The year is 2103. Since the previous decade, humanity has been long observing a new, hideous moon named Erin, due to it's notable oceans and archipelago. On year 2079, several astronauts were hired and sent to Erin in a journey that lasted years due to the lack of faster-than-light travel.
Year 2015:
A new moon of Jupiter has been found. It seemingly orbits just between Ganymede and Callisto. Nothing is known much about it, but it has recieved the designation of J-05162156.
Year 2022:
Further advancements and launch of space probes have shown J-05162156's 'far side' topography. It is completely blue in appearance, appears to be made of liquid water. Atmosphere is possibe.
Year 2034:
Even further probe scans revealed more details about J-05162156. It has an atmosphere with oxygen, scarce blue-colored clouds, and the 'near side' has two large islands surrounding a massive lake, alongside a third medium-sized island and a few smaller islands within the lake. Topography suggests that it had a massive impact in the past.
It's in an eccentric orbit, and slightly crosses Callisto's orbit, but the two bodies are in a 2:4 resonance which, coupled with their different inclinations, ensures they cannot collide. The moon has been renamed 'Erin', and is surprisingly not tidally locked to Jupiter.
Year 2051:
A modular base has been sent to Erin, with help of probe cores. They will land near the shore on Erin's southwestern island, where, with help of wheels, will assemble together in the terrain. Alongside the base will accompany rovers. It has also been discovered that Erin has several trees.
Year 2079:
A crew of astronauts have been sent to Erin, in the shape of a large space station which will orbit Erin. Landers will be undocked from the station, and will each land in the base area.
The roleplay will take place in the smallest of Erin's three islands, named Wernher-Sagan Island. The island, alongside the other two islands, has forests and animals.
Erin's gravity is weaker than Earth's, at 7.85m/s(Earth's is 9.81m/s for reference), and so is it's atmosphere, at 81,0600 kPa, whereas Earth's is at 101,325 kPa. Because of this, astronauts will have trouble breathing unless they use an oxygen mask or adapt to the atmosphere(will require your character to have a total of 60 posts).
Erin's days last 21 hours and 33 minutes. 'Polar' lights can sometimes be seen due to Jupiter's magnetic field. The weather is not much different from Earth; it often rains, has windstorms, blizzards, and rarely weak tornados appear. Thunderstorms are extremely rare.
Like Earth, Erin has an axial tilt. It's seasons depend on Jupiter's position relative to the sun.The roleplay takes place in the middle of summer, although it may change later. Temperatures on Summer go as far as 14°C, while the minimum is -2°C. It's up to speculation.
Erin's fauna and flora are somewhat limited when compared to Earth, but that isn't to mean there's only one species of three and two animals.
Greenwood Tree
The tallest tree in Erin, Greenwood trees are almost of an analogue to Redwood trees on Earth. As their name says, their wood has a green coloration.
Nutum
A nut-like fruit that grows on Greenwood Trees. They're brown and spherical, but filled with large spike-like objects. Their core is delicious, provided you can trip them from the crust.
Lok Tree
A fat tree, Lok Trees are the second common tree in Erin. Almost analogous to Oak trees.
Luk
A reddish fruit that looks like an orange, but is consumed like a banana. It has a spherical crust, with the top having 'leaves', but actually being tips of the crust. Unpeeling them will reveal the core, which tastes like banana covered in honey.
Trup Tree
The most common tree in Erin, and just like an 'everytree'. They're neither thin or thick, not tall nor short, just average.
Pul
A rather odd fruit growing on Trup trees. They come in extremely odd shapes, ranging from rock-like to God-knows-what, but they're tasty and watery.
Bonki Tree
The shortest tree on Erin is also found as common as bushes. They have an odd segment.
Kokono
A small berry-like fruit that grows on Bonki trees. They're ridiculously common in Bonki trees, and the easiest fruit to find, but they don't fill much, and eating too many often leads to stomach aches.
Shashana Tree
The rarest tree on Erin is also the largest one. In fact, there is only one for each island. Often nicknamed the 'Life Tree', it has a wide 'torso' and several branches.
'Life Fruit'
A silver-pink fruit found only on Shashana trees, their taste is so great it defies description. It also is capable of curing any and all illnesses.
Io Poison Trap
A carnivorous plant which resembles an abnormally large flower. It lures unsuspecting beings into it with it's pleasant scent, and entraps them within it, sucking the life essence out of it(in humans' case, blood), and poisoning the prey. Humans are too large to be 'swallowed' by it, thus they often only entrap the head or feet.
Ant
Ants surprisingly are also found at Erin and behave just like Earth ants, but have a firmer grip on the surface. They're herbivorous.
Ice Ants
Just like Earth's fire ants, ice ants are ants with a slightly bluish coloration, and attack when they feel threatened. Their attacks make the attacked area feel like freezing. They're herbivorous.
Firefly
Fireflies are often found flying around in the woods, especially at night. They're herbivorous.
Blop
A small light gray furry creature which behaves like a bunny. They're agile and hard to grab or attack. They're herbivorous.
Fenix
A creature which seems to resemble an ocelot, but with wider fur variations. They're often found leaping across the trees and rarely on the ground. They actively avoid interacting with other species, but won't hesitate to dine on dead corpses. They're omnivorous.
Glarghari
A pig-sized creature often found with dark brown or black fur. They're incredibly dumb and don't recognize that they're being attacked or threatened, and thus are easy prey. They're herbivorous.
Speed Devil
An exotic creature, Speed Devils are lone wolves, but as their name says, they're incredibly fast. If they even think they heard the sound of leaves rustling, their ears immediatly rise up and enter 'alert mode', where they stop doing what they were doing and actively scan the area for possible hostiles. Their speed can exceed 50mph. They're omnivorous.
Manticore
A big creature, Manticores are a force to be reckoned with. Their main attack, ramming their heads against their prey, can break several torso bones of an average human, quite possibly killing them on the spot if the impact damages the spine. Their skin is also highly resistant to attacks, and if you even think you found one, the intelligent thing is to get out of the place as soon as possible. They're carnivorous.
Snooze
A reptilian creature. Snoozes are called like so due to their ability to influence their prey to sleep with their gaze. They resemble snakes, but they also have an uncanny resemblance to branches, which often helps them remain unnoticed. They're carnivorous.
Blarrgh
Not much is known about Blarrghs other than the fact that they reside in rivers and are able to kill pratically anybody who even dares cross said river except for Manticores. They're carnivorous.
Erin Base One
The main operations base, and where you start. It has sleeping chambers, a café, and garages with exploration rovers(powered by eletricity, not gasoline), alongside landers which can be used to rendezvous back with Erin station. It is located near a beach.
Erin Station One
A large space station sitting in Low Erin Orbit. It has residence chambers and 'parking lots' for landers. Once the exploration is over, the crew will have to rendezvous with Erin Station One and depart back to Earth.
EB1 Beach
The beach located just north of Erin Base One.
Nothern Forest
The forest located just south of Erin Base One. Several trees and animals reside there.
Curiosity Volcano
Named after the infamous Mars Curiosity Rover, the active volcano resides in the middle of the island. It has not erupted for a while, but for security reasons, personnel are told to avoid going near there.
Western Forest
A region of the forest just west of Curiosity Volcano. It is much hillier and hazardous than the Nothern forest, riddled with canyons.
Eastern Clearance
Though not many went there yet, there is a clearance just east of Curiosity Volcano. The Shashana Tree stands there, though in-character little people know.
Uncharted Forests
Nobody knows what resides south of Curiosity Volcano. You're forbidden from going there for the time being.
Every roleplay needs to have rules for it to grow happy and healthy.
Write 'Callisto is not amused' in the Other section of your app.
No Godmodding. This means your character is not able to have superpowers or anything unnatural.
No Meta-gaming. This means your character cannot be aware of things he is not supposed to know, such as the fact that the Shashana Tree is at the Eastern Clearance.
No Power-playing. This means you cannot control others' characters. This does not apply for animals, as they're NPCs.
Be realistic. If your character gets an illness, or has had his leg forcefully removed by a Blarrgh, he cannot leap from tree to tree to get back to the base.
PLEASE don't abuse the landers.
For the love of God, remove the instructive messages that come with the application form. You won't get rejected for breaking this rule, but PLEASE, cut me some slack.
Ignore the rule that is behind two rules before Rule 4, and write 'Moar boosters!' instead.
Rovers can carry five people. Please abide by this limit.
