So the man, the (not) myth, the legend, is back at his ways of tinkering like the old days. This time he's made something... Curious. Apparently it can run in a browser at 99FPS with a 32 kilometer render distance.
I've seen this, and it's definitely intriguing. I just hope he fixes that rendering glitch and does some anti-aliasing...
It's not Minecraft 2, but it could be interesting. Let's just hope he doesn't try to bring an element from Minecraft that might make Microsoft angry. We don't want a "Original Creator v. New Owner" rivalry or legal battle. That couldn't end well.

Microsoft isn't like Nintendon't or Disney as far as being lawsuit-happy and abusing copyright. Besides, there are already loads of MC clones both good and bad out there.
Frankly I do not expect this to be a Minecraft 2, or anything resembling that. For now he's probably just tinkering with the idea of high-performance browser games. I'm curious on where this will go, but its completely possible that this is just it.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is it. Markus is kind of notorious for making half-finished projects then dropping them to work on something else.
He only continued working on Minecraft because it got really popular.

I actually expect this project to be dropped because it got attention. Not going to lie, I was looking forward to the old sci-fi would-be game, 0x10c, back when it was going to possibly be a thing.

Thought y'all might be interested by this.
Figured it was time for a change.

Check out my suggestions! Here is one of them:
