is an expansive game, measuring around thousands of players, 200,000,000,000 *or billion* star systems, trillions of planets, infinite possibilities, and so far, no load screens.
When released, you will be able to explore near endless amounts of expertly made procedural 1:1 scale planets, set up colonies, conquer other colonies, trade goods, become a mercenary, become a miner, or just fly around in a very pretty Milky Way universe.
I'm not gonna explain much about the plot, other than there's some weird disease, and you have to find Earth for some reason, and that there are three factions, Deltan, Star Fold, and Centauran.
Here are some sexy videos.

So yah, just think EVE Online, but on steroids.
The site isn't updated much, the forums are posted on a bit, but the game is being developed.
Oh yah, and by the way, the whole code for the procedural generation of the huge number of planets, and planet types, were all done by a single person.
Just thought the people of Minecraft would like a game of similar scope.
Sorry if this has already been posted, I searched for it and couldn't find it, so I posted this.
looks really cool, i wana play this... watching the third video made me sad with a feeling of loneliness like minecraft lol where your all alone
edit: imagine a game like this where like if you wana travel to a distance planet you put it on autopilot then go to sleep and wake up the next morning to see how close youve gotten but your only half way there lol
Yea ive seen some videos for this. If they can add like Colonization or some stuff i will buy they game and play it for years ( i know its not even in ALPHA yet). That game has to potential to be so awesome and i'm stoked for it, but it also has the potential to be buggy and utterly destroy any chance it has for greatness.
Making something that huge means it's prone for great destruction.
Murphy's law states that anything that can go wrong, will DEFINITELY go wrong.
And Murphy was a optimistic person.
Look at spore and where it got... It had great expectation... And hype. Then it crashed and burned, then did a barrel roll and burned again... Then goes off in a great explosion.
If you want something to work out great, work it out small but plan big... Meaning you MUST have a core fundamental, or base for the game to work on, and it has to be HUGE for that kind of expansive game...

"The bigger they are--" Yup you guessed it...
Spore was made by Maxis.
Maxis...
That's why.
This is coded by one guy, and the models/sounds/textures are made by the community.
And so what if there are ingame adds, the 200,000,000,000 system thing has already been basically made. Anything other than that is just extra.
Don't cry about anything that's cool.

Okay, then don't cry when the game breaks apart?
Deal?
All I've read is that it will feature this and that, and it only has the space traveling, rendering, and planetary setups are done, along with the combat version.
No where have I read that it has developed colonization, trading, player economy, special customization, life and death system, gravitational pull, terraforming etc. etc. etc. etc.
At most, I'd say it's a tiny 15~20% done. But it's progress could be much slower.
The alpha testing and such is following how minecraft is. Basic and core stuff first, then advanced and complex stuff later.
So basically "when it's released" is when the developer sees it content and sufficient.
Now minecraft and this game have differences. The problem I see with this game is "what content is prioritized, and what content will be released later".
Are you just gonna get space travel, colonization (creation of settlements), and combat done so players can fly around, destroy and create colonies, then wait for the next content?
This "25/+5" over time thing doesn't work that well if it wants to get a lot of people to play it, because there's always the possibility that it may not even last longer than Minecraft.
Heck, you have completed video games that is released in public, yet people played it a bit, reviewed, then abandoned it and now almost no one knows what it's called or what it is.
When I say it can break, is when during the development progress, something can happen and delay it further, which is only the beginning of something that may be bad. Devs deal with real life too you know, so the possibility of it shutting down is still there so long as you're dealing with real life.
The guy who is making this must be unrealistically generous, or a lunatic...
6 years and not even in alpha?!
Someone BIG better see this guys' genius...
If he worked on this for 6 years, that means he must have several revisions because of the new technology he'd want to change in the codes or system...
Which means that it won't be completely done until you give him another 6 years maybe... But by then you might "have" something good... Problem is the time though... It's not like the community will give him 6 years right?
I saw this game a few years back... still in development. Oh hey, it's still in development today... It looks awesome but it needs to come out sooner than later.

How much will it cost?
FREE.
That's right. FREE.

No... It won't be free.
It'll cost something, then a monthly fee as most other MMO's.
But still, 200,000,000,000 systems makes it worth it.
To bad my computer would have a hernia if I ever attempted to even download this game.
my first thought when i saw this was "EVE just became obsolete"
THIS. IS. AWESOME!!!
I can't BELIEVE this! I don't care if it costs 50$, 100$, or even 1000$. This is WORTH IT.
