You know those periods of time where you don't really feel like playing anything, and just looking for something to scratch that itch you have in the back of your neck? No? It's just me being weird? Ok.
If you do know, or just want to help me out, I'm in that state right now, and I really feel like playing a good mmorpg. The only one I really enjoyed was TERA, but lately no one is playing which makes it lonely (and pointless if you have a party quest to do like me). I tried looking online, but none looked very promising, and I can't just throw hours into playing games just to check if they're good.
So, I turned here, where the chances of meeting a person with the same taste as me is slightly higher (since we both like minecraft (if you're reading this and don't like minecraft, I'm sorry)).
Basically, just tell me if you know of a good mmorpg with an active player base, preferably free.

As human beings, we can teach, invent and discover, but if we can't do any of that we can at the very least be honest.
DC Universe Online was enjoyable for the few weeks I played it. It's a superhero action MMORPG set in the world of the DC comics, free players get access to Gotham and Metropolis. I was particularly fond of flying around ganking heroes (I played on villain side on the PvP server). No idea if anyone's still playing though since it's been a few years since I touched it.
Planetside 2 is a fun MMOFPS, if you're up for some large scale sci-fi shooter action.
One last MMO I'll mention is EVE Online, a spaceship MMORPG that will be getting a free option in November. It's a MMO I quite enjoy, but I'll be the first to admit that it's a "love it or hate it" kinda' game.
Homecooked Lineage II servers are quite fun if you got friends to drag along with you. These kind of communities are heavily dependent on their player base, so they tend to cater to all of their complains.

Not free but a really good MMORPG. Black Desert Online.
You've also got WoW, Runescape, Rift. There's plenty.
SWTOR is pretty neat, Star Wars and F2P.
