Please guys! Help out me out by giving me motivation to work (commenting on the thread!)
As Turkeybag is banned, I am now in charge here. Lets get things back on track shall we?
I have decided to name this game Timewave Zero for 2 reasons.
1) It is a fitting name for the story and once you know the story you'll see why.
2) It is the name of my favorite song :tongue.gif: The song even kinda makes sense for the story :ohmy.gif:
Note that it's kinda like call of duty, there is CoD: WaW, MW, BO and so on. This will kinda work like that. E.G. Timewave Zero: *insert other name here*. As for what the other name will be for this game... I'm not sure yet :tongue.gif:
Old, outdated stuff on the game from before it's major changes.
This is a zombie survival game I'm working on!
1) Almost all key parts of gameplay are missing (guns, merging 2-all items in your invintory to make epic weapons, the main mobs, healing items, food and hunger bar, etc)
2) The goal of the game is to complete the main story, or live as long as you can, or do what ever you want (it's sandbox and their are non-main missions and bosses all over the place with epic lootz!)... The mobs get far stronger over time, more and more types of them show up and every 30 minutes or so a boss mob will spawn to hunt you down so living isn't easy. It's kinda like dead rising mixed with supernatural (demons are one of the main mobs). At night mobs will overrun you if you aren't prepared (mad barricade set up, doors and windows salted so the demons can't get in, supplies like food and water, etc). At day you gotta do the main missions (if that's what you wanna do) while also getting supplies and barricade items to help you through the night. There is no time limit on starting missions but waiting will make it very hard with the stronger mobs, some of witch will even dodge your attacks like the matrix! It is very hard to survive in this game. Camp and you will starve to death, try get supplies and you may be overrun or caught unprepared (a demon attacks you and you have no iron weapons to fight back! lack of food, you get lost, etc). Anyway that's all I can really think of at the moment but feel free to ask me anything
Major update!
Due to limitations of blender, I have had to make major changes to the game in order for it to work. They are not negative or positive. They pretty much just make it a different game.
Here are the biggest changes. - The game is now in levels of different sizes. Each level will have it's own special mobs and bosses added to the default group. - Waves have been added. Mobs now get stronger each wave rather than over time. Boss mobs also spawn every 10 waves or so instead of every 30 minutes. - At the start of the game you will be given a few minutes to prepare (find some items and set up barricades). You will also get a small brake every 5 waves or so (if you want). - Mobs will award money for killing them. In addition to being able to find items around the level, there will also be a shop. The shop has everything you could ever need. However, the higher grade items are very expensive so you will need to be pretty far in with lots of boss mobs/demon kills to get them. Most of the best items can only be obtained by completing extreme tasks (some will be like quests) in hidden areas (you can buy into hidden areas with money) or by killing level specific bosses (every 40 waves or so). - You regain health very slowly. Health items are still in the game though. Hunger has been removed but food can be used to give you a small amount of health over a short time. Some foods also give you buffs (like +10% speed for 30 seconds). - There will also be a story mode. It will just be like a big chain quest. It will be quite a bit different than survival mode. - In survival mode there will be an option to remove all lighting from the map. Everything will be pitch black but you will start with a torch and lantern (lanterns don't go as far as torches but they effect everywhere around you).
What does this mean?
Well other than what I've already told you, there are some very good things that come out of this. Mainly that I will be able to make the game ALOT faster. To make things better, since the game can now function without everything made, I will be able to release a beta soonish. I only need to do one level for it to be playable with no downside. Before I needed half the map to be done for it to work without a real downside.
Thats all I can really think of at the moment but feel free to ask me any questions.
Videos!
Notes: CamStudio made it look bad! I also recorded it on this pc (not my main one for working on this)...
EDIT: That second door is normally locked and you have to brake it down but that takes like 10 seconds and 10 seconds x 500 tests = A LONG TIME! so I removed the door for testing :tongue.gif:
EDIT 2: The first bit doesn't apply to the first video anymore. I replaced that with a new one. The new one was recorded with a trial so I could only use it for that one pretty much D:
EDIT 3: New video added but it had to use the old lighting system as I couldn't do it on my good pc and didn't want to do it in 1 fps. CamStudios was used because I'm poor >_>
EDIT 4: New video added! Had to use the old lighting again >_>
This video is of the tutorial hallway and the first house. I'm gonna change the whole spawn so the game starts with epic events but that's not one of the first things on my list to do so this is it for now. Watch in 720p! The torch will have a different kind of durability (the system isn't in yet). It will loose durability the longer it's on (you can toggle it on and off)
This video is of a special mode... Here the description (maybe?): "You will see everything! No one will be able to sneak up on you! You will literally have eyes on the back of your head! But at what cost?" This mode allows you to be able to see both behind you and in-fount of you at the same time. You would think there is nothing to loose! But there is... Your sanity! It is very very hard to get used to this mode. I would even call it harder than normal! However if you manage to master it you will have an advantage over everyone else! Note that I just started with this mode so it's got alot more bugs.
This video is just of zombies interacting with barricade items.
You should know these things...
1) That the barricade at the start is horrible. I made it in like 4 seconds because the zombies were almost in! The door was leaning against the table pushing it and that's why I had to be there to stop them from getting in.
2) Barricade's health has been lowered heaps for this video. All barricades show signs of damage but you could only see the ones on the table.
3) Barricade items will have tones of health and will only brake in conditions where your barricade is to good and the zombies are unable to get in by moving or climbing it. In short, it stops you from making the game to easy with an extra good barricade.
4) I was killed by a zombie that just came in the door and was off the screen.
This video shows a few odd weapons and blood!
You should know these things...
1) The old lighting made the blood pool look especially horrible.
2) Barricade health and zombie knock-back/health/damage isn't done yet (I'm using placeholders) so don't pay attention to that.
Check this after the video! (So your surprise isn't ruined!)
3) Yes the tv's a claymore what of it?
4) You may think the tv claymore sucks but when zombie health is done they will be very hard to kill and it does heaps of damage. Also it will brake very fast compared to other barricades. It's just a thing you put down to help your barricades hold really (it wipes out a wave of zombies). It would also work 10x better if I made the barricade properly (a chair behind the tv for example) or if zombie knock-back was done (weak zombies wont knock-back much).
5) Yes the keyboards a shotgun what of it? (it's weak compared to the real deal, you don't know how much shots you have left, and it doesn't have as much ammo)
6) The mouse isn't usually there (CamStudio >_>). Speaking of CamStudio, that's why it's so blurry and stuff!
NEW!
This video shows the first map in the game for survival mode.
Please note:
1) The old lighting was used.
2) Barricade health and zombie knock-back/health/damage isn't done yet (I'm using placeholders) so don't pay attention to that.
3) The mouse isn't usually there (CamStudio >_>). Speaking of CamStudio, that's why it's so blurry and stuff!
4) Some scenery (such as tables) aren't in yet and pretty much all weapons on the map aren't there. Also the shop isn't there. A lot of things are missing.
5) The spawning system isn't done. I spent 5 minutes doing a temporary system for this video. This lead to them spawning oddly and animating very closely to each other at times.
The next video will show level grapples (smashing zombies faces onto the stove/bbq) and it will also show the new 10x smarter zombie AI. They even flop through windows! (very rarely though)
I accept donations with open arms and a happy face!
Wanna help me out? Well a little cash can do amazing things! Firstly, I could get something that could record videos without making them look like crap! I could also work longer and more often as I would have more motivation and more time as I wouldn't need to work as often. If you people are really generous I could even get a better computer and start working on UDK and extremely improve my graphics and gameplay.
You must be thinking, what do I get out of this?
1) Well if you donate at least $6 NZD ($1 NZD is like $0.88 USD) I will let you make a poster for the game. It will be on a wall somewhere (probably in many places). It doesn't need to be a poster. It could be a video cover or something on a tv and so on. On this you can add whatever.
2) If you donate at least $30 NZD I will let you add in an item. This could be a weapon or a potion that gives you epic abilitys or something like that. What it is will decide how rare it is. If its a knife it will be all over the place. If it's a b***hfork (a chick with her arms out like a pitchfork) it will be very hard to get. It will pretty much be an easteregg.
You will also get to play the first half of the levels in the game as soon as their done (other people only get to play the first, witch is tiny as it is mainly for tutorials).
3) If you donate $100 NZD or more (like that's gonna happen) I will let you design a level for the game. You will also get to design the level specific mobs and bosses.
You will also get to play every level in the game as soon as their done and you will get the game for free when it's out if I put a cost on it.
I will decline some stuff if it's extremely inappropriate or due to me needing more skill to make it.
I am now recruiting for many different skill sets!
I may add more to the list later when needed (such as voice actors). Testers (finds bugs, balance issues, say your thoughts on things and suggest ideas) Texture artists (I mainly need animated effects such as lightning, fire, explosions, smoke, blood and so on) Concept artists (You draw things that are simply to detailed to be modeled without a reference (mainly mobs and weapons) and then upload them and send them to me) Modeler (You model and (optional) texture things. If needed, I can probably provide a concept and textures. If you get your own textures, make sure they are royalty free)
Here are the applications. I will post stuff that I need and if you are accepted you can reply and say that your working on it (so no one else tries). Only do one thing at a time. Also, if you make something and think it's good you can send it to me.
Testers will get to start testing as soon as I have done the first level with 10 waves (I think) and they will also get to play it each update until it's done. (The beta I'm releasing for everyone is capped at wave 30. If you are a really great tester and I trust you, I will let you test other levels as well.
Also, age doesn't matter but it's good to know.
Tester
- What is your age?
- Your messing around with a barricade item and you end up with it in a wall and the cursor is not red like it should be. What do you do?
- You struggle to get through wave 24 and after barely surviving, you think your doomed but you get through wave 25 like it's nothing. What do you?
- What is your goal with this and how are you going to achieve it?
Texture artist
- What is your age?
- What type of textures do you plan to make?
- Can you make me a texture of an effect of some sort? (I prefer animation to be all in one image but if needed I will take separate images)
Here's an example of the animation in one image encase you didn't know. I prefer high resolution so I can edit it to my liking. Also it needs a transparent background in most cases.
Concept artist
- What is your age?
- What type of things do you plan to work on? (Weapons, Armor, Mobs, scenery, etc)
- Can you give me an example of your work? Make whatever your best at.
Modeler
- What is your age?
- What type of things do you plan to work on? (Weapons, Armor, Mobs, scenery, etc)
- Can you give me an example of your work? Make whatever your best at.
Rewards
For testers, you obviously get to play the game early. If your a good tester, you will get the benefits of the first donation thing. If your a great, tester you will also get the benefits of the seconds donation thing (even though you will be suggesting things anyway). If you are a legendary tester, you will also get the game for free when it's out (if it costs) and you may also get a very small % of the profits of the game!
For everyone else, you also get to play the game early like testers and you can do anything a tester can do (although you don't have to). You also have a far higher chance of me trusting you to play other levels. If you are decent, you will get the first donation thing. If you are good, you will also get the second donation thing and the game for free when it's out (if it costs). If you are great, you will also get a very small % of the profits. If you are legendary, you will also get the last donation thing and a small % of the profits (more than before!).
Also remember that using a sig is gonna help you heaps (especially if your good enough to make a %)
I think that's everything I need to add. Remind me if I forgot anything.
Feel free to apply anytime.
Testers: diddyk, Morgasm92, razfit.
AC130 Block Attack! is a game I made ages ago that you can download if you want!

Special thanks to KDstudios for allowing me to use his awesome textures!
If your looking for a minecraft texture-pack, be sure to check his out!
Thanks for the support and feedback guys :biggrin.gif:
Yeah it was made with blender and I plan to give this game out for free and run off donations when it's done! That way more people will know about it
I would use UDK but my computer seems to think otherwise so when I get the money off this I can get a better computer and make a sequel to this with epic graphics and lighting!
Yeah I plan to change the brightness/lighting but atm I'm keeping it like this to keep my fps up
I'm gonna keep the zombies like that and for good reason. A realistic looking zombie would take 5x longer to model and hours to texture. Then I would have to texture it like 10-20 different times so that you don't see heaps of the same zombie at once. And since their are heaps of different types of zombies (more and more the longer you live), and they all have distinct looks... I would have to spend hours upon hours upon hours texturing them to give them a look distinct to that type of zombie. I would rather spend my time adding new content than changing how the zombies look.
I just had the great idea of setting up donations now after seeing another guy do it in another thread... Don't think it's against the rules because he was fine. Tell me if it is and I'll change it asap. Anyway read the end of the first post and it will tell you.. Tell you everything!
EDIT: Why are the rules so hard to find?
Wait found them! How could I miss that?

hmm... I donno if this counts :S
looks pretty cool although the 360 view made me think i was on a acid trip or something.... :mellow.gif:
Yeah like I said the 360 view mode gives you a pretty good advantage but it is intense and hard to use let alone master! I put it in because I was trying all sorts of things to make the game ridiculously hard. I even played with the camera upside down and since it's about halfway it looks normal... But you fall up! No one has yet to make that jump with that mode :tongue.gif:
I figured I'd leave this in because it's pro. I enjoy a challenge :biggrin.gif: Other people do to!
Although I will be amazed if people can actually do better with it.
Looks pretty awesome Turkeybag! I love the animation of the glass breaking! Can't wait for more about it :biggrin.gif:!
Theres lots more pro animations! I already have the windows done and they are even better :biggrin.gif:
In fact, I pretty much have the whole house finished. Might be an update soon. Although I wanna do some more work on the mobs before then so who knows
Yeah,if this stays sexy i'll donate some moneys to you for sure.
:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
It will believe me. What I have planed puts this to same!
Just a question. Would you guys prefer this with or without blood? Already know what I'm doing but what do you guys think?
I think blood should be toggleable have toggleable splatter as you beat the hell out of a zombie and also toggleable for if that blood persists on the floor (and maybe for how long for if possible).
This is a very good idea and I was thinking about using it but then I remembered the main boss and some other stuff and was like ffffuuuu. Maybe I'll think away around it :tongue.gif:
This looks Fantastic! With all the new stuff coming i cant wait to play it! I might even donate! Think of the weapons!! This sounds awesome!! I don't know if its just me, but i would totally pay for this!
Why thank you kind sir! It's gonna have to be free to get the word around and because I could do far better (with a better computer). I might charge for the expansions that I'm gonna add if I don't get much donations. The point of this is to get money for a better computer to make better games so need mah $$$
Also yeah, you could make some amazing weapons. I've though of a few myself that I'm gonna put in for lolz and some are pretty extreme!
With a neat lighting engine and some shader trickery, that could look fairly nice.
Good job, I like the idea.
The shading will be better but not epic like it would be if I had a better computer. That's why I'm trying to get money. So I can get a computer that can use UDK. Once I get that I'll start working on a game series that I haven't named yet.... I've been working on the storyline for it for about 2-3 years now so that's gonna be epic. My skills are getting better too so by then the gameplay should be epic as well! Well I already have the skills for that but you know... epicer!
For some reason some stuff (including this) went off my list of threads I'd posted on o_0
This happen to anyone else?
Other than that, it looks pretty epic. The donation prices are very reasonable, too.

Lol who's Domo?
Also, yeah the donation prices are pretty good considering the amount of work I have to do for it. I have to do a lot a work! It's more like offering a service :tongue.gif:

He's popular in Japan, I think he's the mascot of a TV channel.
Oh, and threads have been disappearing off my Content for a while now, it's not just you.
Ohh I see... Don't see what I did to him though but ok. Does he look like my zombies or something? (your picture didn't work) :S Yeah that thread thing is annoying but there's nothing we can do >_>
I should have an update for this soonish (with in a few weeks maybe)

You can also support me and the 1337 zombies by putting this in your signature!
I am now recruiting for many different skill sets!
Testers (finds bugs, balance issues, say your thoughts on things and suggest ideas)
Texture artists (I mainly need animated effects such as lightning, fire, explosions, smoke, blood and so on)
Concept artists (You draw things that are simply to detailed to be modeled without a reference (mainly mobs and weapons) and then upload them and send them to me)
Modeler (You model and (optional) texture things.
Here's an example of the animation in one image encase you didn't know. I prefer high resolution so I can edit it to my liking. Also it needs a transparent background in most cases.
Rewards
For everyone else, you also get to play the game early like testers and you can do anything a tester can do (although you don't have to). You also have a far higher chance of me trusting you to play other levels. If you are decent, you will get the first donation thing. If you are good, you will also get the second donation thing and the game for free when it's out (if it costs). If you are great, you will also get a very small % of the profits. If you are legendary, you will also get the last donation thing and a small % of the profits (more than before!).
Also remember that using a sig is gonna help you heaps (especially if your good enough to make a %)
Feel free to apply anytime.
AC130 Block Attack! is a game I made ages ago that you can download if you want!

Special thanks to KDstudios for allowing me to use his awesome textures!
If your looking for a minecraft texture-pack, be sure to check his out!

Btw, if you decide to make the zombies look different, PLEASE add a mode in the options for ' Gumbi Zombies ' because i think they look awezom!
But it's a really good start :smile.gif:
Looks like it was made with Blender Game Engine, maybe he used some Python for coding.
Something the mainstream game devs would never do.
EDIT: Why are the rules so hard to find?
Wait found them! How could I miss that?

hmm... I donno if this counts :S
World of Nagura: 24/7PVPFREEBUILD
Theres lots more pro animations! I already have the windows done and they are even better :biggrin.gif:
In fact, I pretty much have the whole house finished. Might be an update soon. Although I wanna do some more work on the mobs before then so who knows
:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
It will believe me. What I have planed puts this to same!
Just a question. Would you guys prefer this with or without blood? Already know what I'm doing but what do you guys think?
This is a very good idea and I was thinking about using it but then I remembered the main boss and some other stuff and was like ffffuuuu. Maybe I'll think away around it :tongue.gif:
Why thank you kind sir! It's gonna have to be free to get the word around and because I could do far better (with a better computer). I might charge for the expansions that I'm gonna add if I don't get much donations. The point of this is to get money for a better computer to make better games so need mah $$$
Also yeah, you could make some amazing weapons. I've though of a few myself that I'm gonna put in for lolz and some are pretty extreme!
“If, by some strange coincidence, a hundred sharp pencils I was carrying embedded themselves in a third-party, would that be an accidental death?” - Nisemonogatari
EDIT: There, it should work now.

Ohh I see... Don't see what I did to him though but ok. Does he look like my zombies or something? (your picture didn't work) :S Yeah that thread thing is annoying but there's nothing we can do >_>
I should have an update for this soonish (with in a few weeks maybe)
EDIT: The picture works now!
