a bad idea. xD
Do you believe that different types of genres of music surface different emotions/effects to you? (please specify a genre if possible)
It's not really the genre, mostly the song itself and its lyrics or its tone. A sad country song gets me just as much as a sad pop or rock song.
those of you wondering why i don't have an active RP (so far none). i try. but whenever i get to the rules section of it my computer restarts. computer: i realise what your telling me and i give up.
Not really. I concentrate the best in complete silence. Music is just a distraction.
Do you feel that music makes you feel stronger emotions? (I.E happy, sad)
Depends. If it's just a poorly written song (radio songs), then there's no impact. But if it's a good song with meaningful lyrics, I might feel something.
Do you feel that music helps in all situations?
No.
Do you believe that different types of genres of music surface different emotions/effects to you? (please specify a genre if possible)
Yes. It really depends. A violin doesn't make me feel happy, it makes me feel a bit sad, but it really depends on the song. Like a dramatic classical song would make me feel a bit more sad than a song that uses it like When You Were Young.
Too right, I get immensely focused when a bloody good jam is rocking.
Do you feel that music makes you feel stronger emotions? (I.E happy, sad)
Absolutely, imagine films without the scoring, all my favourite scenes might as well be trash.
Do you feel that music helps in all situations?
Not necessarily, there are unique moments in time where music is inappropriate and silence is perhaps the best substitute.
Do you believe that different types of genres of music surface different emotions/effects to you? (please specify a genre if possible)
Of course, I'd be listening to some Oasis and that'll be a smashing, on the other hand when I listen to some Tyler, the Creator I'm either quite crossed or melancholic as well as humored.
I would like to test this by conducting a survey, please respond in chat,or somehow a way to get the info to me if possible

Yes as stated in #2 it does. Especially classical and J-pop. But I have a large bias to the latter due to being Eurasian and the context.

Jazz makes me feel happy, Classical relaxes me, and whenever I feel like throwing things, EDM is a great way to vent my stress.
