X-mas is for celebrating the birth of Jesus( don't tell me u don't know that), but right now, people is forgetting the spirit of X-mas. Some people think that X-mas is just for "getting gifts", but that is totally wrong. X-mas is for "Giving", not for "Getting". It shouldn't be "Materialized".
Christmas has always been a family event to me, not a celebration of the birth of someone who holds no real significance in my life.
The giving/getting part of Christmas is different depending on what kind of person you are. People can be generous or selfish or any amount in between.
Don't worry yourself with how other people celebrate Christmas, just enjoy yourself.
What if to some X-mas is about getting gifts? X-mas shouldn't be materialized? Why not? If materialism is the new Christmas, how does that affect you? X-mas is celebrated in a very diverse number of ways by various groups of people, how can you objectively tell someone how they celebrate the holidays is "totally wrong?"
There is no "wrong" way to celebrate a holiday, it's just a different way. Holidays are about whatever people want them to be. I could celebrate X-mas by eating 3 jars of peanut butter every year and it still wouldn't be the "wrong" way to celebrate it. Holidays evolve along with the people who celebrate them, they don't stay the same forever. X-mas is a good example of this. X-mas has a very long history like many other holidays, it still is and hasn't stopped evolving.

You obviously don't understand. Let me explain.
Christmas is not anything for you to dictate - it's what anyone wants it to be, if they decide it should be for getting gifts and material objects then so be it. It's not for you to decide that it should be all about Jesus. Some people aren't Christian you know, but still celebrate this event to share and give. Christmas means different things for different people.
Furthermore, you said that people are totally wrong for thinking that Christmas is for getting gifts, you also said Christmas is for giving - So if people aren't allowed to receive things, how are others meant to give? Before making a hypocritical thread such as this, I'd suggest rethinking your ideas, so you do not appear as ignorant.
It's called an "abbreviation" (I think I spelled it wrong)
What's the problem?
I didn't mean that "people aren't allow to receive things", what I meant is that people should have more giving than receiving. That is my opinion.
Hmm, guys, I think you all get the wrong idea. What I meant is that GIVING is the main point of X-mas, it doesn't mean that "your not allow to get gifts".
I think making calm, respectful debate is not bad.
You're going to far away. My opinion doesn't mean "BAN PRESENTS", what I'm trying to say is "giving is important than receiving", you didn't get my point.
We clearly get your point, and you are saying that people should care about giving and receiving, and also about Jesus etc. But the truth is not everyone cares about this, and they shouldn't need to or be forced to - it's called freedom of choice.
Also you should stop putting quotation marks where it is unnecessary, you aren't quoting anything or writing speech of a character.

On-topic: I am an Agnostic Theist. People celebrate Christmas/Hanukkah/whatever in different ways, and that's fine. People are entitled to their own opinions and beliefs.
If you believe in Jesus, and want to celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday with your family, good for you!
If you believe in Santa, and want to celebrate Christmas with tree, cookies, and presents, good for you!
If you believe in nothing and want to sleep in on Christmas like a lazy bum, good for you!
All I'm saying is, if you think Christmas should be a religious holiday, then treat it like one. Don't let the beliefs of others tell you how you should celebrate the holidays. And that goes both ways, OP.

All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king

Agreed... THESE PEOPLE NEED JESUS
All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost

Here we have a quote (from the internet) that shows the way Christmas should be celebrated <3
All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king
