Lately my family has been pointing out over and over again how I (supposedly) pronounce the word "been" weird. I've never payed much attention to many other peoples' pronunciation of the word, but I've been saying it "beeeen" like the food and when I do my mother or father will point it our to me. I was wondering if anyone else pronounces the word this way or if anybody thinks that it isn't appropriate to pronounce been like the food.

All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king
It seems there are a lot more people who pronounce it "bean" than I expected!
I remember learning that accents usually come from a child's peers' accents when thy're growing up. I wonder if promoumciations appear in the same way since my family all say "bin."

I pronounce it the same way I pronounce bin
I pronounce it "Ben" here.
Technically, it's pronounced "bɪn" or bin. Bean works, but not right. If you're British or something, it's normal though.

Sounds like something someone from New Zealand would say.
I just say been (b-een). The same as the vegetable.

Yeah, now that I think about it, I choose bin/ben, which ever flows with my sentence better,
I say it like bean.
I also say third like turd.

Bin, as in trash bin.
"Bin." But I also say "kwair-y" instead of "queer-y" (query) and "key-ho-tik" instead of "quick-sah-tik" (quixotic).
Putting the CENDENT back in transcendent!
Bin

Where are you from? That's a curious form of pronunciation.
I pronounce it bin.
That's only because I learned of Don Quixote before the word "quixotic".

I say 'bean' but with a shorter vowel sound. Sometimes I pronounce it with a schwa when I'm just speaking lazily.
Actually in New Zealand you'd pronounce it "bin", "ben", or "bean", depending on context.
