So i discovered this game on steam and I tried the demos. I nearly shat myself in awe this game is so freaking amazing and based on this game and how it looks I'm surprised my computer can run the damn thing I mean this game is just freaking crap yer pants amazing. Next mission is to freaking get money to buy the damn game or get lucky with a free one >.< (economy=asshole=me being **** broke) But still go check out this game ****ing amazing I tell ya.
Only gripe about it is the controls are a wee bit wonky but other then that yes its a fantastic game (other then the last expansion ruins balance) hopefully War of the Roses while not made by the same people will be a modern day equivalent the current footage of that game seems to follow the same flow of Mount and Blade.
I love it. Got it when it was on sale a few weeks on it, played for ~30 hours so far.
Haven't played Warband or Fire&Sword yet, but planning on playing through Warband when I've finished with the original.
@Simpa, just use a lot of cavalry and give a lot of heroes the "Surgery" skill, and you can win battles with a smaller army easily.
Mine only has ~60 people, but I can take out armies of 100-120 with only 2-3 deaths.

There is no point playing the original. Warband is the same thing but updated.
I absolutely love the series, I've had warband for a while now.
It's just so satisfying having an army of Vaegir marksmen and Nordic Huscarls slaughter everything that I can't reach (my character is a super-soldier in their own right)
I got this cheap the other day but am still to venture in...
what exactly is the gameplay about? Like a rough version of Shogun or ???..
It was Fire & sword i got...
No. No. Go get Warband now, unless you want to be shot off your horse every single fight. It'd be alot better to start with Warband really. The gameplay is complicated. You nasicly build your characters (and certain NPC's you hires) stats, and build an army of Mercenaries. Then you can start a Kingdom by besieging castles or marrying certain (wo)men. All of the traveling is pretty much RTS format, but once you go into battle you can kill the enemy from your characters perspective and order your troops in real time as you battle. It's really complicated, so I think you should have gotten Warband first.
Sweet im getting it soon then.. Was wondering how to play after getting shot a few times during training mission lol... Feels like an old rpg kinda with the old tech style, which i like. Can you build towns n cities wherever u want in the game?
Nope. You have to siege castles. I recommend becoming a mercenary for a faction.
If you're defending, use Vaegir marksmen positioned ontop of the battlements, and Huscarls positioned at the entry point.
If you're attacking, use Vaegir marksmen to shoot people of the battlements, and Huscarls to charge at the entry point!
Cavalry aren't very good at sieges, but dominate at open areas (as one would expect)
If you want an easy siege, I would recommend charging the Khergate Kahnate (derp spelling) Since they are mostly cavalry, although beware skirmishes, as the topography of their land is mainly flat.
Battle Stratagey for General Skirmishes:
Make sure you have at least 12 cavalry.
Always tell your archers to get closer.
When going on military campaigns, filling the rest of the open space in your army with just recruits is always a help.
Make sure your NPCs with important skills (ie, training, etc) are well equipped.
Make sure you stay alive. Horse Archery is the best style of combat for a character.
Make sure your horse is fast. Speed is always better than armor.
