I'm currently creating a game like this with C++ ^^
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Herobrine is a cultural item, just like any mythological creature. I am a firm believer of the Herobrine mythologies, and I listen to anyone's interpretations of his meanings. Yes he isn't real, Yes the mythology IS real, and yes many people believe his stories.
already implemented! just not released, you see, there are two versions of this game, public, and private. you are using the public one, but i have the private one, which is the one i program. once i finish programming the private one, i release it as the public one!
lol, my public version is my private version, until I take away the link (which it has been, for almost everyone)
And guys, if you open it up as a .txt file, here is what I do
#1. Download Notepad++ (And if your coding anything, download it as well)
#2. Open it up in Notepad++ (For Windows Vista there is an option when you right click it)
#3. Go to "File" and Press Save As
#4. Save as a .bat file (The list goes in alphabetical order)
#5. Play it, and Have fun
P.S. Did it really take you months to do this, or do you mean you took a couple months of break?

It's a Windows Batch File, you could look it up... what kind of computer are you using?
Anyway, it's pretty decent. Short, but good enough. I would really have to recommend learning a little of a real programming language though, it could provide ways to make the program far more interactive and interesting. Do you have any plans for a fight or anything later? Battle systems are always fun in textRPGs.
And even though you don't think it's important yet, I seriously think you need to set it up to allow you to reselect an option if you choose a number that there is no option for.

fine, ill work on it. should be done by tomorrow
turns out, its more complicated than i thought. next update, however, it will be fixed
I made about half of a batch based game, and it was a lot like this. I never got to finishing it because I started a game in Java :biggrin.gif: batch games are simple/really fun to make as a gateway code. Well done.
Yes, Batch is a great coding language for games like these, since it's pretty simple, to learn and to write. I also believe that this is mainly going to be a basic text adventure, to code it to anything else would (probably) be something similar to a waste of time.
I'm also starting to create a game in Batch (A bit more complex, with combat and stuff), where that is getting a bit complex, but I'm using it, since others are harder to learn and since I don't exactly have all the free time in the world to learn it.
(Going to Start Modding Minecraft and Learning Java soon, or C#)
If you are going to start a non-batch programming language, I suggest you start with python, it is easy to use, and you can do text-based combat games with it far more easily than a batch

Ha! One thing I've learned my friend is that starting with something easy, means you need to work your way up to the hard stuff, but if you are able to learn and understand the hard languages, everything else is (more or less) a peace of cake.
Now seriously, I'm learning java right now, through a tutorial which will eventually teach me how to create a text based java game
This is getting off-topic but, I don't have a Book for Java Knowledge, because I don't have the money. Also I'm just learning Java, so of course I wouldn't be able to implement all the cool stuff you can.
ive had one other person have that happen, but i dont know what to do!
You put up the file on Mediafire as a .txt, not a .bat. At least that's what my PC is saying.
nope, i just checked, and its a .bat file!

im good, but thanks. ya see, im making this [artly to teach myself to make batch games, so I can do it myself without any assistance

If yes, then nothing to do here.
Truly,Truly Outrageous!!
