When I found Dayz I thought it was not a mod for a game and I don't have the money to buy the games the mod is for so can you tell me some games like dayZ.
Minecraft. Did you really have to go far? You are on the MINECRAFT forums and you want to know where a ZOMBIE game is...
Other than MC i'd probably say left for dead?

"You don't get to be in charge of a group dedicated to taking down titans, by fleeing from the targets. You get them by staining your best pair of pants and killing. The only problem I have is, The stains aren't blood."
Sorry there isn't many options. DayZ is referred as what Dead Island was suppose to be instead it turned into a lifeless escort RPG with zombies and flawed mechanics IE repairing equipment.
Maybe the summer steam sale Arma II Combined forces will be half off or more currently it's only $30.
I wouldn't call it an RPG. But it has all of the eating and survival stuff that OP was asking for.
Well yes it's an RPG. You play the role of a survivor in a post-apocalyptic world, with stats, skills and the likes.

Lone Survivor, maybe? There are mutants as opposed to zombies, and it's totally story-driven, but take a look.

"I often think about that old metaphor, the one that says we are all islands on a wide sea. Especially these days, now that things are more difficult than before and the world appears to be harsher than we once imagined it to be. We are all like islands, the philosopher said. Perhaps it's true. Yet I cannot help but remember an older saying, scratched on a cave wall somewhere by a long-forgotten prophet: in the end, the sea will claim everything."
Day Z is pretty unique... The closest you're gonna get is Project Zomboid (which isn't multiplayer and gets boring fast).
There's a high demand for games like Day Z, but no real developers has gotten around to making one yet. Your options is to wait a few years for a good zombie survival game, or buy Day Z.
What is your avatar? The thing on it looks SOO familiar...
It's the Friendly Squirt from the game Bastion.

Let me see, besides project zomboid, the only other one i can think of is rogue survivor, it is a roguelike game, so it is turnbased, but i found it to be very fun.
There is also a texture pack for it that makes it more enjoyable, you can find it on their fan forums.
I just saw something called Class3. Its gonna be on Xbox Live Arcade, its not out yet and have no idea when it will be but its something to look towards i guess. http://undeadlabs.com/class3/

Holy balls, you mean to tell me DayZ is the closest thing to DayZ? Preposterous.
I enjoy this as a free game.

I apologize for interjecting here, but in my own experience this is the worst possible thing you can do with an in-development game.
*points to Terraria promising free updates for a long time and then they stop a year after it releases*
p.s. This was in production before Day Z
