We can, if we take up too many resources. For example, you have no idea how high the demand for food is, and how it's affecting agriculture and possibly even economy. Farms may be forced to increase their land size by destroying existing forests or areas not inhabited by people. Then theres also the case of creating more products, taking up more and more of the limited, yet vast space for people to live in or for industries. Unemployment rates (which is highly likely with a large number of people right now) may result in people doing illegal things for the sake of money and will end up affecting the world as well. There are more than that I listed which can follow from overpopulation.
I've taken a class in demography, and so far I'm aware with the concept of what overpopulation and society can do to affect the world. And so far, it can affect people and the world greatly with high birthrates and high population. And if overpopulation would drop at a significantly high number, then it will still affect the world greatly in a bad way. Things can't be solved by destroying a large number of people, society will go downwards, a meager solutions may be fixed, but then a number of problems will follow.
I'm not saying it won't affect the world, of course it will. I'm saying it won't cause the end of the human race.
The end of the humanity requires every human to die. At some point while people are dying from overpopulation, the population has to drop to a sustainable level. After that, it would naturally stabilise, as now there are enough resources to sustain the reduced population.
Of course it's bad, but it's not the end of the world
i know its just minding blowing of how much we have changed and invented just it the last 100 years.
Not to mention that technology now a days is improving much faster. In just 15 years we went from Nokia hand held flip phones with black and grey pixelated screens, to the iPhone 6 which allows you to check Heart rate, allow you to have a conversation with your phone, use simple gestures and words to allow you to access anything on your phone without even touching it and practically more mind blowing features.
It's not just phones, it's nearly any revolutionary technology that is beginning to make it's way into modern life more and more. Cars, medicine, theories, industrialism, a plethora of ideas to come or already has come.

Maybe not, but if Humans were brought down to a population of say, 1 billion to 2 billion due to the following things I've listed, there would still be more problems and little solutions. And while nature would be able to restart again for us to use it or to a sustainable level, it won't take as long as to how humans would be able to regain their power once again.
It may not destroy the human race completely, but slow it down.
I will need to side with EnderGirl on this one, overpopulation is a very real threat to our existence, which is why China limited their people to one child per family. It is simple maths. The earth simply can not sustain too many people unless we devise some variety of Food Replicator Machines, like on Star Trek, but that invention is, as far as i can tell, a long way off.
Lolwut. The "one child per family" law is not in place anymore, it hasn't been since 1985. Families of this generation are allowed to have up to two children. The reason the Chinese had to enforce that rule had to do with the simple fact that they could not produce enough rice, which is the typical daily meal of every low class family, forcing them to turn into importing it from the US. It's not that they don't have any place to put those people in or to grow more rice, China is a vast country and they are more than able to. It's just not working out financially for them.

What? China is one of most densely populated areas in the world as well as inhabits a large potion of Asia. That law was to at least stabilize the population in China or probably even the total world population. There are a lot of people in China who want to have kids.
Maybe that one reason you stated could be another, because I listed more than one reason of what overpopulation can do. But generally, China really needs to repair itself.

I feel like you don't have a clue about how big China is. I'll give you a hint, it is bigger than all of the European countries combined.
Overpopulation in China is only a deal in large cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. To reduce the urban population, the Chinese have a much more intelligent system in place: expensive rents and housing costs. A 65 square metre apartment in Shaoyaoju, one of the most crowded districts in Beijing, costs around 170,000 US dollars to purchase.
The villages and the smaller cities of the mainland are rather chill to live in. Sky's all blue there and stuff.

I did not speak for their present situation, i was giving one example of population control. I said, they "limited" their, not they "limit" their. Read more carefully.
This is true yet does not change the fact that northern China is mostly covered in smog - because Soviet coal-fired powerplants and factories were built there. Central, eastern and southern provinces are more healthier and huge "ghost cities" are built there - megapolyses with nobody living there, waiting for inhabitants who do not come. Why? because people have to work and you cannot live 400 km away from your work, commuting would take too much time. And these vast empty cities provide no workplaces.
China is so twisted and strange in so many ways...
One of the ways they deal with overpopulation is government-backed system of hospitals where women can have free abortions. While in the whole world embryons after abortion are used as a source of cells for regenerative medicine (I hope you know this) , Chinese boil the embryons and make soup of them, and this soup is considered a delicacy, mostly intended for high party bureaucrats and rich people - because "eating flesh of unborn makes you stronger, younger and healthier, as you gain their lifeforce" and I hope you will never see this with your own eyes (though videos are on Youtube).
I really hope China will overcome its challenges and struggles peacefully, but from what is happening now - they are preparing for huge war with Russia and this is a much more possible scenario than ponies and unicorns, unfortunately.
I have no idea about what makes you think the Chinese are preparing a war with the Russians. Their current goal is repositioning all of the heavy industry plants outside of Beijing in an attempt to reduce the smog. And yes, they are currently planning out the construction of nuclear power plants as well as a new superdam just outside of Beijing, which will be powered by the Yangtze river.
Regarding that thing about baby abortion, well it has much more to do with the lack of human rights education in China and less with top secret Illuminati coverups that you're suggesting.

Its waaaay too early to speculate. But if I had to say, I would say some kind of nuclear war.
It's not really early, I mean if you just search: "How will the world end?" or "When will the World end?" You'll find a lot of articles, blogs, and maybe even news and videos about it.
We humans are hopefully not stupid enough to cause ourselves ultimate destruction through the means of nuclear war, which would only happen through illogical actions (if so, it would most likely be the result of religious ideals.)
My first presumption for our extinction would be that the human species would collapse into obscurity and eventually become extinct through environment exploitation and destruction, which the majority of us are unfortunately not smart enough to avoid at this point in time.
The Earth will probably be annihilated when our star expands and encompasses us, which our species will not be around to witness.

You're funny. You should try some stand up comedy
Many, if not the majority of religions worldwide now agree - if on nothing else - that we are living in the end days, and if we are not, then those days are not far off. For instance, the majority of Christians (of all denominations) believe very strongly that these are the end days because of the overwhelming amount of biblical "end day" prophesies that are coming true at present. But like i said, they are not alone in these beliefs - and neither are the accumulation of other religious sects alone in these beliefs, for many people and sects in the world of science will also agree that the earth is well overdue for a catastrophic event (meteor impact or otherwise) that may come close, if not achieve, the annihilation of our species.
But you may be correct about one thing, a nuclear war isn't out of the question.....

Waaaay too early???? I think not, young one.....
I would give at least a thousand years in my opinion.
How will the world end... hmm... maybe it already has and we are all sharing the same afterlife, or maybe we are in some variety of Matrix, like... say... on the matrix movies. My mother said my grandmother used to say the world would end in the year 2000. It didn't, but that was the year she passed away. So i guess she was right in a way.... God love her. She was great, but i was too young to remember her.
There are so many things wrong with this, I don't even know where to start...

Where is Option 7?
Option 7: Endergirl will take over the world and enslave every human and kill them all in various ways.
