Depends. Pirating because your language isn't supported? Fine. Pirating because it has potentially damaging DRM? Fine. Pirating because it doesn't exist anymore in stores/online? Fine. Pirating because you want it for free? Not fine.

Life is not measured in the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
Depends whether I feel the movie is good enough to be payed for. If I see a movie/game which is obviously bad, I may pirate it. I would never pirate a good game/movie that deserves the cash.
Yes absolutely, I pirate most of my movies, tv-shows etc. I could never afford all of them if I had to buy them. Besides, piracy hardly harms anyone.
I've pirated language re-packs of games that I've already bought just because English is too mainstream, but pirating games because you want them isn't too good for the people who need to make money off of that game.
Think of it like this; you create a video game in a basement because you have 0 funds. You need to make at least some money off of it, as it's extremely important to you. The first few weeks you rake a good income, but a week later your income graph decreases substantially."How could this happen to me, an innocent, charismatic game developer who only needs to make a decent income for a really great game...
Pirates. Boom. Not so cool when it's reversed, eh?
I only really pirate movies if I don't feel like finding them online. I also did pirate the Sims 3 + Store content/expansion packs, but I think that's self explanatory.
Most games still make enough money to continue with making games, also if you add some online multiplayer with official servers the pirates can't play that.
Online Multiplayer, although may not be piratable, is still easily exploited. Many of the Minecraft Torrents that I have seen have many ded. servers created specifically for that torrent version. Of course we're not counting Hamachi and LAN servers, and why would you only create a game to make money off of the ONLINE MULTIPLAYER? I get it if the game is Counter-Strike or CoD where the only real purpose IS the multiplayer, but why would you focus ALL of the attention of the game on the multiplayer and not care about any funds you would make because people enjoyed the actual story of your game.
i think pirating games and items of the internet is very poor of people really glad the pirate bay is shut down for ever

i think we should all use common sense and logic when we answer and ask a question but always stay open minded
just cause science fails to explain something does not mean its real (afterlife, big foot, ghosts etc..) does not mean its fake try to stay opened mined instead of closed
Acquiring materials that are not available via normal means is acceptable to me as no potential profit is at stake at all.
However, pirating games and music, etc just because you do not have the money for it is not a valid reason at all. Even if you are a student who have to work and knows that getting food is more important, games are still just a want and not an essential need at the end of the day.
Pirating because the music or game is bad is kinda ridiculous too, why get something that you perceive is bad? Just because a game is terrible or that the music artist is a talent-less brat doesn't make you entitled to experience the product for free.
And lastly, if you think pirating from a big company is fine since 'they earned enough already/are rich enough', if the flaw of that reasoning does not dawn on you, then wait a couple years and try again.
I enjoy money, but don't have enough of it to enjoy all of the things the amount of money I have allows me to enjoy, thus it is fine and not my fault that I take other means to obtain things without paying the creator. *sarcasm off*
Just admit it. Most people don't want to pay for stuff. Then they try to justify it with reasons like "I'm protesting <insert company here> by pirating their games," or "I think it's overpriced."
I wonder how many pirates are kids who don't have access to their mom's credit card.
I'm not saying that people should not pirate, but it's clearly wrong. It is theft in the sense that the people who developed the software, filmed the movie, or recorded the music are not receiving a dime from those that torrent it. The mental gymnastics that most people do to justify themselves so they don't feel bad are pretty incredible.
My opinion about piracy and uTorrent are my following answers:
= It made the original manufacturer of the software unwary that it's spreading worldwide.
= Most wanted "pirated" software because the software from its original source are too overpriced (like what Phrossbite said)
= Piracy was cringed as the piracy site (thepiratebay site) was now defunct by the Swedish government who found the operator of thepiratebay site.
= It made several cybercrimes such as phishing, malware spreading, DDOS'ing, unethical banning of unsuspecting users.
Unfortunately, most wanted piracy, assuming that its original site was too overpriced, not aware that most have bundled with viruses, or they "did it for lulz".
Piracy, to me is = to driving over the speed limit. Its technically illegal, but its impossible for them to not only stop piracy, but enforce it against most who do it.
In order to completely stop piracy, they'd have to trample all over people's internet freedoms. And I doubt even some of the biggest anti-piracy advocates would want to go to that extreme.
And yeah, I pirate stuff. But I don't pirate everything. And guess what? Not only can they not stop me, but they'll never know about it. Its a little thing called Torguard. My ISP knows I'm downloading something, they just don't know exactly what. I also got a radar detector in my car that beeps and gives me a heads up when cops are in the area looking for speeders. I drive 85-90mph in a 70mph zone every day to work, and I don't get pulled over thanks to my little gadget.
Piracy is just another one of those laws made by society that I personally don't care about. What is legal or not makes little difference to me. I pretty much do what I damn well want within reason. And if I can break laws consistently, and blatantly when they don't have the ability to stop me, I consider that to be within reason.
The ones saying pirated stuff is often bundled with viruses honestly don't have a clue what they're talking about. They're just parroting something they heard someone else on the internet say. Its on you to read the comments, and people will tell you if the stuff is legit or not, and these websites have users who are regarded as trusted uploaders. For example on pirate bay, if it wasn't uploaded by a skull user, I didn't touch it. And I never got a virus a single time, just a few false positive hits that some scrubs thought was a virus. Modified .dll files coded to circumvent a DRM are sometimes not distinguishable from an actual trojan by certain antivirus programs. And guess what? If that antivirus isn't good enough to know the difference, then maybe you shouldn't be using it. MSE was particularly bad with false positive hits on cracked .dll files. People make a mistake when they download and install stuff by shady, random people with no commentary. You need to use good judgement when you download something.
If I could consistently and blatantly punch you in the face and not get caught would that be within reason? Sounds legit to me.
No real need to respond to that, I have no desire or illusion of chancing your though process. Yes, the odds are in your favor of not getting caught, but the boundaries are there. You screw up on the opposite side of the line, you'll have a harder time garnering any sympathy from those involved. I would like to thank you though, people like you keep me gainfully employed. The eye in the sky is watching and your fancy little radar detector won't tell you if we are watching you whip down the interstate at 85+. Clean up enough brain matter off of the roadway and the speed limit, laws, and regulations will seem reasonable; maybe even too lax.
While that is not piracy, it is utilizing something created by another without paying the requested price.
Nice, physical threats from a random peep on the internet sitting behind a keyboard. You done got me scurred kid!! I had to get some warmer clothes because of the chills you just sent down my spine! Keep the threats to a minimum or I might have to change my pants next!! TYVM. Internet tough guys, love em.
FYI, no speeding tickets in 5 years. So much for that big bad eye in the sky catching me. As long as I'm not going 26mph or more over, I don't have to worry about any serious repercussions even if I do get caught. Heck, I could afford to pay that off no problem from all the money I saved off pirated software over the years, lmao.
You'd be surprised at how little monitoring there is by the pigs during morning rush hour on the interstate. I guess they're too busy stuffing down Duncan's with their fat sausage fingers, along with their big bad eye in the sky operators.
Piracy - I make an exact copy of your car, but you still have your car.
Piracy for me is a try before you buy. I'll pirate it first, make sure I play a level or two, if I can run it and enjoy it I'll buy it, always have, always will.

Besides, if something sells, then it would've made money out of it already.
