So I have been playing Slender lately and I am terrible at it. I have been looking online for strategies and tips, but I have never seen more self contradiction in a gaming community.
1. Some say that keeping the flashlight off will hide you from Slender, and others say it doesn't help at all. I even heard from one person that you can use the flashlight to trick Slender into going in the wrong direction. That seems unlikely.
2. Some say do sprint whenever you can, others say you should avoid sprinting at all costs.
3. Some say start with the bathroom outward, others say start at the silo and continue counter-clockwise.
4. Some people say that there are conditions for a not being in a specific place. If a note is in the bathroom, there won't be one in the tankers. If there is one in the tunnel, there isn't one in the single tanker truck.
Should I trust any of this?
Also, what is the compound? It is such a weird collection of things. A massive bathroom, a silo, this weird pipe, a cross of brick. It's such a nonsensical collection of stuff that the answer that makes the most sense is that the proxies made it for Slender to satisfy his lust for the hunt. But that is a boring solution to the question. Also, when I see the two rows of de-limbed trees, I can't help but think of Herobrine. What are your thoughts?

If you haven't already tried searching these up, I'd recommend to do a series of tests, or troubleshooting. Do some experiments, it can really help out at times! See what happens if you sprint the whole time, or don't sprint at all. See what happens when you use the flashlight in various ways. Work from there, see what works best, and collect all those notes!
3. Some say start with the bathroom outward, others say start at the silo and continue counter-clockwise.
Of course, there are several strategies out there. Try both options, see which one works best. Maybe take a third option, and find a strategy of your own?

I believe that point is correct. From what I've seen, notes can be found in two/three different arrangements, meaning that a note will almost never be found in the same location two play-throughs in a row. If a note is in the bathroom, then I think there won't be one in the tankers. Same goes for the tunnel and the single tanker truck. And vice versa.

What do you mean by the compound? As for the strange placing of notes and having the player search for them, I believe it's just one of Slenderman's ways of relieving his boredom.
