I played both and I would say that I like Blockland better. I got bored of Roblox in like 2 days.

Diamond Gold Some more Diamond Some Lava Some Redstone A lot of coal a Mustang water coal More Gold Monster Dungeon Iron another diamond lava and I dies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Frankly I don't consider Roblox a game. It's more proportioned to some LEGO modeling program. I rather not spend time playing sad Dm's, clipping through walls and floors, and spending thirty minutes trying to sit down in a player made vehicle. Also the player object collision is putrid.
Like I said it's a physics engine program with bricks.
Blockland has a more realistic point of view when it comes to building/fighting/walking/adventuring as if you're seeing from the point of view of an actually toy figure. You don't need to switch to ingame programs just to spawn things.
I played both so my opinion counts.
These are facts.
I'll even provide screenshots to sway you!
Blockland player model VS. Roblox Default player model (Non-default is weird...) (Does not use default decals and such)
Roblox players have a wider range of hats to choose from, but you have to pay millions (Exaggeration) of tickets to get a visor.
Default Blockland Cottage VS. Default Roblox House (please excuse the small size of the Blockland photo)
Blockland start-up screen VS. Roblox place picker thing (The background picture in Blockland transitions through your screenshots)
Blockland Jeep VS. Roblox Car
You can build vehicles in Roblox, but the controls are terrible and they generally don't look as good. Also, Blockland vehicles can be re-colored.
A hotel I am building. (Excuse small size again, please. White lines are the outlines of invisible bricks. They can't be seen without a wrench, hammer, wand, Destructo-Wand, or building brick thing.)
Blockland includes a system that allows you to program events in-game with an interface that allows you to choose what happens on an input, and you can change, check, and save variables with an add-on. Actual coding is easy in Blockland, you just have to learn it like any other language.
I think these two videos show a good example of gameplay in each. The Blockland video is completely possible without any editing, although some sounds were changed or added. The bricks in Blockland do not affect you when affected by physics.
Some of the lag in the Roblox video can be attributed to poor video capturing, but a majority of it is probably actually in the game.
Payment
BL has a limited demo and a one time £16/$20 payment.
ROBLOX is free to play, but for everything liketime you fork out over $400.
BL wins this.
Community
Often a deciding factor here.
BL. Three areas: Kids, nice guys, and the arrogant pricks who constantly fight and will "Drama" you if they don't like you.. sometimes you get hybrids. Be a spot careful and it's nice.
ROBLOX. Nice guys, brats and little kids. Complain and you'll get told to make your own game. Charming.
Winner: Depends.
Building
In roblox, It's like a map editor. You can use models made by the community but you get the **** slapped out of you for doing it.
in BL, It's a minifig building with lego. You have jets. It's fairly simple.
Winner:None, Prefrence
Combat
In roblox, a fair few times, the guy with the biggest wallet wins. Why? Because gear and Internet connection(The game is hard with a slow connection).
In BL, Internet connection has little influence and it's all up to the server host of what you use. They're proper scripted weapons.
Winner:BL
Customizing
In roblox, If you ain't got the doh rey mi, You will have a hard time customizing.
In BL, It's a spot limited but nothing's really holding you back.
Winner: BL with close winner
Interactivity
IN roblox, you will need some quite intensive scripting that's hard to learn. And guess what? The heavily scripted places get front page easily.
In BL, there is an "Events" system, which is like machine functions. It's a dumbed down version of scripting and you can start making nice **** in about a month or so. DM's dont really need complex events much.
Winner:BL
What you learn
BL opened me up to EVERYWHERE in gaming. Plus making DMs there is like making a TF2 map but not in TF2. AND I can make a DM out of things that aren't team based shooters.
Roblox? You're supposed to learn scripting and programming but all I see is greed. There was this hat, released for europe and only about 1000 were sold. One guy bought loads of them and deleted them, raising their price so he could fill his pixel wallet. disgusting.
Overall winner
Blockland. It's terribly undderheard of. Under 30,000 players. owie. Go help!
A couple new topics.
Fame
On ROBLOX, you just need to have an epic place on the front page with some good scripts. Or, just be a good scripter. Or, you can be an exploiter. I got some fame by being an exploiter. I also got some fame by making scripts. Easy.
On Blockland, you have to work hard to get fame. I don't really know how this hit me, but my freebuild got famous. Over 20 players in it. Lots of add-ons. However, it doesn't come like that for most people. The really famous people are the ones with the low IDs and are amazing scripters. They make EPIC scripts. Harder than ROBLOX, less famous people.
Winner: Depends on what you would like more.
Scripting
On ROBLOX, scripting is very open. It is easy, however, which means nobody cares when someone learns how to script on ROBLOX. You can do a lot of crap, though. Not much fun in scripting here, unless you're making some epic script you want all of ROBLOX to see.
On Blockland, scripting is a bit harder. There are more features to deal with the player. There are features that deal with messages and commands. Also, everybody knows about the event system, right? Well, you can script to add more events. (Fun Fact: A guy named SpaceGuy made the event system as a server script, then Badspot [creator of Blockland] improved it a bit and added it into Blockland!) Everybody loves events, because as you read in a previous topic, events give lots of customization. You can also make weapons, tools, even new block types. In all, Blockland scripting is a bit more advanced, but a lot more fun.
Winner: Depends.
blockland is crap, roblox is all free(can MultiPlayer play!)
1. The grammar of this post just makes it easier for me to go to blockland.
Blockland is much better, anyways.. you know something? Roblox isnt ALL FREE--builder's club, robux, and tix... oh and you can play multiplayer on blockland too, its better.
I find it funny that all of the comparison posts don't even TRY to tell us the positive points of Roblox. That's called being a ****.
1. Transportation -
Roblox - You can make any type of vehicle, really. Half a year ago, Roblox made it easier to make vehicles by adding "Vehicle Seats." Just put this on a brick, add some wheels, and you can drive it! Along with that, plus some scripting and some knowledge of aesthetics, anyone can make a pretty realistic looking car, and depending on the detail, you can color it any way you'd like! Only problems are the wheel's physics, and the occasional flipsy.
Blockland - It's pretty simple to acquire vehicles! Place down a spawn brick, edit it to your liking, and voila, there's the vehicle you desired! Make it any color you'd like, and drive away! These are probably easier to control then the Roblox vehicles, but they do tend to flip.
2. Building Mechanics -
Roblox - Just like any game, you have to learn and get used to the tools. It doesn't really take a short amount of time, but only because there are so many options available. It ranges from resizing bricks, moving bricks, recoloring bricks, making them concrete, grass, ice, giving them a mesh, editing that mesh, giving bricks sparkles, setting them on fire, and even setting their collision, friction, and elasticity! (Bouncy ghost ice, ftw!)
Blockland -
I actually haven't played ALOT of BL, but I learned this - Too build something takes a while at first, because it takes a few minutes to get used to the controls, but after that, you can build anything! Select a right-sized brick, select a starting point, and begin building! After you finished, or maybe, even before building, you can spray the bricks to get a desired color! There are also many aesthetic bricks too choose from! Like small trees, fences, windows, bars, basically anything to build the perfect home! :biggrin.gif: I managed to build a happy home once... On a mountain.. in the dark.
3. Scripting Mechanics -
Roblox - When it comes to scripting, Roblox likes Lua. In scripting terms, this "language" isn't as common as Java or C++, but it's much easier to learn. As the Roblox Wiki states, "It's like physically telling someone to do something, but completely different grammar."
I actually managed to learn some bits and pieces of the language just for Roblox!
For instance, I actually had managed to recreate an Aerial Faith plate from Portal! And I also built it in a fashion where it can be easily placed! :biggrin.gif:
Here's the code, because I don't really use it much anymore:
local v = 200
local x = 500
local y = 500
function onTouched(part) -- when the brick gets touched
if part.Parent ~= nil then -- if it's human
local h = part.Parent:findFirstChild("Humanoid")
if h~=nil then
h.Parent.Torso.Velocity=Vector3.new(-500,170,0) -- shoot your humanoid in the air at v speed
wait(0.5) -- wait this long
end
end
end
script.Parent.Touched:connect(onTouched)
If you read it, you'll know that it launches the character in a certain direction. Here I didn't use the given values of X, Y, and Z on the axis, for.. well, I don't know. Besides, if you REALLY looked at it, you could probably tell it would launch the character even if it didn't tell you what each line did. (Example, "Velocity," "Touched")
Of course, this isn't the entire AFP script. I also have seperate ones to give the model animation.
Blockland - From what I've experienced, I'm not exactly sure if there's a whole scripting language used/available for use in the game, but I've seen pre-made things like spawn plates! These cool doo-hickeys can spawn vehicles like jeeps, snowboards, or even tools like a Rocket Launcher! This easily accesible device can even create parti- well, not THAT exact brick, but you can change settings to make bricks emit particles like bubbles, sparkles, and even light! As far as I know, Roblox has yet to add in dynamic lights, but they do have shadows! :3
4. Payment -
Roblox - I'll honestly have to say I dislike everything regarding Roblox payment. $200 dollars for lifetime Builder's Club. C'mon.. And only 2000 Robux for $20. Do you know how much hats that would get you? Not much, really. And if you don't pay, you'll get only one place, and only tickets for the people for visit your places. What are tickets worth? Not much.
Blockland - From what I've seen, it was one flat rate, and I think it was a bit less than 2000 Robux worth. Yep, I think less than $20. [Googles] Oh, yep, exactly $20. Which one, 2000 Robux for $20, or an entire game for $20?
5. Community -
I'm a bit at a stand-still here, because I can't really judge Blockland's comunity.
But here's Roblox - The game was specifically geared towards children under the age of 14. Of course, ANYONE can play it, but where's it's geared is where it'll go. So what you'll find on Roblox is a lot of young children who are truly influenced by Roblox and the other players. So because of this, the word "Noob" will be rampant, and in all honesty, because of the pricing of items, the children MAY become a bit spoiled or gain an "I'm Rich and You're Not" attitude.
Blockland - From what I can remember, a few high-horse people, and a fair amount of annoying kids.
6. Fighting -
Roblox - Sometimes, ROBLOX will release weapons in their store, and whoever has the most money will probably get it. And if a place allows the use of these weapons, the holder can unleash havoc among everyone else. Though with every weapon, there's usually SOME sort of drawback like a long reloading time or limtied range. And it doesn't matter what weapon you use, if the player dies, he/she will die in a flurry of body parts, non-gory, though.
Blockland - From what I've seen, you can make your own weapon, just like in Roblox, but I think it takes some knowledge to do so. But most of the time, if you do have that particular weapon, it can't be used in other server's, unless specifically allowed.
Both have limited health values, so no matter what, you'll eventually die.
You know, this is my personal comparison on the ROBLOX community to the Blockland community.
ROBLOX is pure crap. They ban the words "Blockland" and "Minecraft" because of 'competition'. Also, there are a MILLION immature kids that play this game. I'm probably under-exaggerating that, seeing as ROBLOX is more popular than Minecraft. I played on there when I was a little kid, and I was like all the other immature kids. Remembering back to those days makes me feel like I was a crappy kid.
Blockland has a lot more mature people. That's all I have to say. The downside of the Blockland community is this. The drama.
Well my friend, asking about Roblox and Blockland on a Minecraft forum isn't the brightest idea, but sure. Having played Roblox for 6 years, Blockland for 5, and Minecraft for 4, I must say. Blockland is a real game. The scripting engine is so easy to learn, it's easily one of the most moddable games out there, and overall has a great community. Ever since Blockland was released on steam last year, the community has fallen apart a small bit. It's harder to catch up with your friends and download useful add ons without RTB around anymore. It takes a while to get into, but once you're into it, you're good to go.
I just bought Blockland from a Flash Sale yesterday for $2. Haven't played much of it yet, but I have had a very hard time building. Whenever I try placing a block, it just says "Limit" and I don't know what that means and its really frustrating. Also, fullscreen is broken on Mac so I have to play it in 900p in a window. But for $2, once I learn more about the game, it will be well worth what I paid.
For Roblox, I can honestly say that I have never played it. I don't hear much positive stuff usually, but I would probably have to play it myself to judge it.
Roblox and Blockland aren't even remotely similar to Minecraft, take your ignorant fanboyism elsewhere please.
I can honestly say that I've never played Blockland before, however I have played Roblox, and I can say that it's a great game. Lua is a great language, I don't understand why people are saying you can script less in Roblox than you can in Blockland, those people are just ignorant fanboys.
Nowadays there are extremely high-quality builds in Roblox, and it has great graphics. Modern scripts are amazing to be honest, and they impress me every time I go into a new game.
To be honest I haven't seen an immature brat in Roblox in quite a while, they're usually in the form of script-kiddies using cheat engines, but they aren't common to be honest.
Roblox is a great game. I used to play it and it was cool to see the different styles of games one could come up with. You can pick all sorts of games to play that other people have made, I remember some sort of waterfall survival game was pretty fun when I played it.

Honestly, Roblox is way better, because it is an opened world system, where basically anything is possible. And with recent developments, if you learn how to build and script WELL, you could make over 144k a year of REAL $$$. So saying that its full of immature brats while there are college students working hard in between classes is a real insult. If you feel that Roblox isn't that reasonable, join up again and see how much it has changed from 2008.
Blockland is a good game even you can't dress up in not many clothes. But it's still fun. Roblox sucks anyways pal. Thanks for giving me a idea for it, Riot!
These are facts.
