It depends, really. They're both extremely different games. I've had way more fun playing Call of Duty 4 or World at War than I've had playing Ocarina of Time. It's just more exciting and varied. Though, if we're talking about MW2, 3, or Black Ops, I think most Zelda games would beat them. Call of Duty just has more replayability.
How can you even compare both games when they are quite literally opposite genres of each other?
Call of Duty is much superior to Zelda in many way. Zelda is much superior to Call of Duty in many ways. Because they're completely opposite genres. I can't shoot people with a gun in Zelda.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Sometimes I'm in the mood for an adventure, sometimes I'm in the mood for gunning down some Nazis.
I really don't get why these two games are being compared. The legend of Zelda is a great game that has great storylines and worlds. Call of Duty is also a good game that has good gameplay, good multiplayer(on ocassions), and plenty of replayabilty. They are completely different games so you really can't say one is better. It would be one thing to compare Call of Duty with something like Halo, but I don't understand why you are comparing the two. Well anyway I enjoy The Legend of Zelda much more then I do to Call of Duty so I like Zelda better.
ZELDA FTW! So what if Sgt. ***hole has an 'epic' gun, Link has the Master fringing sword AND the triforce of courage! Link could beat ANY CoD character's ASS. *cools down from nerdrage* Anyway the Zelda games just feel.. magical.
Zero points were made. Not because i prefer CoD but:
Combat.
LoZ: Swing dat sword over and over again.
CoD: Shoot the bad guys head off with a shotgun or blow him up with a predator missile.
Camera.
LoZ: Dreadful, stuck in walls repeatedly.
CoD: First person camera is superior.
Multiplayer.
LoZ: ???
CoD: Plenty of levels to go through and plenty of guns to unlock.
As you can see it goes both ways and you can't compare LoZ and CoD because there is too much difference. I still prefer the LoZ games as a game but to compare the two? No that doesn't work.
I would also like to bring up why the maturity of the playerbase would change how good it is when one of the games doesn't even support online play. Some people these day... What were you thinking?
Ok, I'm gonna have to agree with that last part. You can't really compare the two. I still prefer Zelda by a longshot though (not saying that you prefer CoD). I'm a 12 year old Zelda fan!.

Be caring, please help my dragon hatch by giving him a little click.
LoZ: Creative story Line about a demon lord and a hero saving his lover
CoD: Basically a history book you can play
PUZZLE'S
LoZ: Sometimes hard puzzles
CoD: Lol wut
MATURITY OF PLAYERS
LoZ: "Alright......How am I gonna solve this thing....."
CoD: "WOW NOOB YOU SUCK BECAUSE I SLEPT WITH YOUR MOM LAST NIGHT!"
I think I made my point
This post makes me question the maturity of Zelda fans. I don't play either series, but from these comments I can already tell you're incredibly biased towards Zelda. For a start; a hero saving a princess from an evil villain has been a fantasy cliche for hundreds of years, in fact, it's arguably one of the least creative plot devices in fantasy. I'm not saying CoD's plot is original, but calling Zelda's plot creative and saying CoD's isn't (simply because it's based on real life) is, well, biased.
Are you seriously comparing the two in terms of puzzle quality? Seriously? Zelda is built largely around puzzles, CoD is built largely around combat, so naturally zelda will have better puzzles. Using it as an argument is downright stupid. I could just as easily say Zelda sucks because of its gunplay.
Zelda doesn't have multiplayer and is Nintendo exclusive. Need I say more?
Not to say that I think CoD is better than Zelda, but please, give some actual reasons why you prefer it.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
They are not in the same genre, therefore you cannot compare them effectively. In my opinion at least.
Incorrect. You can compare them, it's just: why would you?

Well, I will admit I felt I just had to get that out, but I guess now I agree that in reality, you can't really compare them. I mean okay, I've been a long time Legend of Zelda fan, but I play CoD sometimes and really, I guess they BOTH have overly used story lines. I guess I am just making my previous statement void by saying that both games are good, but could stand to lose there "Gimmicks" and try something new. Take CoD Black Ops 2, It differs from the other games because instead of using overly used kill steaks such as airstrikes and stuff, you used more things like a microwave turret thingy that slows down enemy's and slowly kills them. But in Skyward Sword instead of using an arrow to unlock those eye lock thingies, you spin your sword to make them dizzy and attack when there eyes are spinning. I guess that my old statement was just made simply out of ignorance, when I could have listen to the facts and gone with both.
It's also from playing many Zelda games and several COD games I just prefer Zelda over COD. I also find the story better even though similar with some new characters except for Zelda and Link, and Ganon.
Well, both are different so so many ways... It just doesn't feel right to try to pick from both of them... I do enjoy both, while I'm really into Zelda, Call of Duty is fun with friends...

"A sword yields no power if the person who wields it holds no courage."
*yawn* First person shooters...Never seen one that looks different from another except halo. So, naturally Ima pick my favorite series of all time, the legend of zelda, over a game that outside it's own franchise it's identical to the others in the genre. Zelda does it best, zelda does it right within it's own genre. Comparing the two genres, zelda wins, going to compare the two games is like comparing a dumpster burger to a regular burger.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Even for how their stories are often written, LoZ has a much deeper plot than CoD.
My DeviantArt, so sexy
They're so different, its impossible to compare. I enjoy playing COD more, but I love Zelda just as much.
A money-grubbing generic FPS or an action/adventure 3rd person hack, slash, and puzzle game?
Legend of Zelda takes the cake.

I think they're both 3D platform adventure right?
Prove me wrong, Modern Warfare 1-3 has a better story than the recent Zelda games
