UnReal World (URW) is a fun little survival game by two Finnish guys, Sami Maaren and Erkka Lehmus.
It's a roguelike with basic graphics, but it's the gameplay that is the fun part.
Your goal is simple: Survive. Most of the time, it's quite the difficult goal (at least for me). Food and water are a must, obviously. But food can be difficult to acquire, and then you have to find a way of preserving what you don't eat immediately. Often times you can take down a reindeer and have enough meat to last the better part of a month, but it spoils.
Also present are a band of marauders known as the Njerpez are also present. They are men in red clothing, armed with iron weaponry. Stumbling into one of their camps ill-prepared is nearly certain death.

URW Shares a lot of similarities with DF's adventure mode, although in all technicality it came first (development began in the early '90s). Like dwarf fortress, you can be killed by the most ridiculous of things (I was once killed by a beaver that tore out my jugular).
The game's pretty fun. Surviving winter is one of the great challenges, as you can easily freeze to death without a proper cabin and warm clothing. Stockpiling food and firewood (And if gets especially cold, water) is something that you start in spring, because winter seems to last for-****ing-ever.
I also mentioned the Njerpez. They're the marauder-types, the assholes who **** everything up. They're also human, meaning they can wield any number of weapons. Njerpez archers are a pain in the ass, or in most cases the base of the skull. But clearing a Njerpez camp means you're pretty much set for the year. The extra weapons from the dead can make great trading items, and most camps have some sort of "treasure" in them. Also, if push comes to shove, you can cannibalize the dead.
Only bad thing: It's pay to play, and with each new major revision you have to buy a new license (unless you bought a version or lifetime license). Bugfix patches, however, are free, and you can play 10 days on the free version.
I saw this a long time ago, and it looked like it would be really fun, but the price deterred me. I don't think it's expensive or unreasonable, but just the fact that it has to be bought is an annoyance.
I just started a new character focused around combat skills on the scenario, "Runaway Slave", in which you start in a Njerpez camp.
I actually managed to kill all of them with nothing but a knife and they're dropped weapons (After I had incapacitated all of them, I went around with a battle axe lopping off the injured warriors' heads).
I got some wounds, but nothing too serious. Mostly puncture wounds from the archers. I also cut a few of the corpses up for meat and started smoking the cuts.

The Armor screen music is ****ing kickass.
Also, some screenshots of some menus.
Armor screen. Currently, I'm wearing mostly fur clothing with an Iron Cuirass I found at an abandoned camp.
The skills screen, showing every skill in the game.
The Ancestors Screen, showing all of my previous characters. "Didn't want to live" means I quit without saving.
An ingame screenshot of me at my current camp. Outside, I've got some meat and fish drying. I need to set up a fire, as I'm quite cold.
