Zelda has mediocre to medium gameplay, most of the game have very little variation in things such as combat (in which you have two options, sword stab or arrow shoot) enemys and essentially most of the level design. As a person who enjoys games for suprising me, allowing me to learn and giving me a gripping storyline I can't say that in terms of gameplay it gives me any of those, its long winded and repetetive. I feel that even the gameplay of a text-based RPG or MUD is more gripping due to lazy level design.
I could probably forgive this if the story wasn't just a cliche pile of **** - but it is.
CoD has loads of variation, great level design, a bad-but-better-than-Zelda storyline and supports multiplayer between friends. Zelda isn't as cool because he's a gay elf.
I know that any post will tell me that Zelda has puzzles and different weapons but so on average a minecraft custom map usually has a better storyline and has better gameplay and level design.
Oh I laughed very, very hard at that. CoD's storyline is either ZOMG TERRORISTZ! or ZOMG WORLD WAR! or even ZOMG ZOMBIES! LoZ has some deep lore. "Loads of Variation"? Okay, now you're DEFINITELY trolling. Plus, LoZ has great level design. And "Link's a gay elf" has got to be the most idiotic thing I have ever heard in my entire life.
It just confirms my suspicions-you are what I like to call a CODfag. You are a massive CoD fanboy, you swear a lot, you think that truly good games that you've never even played are trash and the only adjective you can use is "gay". Please take your immaturity elsewhere. Somewhere like, say, CoD's terrible community.
Overall it was hard to pick the arguments out of the constant insults, but I highlighted the relevent bit and simply ignored the second paragraph because it was simply you calling me a faggot.
As I said, COD doesn't have the best storyline but it feels a lot more original than the cliche characters in Zelda and is much better executed and is intertwined in the game. You clearly are finding it to hard to grasp that terrorists and war are part of the war genre, and which COD (being a war game) is about and features a storyline themed around.
I don't really know what you mean by deep, deep can be used to describe the storyline informally as 'emotional' or can be used to describe the lore of Zelda as being quite large; and of course it is large, every single game that features a story will have a massive lore on its fifteenth game but that doesn't mean that the lore is good, I could write a book in little less than a week, I could fill a large book with words by the end of this week but like the lore of Zelda the book wouldn't contain anything of any merit, it would just be very 'deep'.
No Legend of Zelda doesn't have good level design, its cheap and lazy level design where they make large empty green plains and populate them with monsters to kill. There are small puzzle rooms and dungeons, the dungeons are poor in comparison with dungeons from other games (E.G Diablo), if you were to compare both COD and Zelda though in terms of level design being fit for purpose then it is very clear that COD has better level design and is far more detailed.
Are you saying that I'm a faggot and and a COD fanboy because I prefer one game over another and have logical reasons as to why one game is better than the other.
Below I have three images of link:
Notice what he is wearing:
Tights
Tunic/dress up to the thigh
Hat
His haircut
I personally think that its his haircut which makes him look gay, or maybe its his purple shield and sword.
His ears are clearly what make him look like an elf.
Nothing wrong with gay people, just going to throw that out there.
Obviously, however the thread is to discuss which is non-arbitrarily better.
Some people choose to have a religion but if you were to discuss it in a non-arbitary way, atheism would trump religion as COD trumps Zelda. Despite this some people enjoy the feeling of Nostalgia and the 'niche appeal'/'group-feeling' that Zelda gives them.
It is personal preference period.
Now I could if you want me to go into a extreme detail how Zelda is better in various aspects then COD franchise altogether especially the last 3 titles. But it seems you wouldn't like that because you LOVE that game and if I say anything bad about such think its a lie and deny it but that is because YOU like the game again YOU = personal like = preference.
Now back on topic if I had to choose between COD MW3 and Zelda Skyword Sword for the only game I will ever play again I would choose Zelda I hate wii with a passion due to its "new" control style with motion but I would play it because Zelda unlike COD to ME seems a lot better for a overall game.

Any weight your argument may have held was lost when I read this. You clearly haven't played a Zelda game for more than five minutes.

I'll also probably get a lot of hate for this, but I actually agree with some of the stuff this guys saying. Much as Zelda is a good game, having a lot of lore and different characters doesn't necessarily mean better story telling, I prefer games if they don't have a tonne of lore, it makes the story harder to understand. That being said, the reason you think Zelda has a better story is because CoD doesn't use a story. It gives you a premise and lets you figure it out for yourself, which is equally effective if done right and more original than the standard scripted story. As for the arguments against the idea of terrorists/world war, these are things that are tied to the war FPS genre. You may as well say all Skyrim's story is; ZOMG Dragons!! When actually it's a lot more.
Also, the arguments about each Zelda game having different art; Zelda's been around for nearly 30 years, CoD's been around nearly 8. Obviously the Zelda games are going to look different each time. As for the arguments about each game in the Zelda series being totally different because the added new enemies/items/levels, they did the same with Halo 2, but it was still criticised for being to similar to the first.
Don't call me a dumb 10 year old CoD fanboy, I haven't played either game.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...

Care to elaborate? You are implying that Call of Duty is objectively better than Zelda, which is unfounded. You can say that Call of Duty is available on more systems than Zelda, or that Call of Duty has sold more copies than Zelda, but you cannot objecitvely say that something is "better" than another thing. That's completely subjective (or arbitrary, if you prefer).
And on a side-note, atheism does not non-arbitrarily "trump" religion simply because religion makes people feel nostalgic, and I'm an atheist. I'm not sure how you managed to arrive at that conclusion.
Zelda!! That was probably the best adventure RPG series ever. Ahh, reminds me of back when I always played that game... But also, I don't see what makes everyone love CoD so much.
Anyways, Zelda all the way!!

You were expecting one of those endless spoilers weren't you? I hate those things
Zelda is superior to almost all games. However, saying it is the best would be unfair to games like Kingdom Hearts or Star Wars Battlefront. In conclusion, Zelda is much better than Call of Duty.

actually no he isn't he saying which one do you like more doesn't have a list of things comparing them its just asking which one do you like more.
Wonder why such a concept is so hard for people on this forum to understand..
Oops, my bad, heh.
I've never played Zelda *braces for horde of fanboys/girls.*

Easy choice.
Anyways, Zelda all the way!!
Ok, so here is my comparison on the both games
STORY
LoZ: Creative story Line about a demon lord and a hero saving his lover
CoD: Basically a history book you can play
PUZZLE'S
LoZ: Sometimes hard puzzles
CoD: Lol wut
AI
LoZ: "Link! shoot the bandits while I get us to safety!"
CoD: "Wut? U are tring to kill tat dood? here lemme helps u by getting in yr line of sight!"
MATURITY OF PLAYERS
LoZ: "Alright......How am I gonna solve this thing....."
CoD: "WOW NOOB YOU SUCK BECAUSE I SLEPT WITH YOUR MOM LAST NIGHT!"
I think I made my point
Nevermind I think both are okay. This statement was based on ignorance.
