((While it is something interesting, I'm fairly sure that'll deter a lot of newcomers. Especially when they're joining an RP that's practically all friends that they likely don't know. Plus, sometimes it's better to leave character connections more shrouded in mystery. It's cool to find out later on that the person your fighting with has some sort of connection to you, in a meta sense. I feel like mandatory character connections could make that little pleasant surprise in the meta just seem like something that has to happen, as opposed to something that happened out of coincidence. As my friends used to say, "think of the meta, man!" whenever I brought forth some new rule that could potentially break the meta in some way. I'd attribute it to giving my D&D buddies a list of all of the NPCs they're going to meet before they even know who those NPCs are. Sometimes a surprise in the meta is worth much more than clearly setting something up beforehand.))
((Of course D&D is significantly different from forum roleplaying in almost every way, but I feel like a lot of aspects are similar between the two. One thing I don't particularly miss from D&D is the fact that you leave your entire journey up to one person (The DM), who may or may not be trying to screw you over at every step. I do enjoy the player freedom of forum roleplaying far more, allowing them to make their own journey rather than following the set path a DM demands that they do. Plus, there's a lot less rules. By that I mean, forum roleplays have a total of about 15 rules in general, with probably the 10 or so unspoken rules there are. The newest edition of D&D currently has a rulebook of about 500 pages give or take. And as DM, you practically have to memorize them all. If you do want a D&D type game that's the same experience but much simpler, and imo, much more fun for the DM, is Pathfinder. I highly recommend that over D&D if you're just starting out.))

((Yeah. It can be really fun to plan characters out with each other as partners or something beforehand, or reveal that they share some sort of family link, or their backstory tied into another's in a way that isn't immediately apparent, but it kind of ruins the magic to force it on people.))

((Doing a study abroad thing with my girlfriend. Well, really she's the one who's doing it with me. She was given the opportunity to study abroad to about 10 different countries, which she would choose one out of, and she would spend the next four to seven months there bringing along someone of her choice. So she decided to take me, and I'm not going to pass up any chance to experience what it's like being in a foreign country, even though she's doing all of the actual learning and I'm supposed to be there as an "assistant to make sure she gets things done." I won't use that as an excuse to be lazy though, I'll try to learn right alongside her even if it seems a bit too complicated for me. They strictly said no personal belongings other than clothes and some food though, so that she can be "more ingrained into a new culture," as she explained to me.
Plus, this is different in that I'm willingly doing it. And, to be honest, I actually got a lot more meditation done when I didn't have the constant distraction of electronics around me during the summer.))
((I was worried you'd miss me. I've been to therapists ever since I was twelve that constantly told me to learn how to forget people, and so I did. Now it sadly comes easy to me, and I tend to forget people even when I don't want to. But, I'm hoping I don't forget any of you. After all, during that summer all I did was think about RPing with you guys some more. I'll just do more of that to force myself to remember.))

((I feel awful. Then I just feel stupid for feeling awful about this, and then I feel even more awful. Now that I'm done with musical, I have the time to realize how dead everything feels here without him gushing about something or other. I don't feel like I can go through with a "next RP" without him here with us. I don't feel like going through with anything else for that matter, but yeah. Whatever.))
((Life is motion, and things change to remind us of this. I'd be more than happy to wait for Ragna if it means we get to work on things with him :). Same deal with Tek; he seems to be at a busy point in his life still. I've hopefully got some changes coming soon too if my plans for post secondary fall through, but the hours will be similar to normal school so it shouldn't be too crazy.
Things have fallen into silence, but I like to think of it as sleep rather than death. All in all we've wrapped things up here and I'm satisfied with how things turned out. This was the first RP I ever properly finished, and it was fun right to the end

((Hey guys. I do not know if anyone is still around or checks in. I cannot believe it's been as long as it has. I have tried to pop in and say something over the last several years, something, anything, but each time I hit a new roadblock. I think I have moved on from this communitt, but I would love to get back in touch with you guys if not just to hang out and talk over the internet again. Y'all were a blast, and I am always finding myself thinking back to this.
