I'll ask a simple question, and hope to get a simple answer.
Why is it whenever an individual finds oil, they get all excited, i mean i know finding oil is good and all but i don't know why they have to get excited over it.
Yeah, I don't know. It's just like the time my neighbor was digging a hole in his backyard to plant a tree and found a chest full of pure gold. I don't get why he could possibly be so excited, I mean, finding gold is good and all but I don't know why he had to be so excited over it.

Oil is a very important resource. How do you think people get around? It's literally the SOURCE of all transportation (mostly at least). Aside from transportation, it's used to generate heat, drive machinery, and to manufacture a lot of products like plastics medicine, paints, etc.
those of you wondering why i don't have an active RP (so far none). i try. but whenever i get to the rules section of it my computer restarts. computer: i realise what your telling me and i give up.
Oil is called "liquid gold", the reason for this is because it's worth a whole bunch o' money. People usually get happy when they've just gotten a bunch of money.

And then we'll start using one of our many alternatives to oil-based power.
I'm hoping they go with nuclear, personally.

Yes, I know what happened in Fukushima. I also know that emergency coolant piping layout was changed in violation of regulations during the construction of the reactor plant, safety records for the plant had been falsified, previous reports and studies about what could possibly happen in the event of a tsunami were not taken seriously by the officials running the plant, and the entire facility was not built to withstand major earthquakes despite being constructed in an active seismic zone.

Not to say you're wrong, but do you remember what happened to Japan and the United States when Japan had that Nuclear Power Plant leak?
While it is considered safe, there are still some risks involved.
That power plant was outdated and not up to code, if it were then it would most likely not have had a melt down. The media can definitely turn opinions against going nuclear, everyone knows about Fukushima but not about any of the other power plants near Fukushima that didn't melt down. Also there's risks related to most viable forms of energy production and nuclear power is one of the safest and most efficient source of alternative energy. When the ability to create economically viable fusion reactors come out then many of our problems with burning fossil fuels will be solved (except that there are mishaps such as Fukushima and it wouldn't be renewable).

The basic problem with nuclear power isn't the danger in producing it, it's the fact that still nobody really knows what to do with nuclear waste on a large scale.
Really, solar power is the obvious energy trump-card. The only real problems involved with large-scale solar power are the manufacture of batteries and the far north and south where sunlight is not consistent enough during the winter (which may indeed be a good use case for nuclear power). Solar power has the advantage of being distributed (because it can easily reach any rural area that a large power plant doesn't cover, and even provide power off the grid), highly efficient (because power in a distributed system is localized so there is less long-distance transport), and low-maintenance (in that the only maintenance costs are in replacement of damaged parts, compared to e.g. coal or nuclear power where plants have to be constantly staffed and closely monitored). It's also future-proof in the sense of being truly renewable.

Why is it whenever an individual finds oil, they get all excited, i mean i know finding oil is good and all but i don't know why they have to get excited over it.
Let's say the individual in this example is you. Now substitute boring ol' oil for a whole bunch of money.
Yes, its exactly why you're thinking. Money is good, so oil is good. Oil is worth a lot of money, as others have said. Hope this helps.
However, the biggest problem with electric cars is that most of them have a very short range and the time such a car needs to be fully charged again often takes half a day, whereas a car with a petrol or diesel engine has a much greater range with a full tank and it doesn't take long to fuel it. There are hybrid cars, naturally, but those vehicles still have a polluting engine. In fact, I think they are even more polluting than normal cars. They've got a engine running on fossil fuel AND an electric engine, but the electricity for that engine often comes from a polluting electricity plant.
Yeah, no. 200 miles range in 20 minutes doesn't sound like a short range or a long charge time to me. Even hybrid cars are known to be much more energy-efficient than one running purely on diesel or petrol, and considering the relatively high efficiency of a power plant compared to a combustion engine, you're still looking at a lot less pollution even if you assume an electric car is getting all of its power from a coal plant (which is rarely the case anymore). If you expect anyone to take you seriously, maybe you should acquire at least a basic cursory knowledge of a topic before calling it a joke.

Solar power and wind power will definitely have their place in a greener future but they will most likely not be the energy production method that will replace fossil fuels. Nuclear power is already well-established in producing power with it supplying 20% of the power in America while solar and wind are still relatively underdeveloped. Nuclear waste isn't a huge problem, there isn't a lot of it and if more efficient plants come out there will be less production of it and it can always be stored deep in the earth or if getting out of the atmosphere gets cheaper we can send it into the sun (wooo science!). Nuclear waste isn't tubs of green goo that most people think of when nuclear waste comes up, it's usually just equipment that's been used in the plant. Solar and wind may be truly renewable but they rely entirely on the environment and the environment can be unreliable (cloudy days or there can be stagnant wind) while nuclear can operate all around the clock.

So basically, it's very very VERY important.
And if it runs out....
crude oil is being used up because less animals die then cars run out of fuel...

Cow farts produce more emissions then Volkswagonssss automobiles.
Oil can be used for cooking obviously. That is why people are happy.

Risk is involved in any industrial endeavor, that's unavoidable. Even then, nuclear power plants are actually far safer than one might expect. Fun fact, fly ash from coal-based power plants carries 100 times more harmful radiation than the nuclear waste from a comparable nuclear power plant.
rip lol
