Plot: A starting pack of Deinonychus finds their way into a large marshland. The adventures they will start and the dangers they face are completely up to fate.
I won't be making this all fancy since this is just recruitment, however, please read everything below as I am trying to make this as realistic as seemingly possible! Little bits of information are spread throughout so seriously, read everything! Most of the bottom portion is just large pictures, so don't be frightened by the post size!

~Needed Information, disclaimers, and tips~
Deinonychus are not featherless, they have been proven to have feathers covering up to their snouts, hands, and feet. Do NOT give me a featherless deinonychus and ask to join.
Gore and blood WILL be featured, but not drastically. No sexual content will be present or those who post it will be kicked out immediatly, no one wants to read and/or imagine that stuff At least, I hope so E_E.
Dinosaurs weren't the smartest beings, but at least they were logical. They would not take risks that would likely result in their death or severe injury, think things through before posting a reply!
There will be two fight moderators. These people watch over fights and ensure no one is god-modding and trying to act like they own the place. Landed hits, dodging, injury, death, etc. are COMPLETELY up to the fight moderators. These will be trusted people to make sure no favorites are picked so that someone who should've lost ends up wining. Disclaimer: These two people are allowed to have their own characters as I doubt someone just wants to stand-by and watch everyone have all the fun. Should no fight moderators be online, then there will be no fighting. This role falls onto all the alphas and betas as they are expected to be mature and responsible enough to handle such situations.
The roleplay will not continue unless both Alphas are online.
The pack will rarely venture out of their territory and even more rarely when few in numbers unless pushed out. Pack members often stay close together, so no loners wandering around unless they are hatchlings/young-adults as these two ages are often brash and adventerous.
~Pack Machanics~
The deinonychus packs featured in this roleplay follow the basic setup of a wolf pack, but slightly changed. There are two Alphas and two Betas and any number of both deltas and omegas. Rank rules will be talked about later on.
Challengers are not common as challenging an alpha or beta will often result in death due to their ability of reproducing being put on the line. However, the betas are often more merciful and usually let the others walk away with a large amount of injuries.
Hunting is decided by the Alpha pair and the Alpha pair ONLY. No deltas or omegas can walk off and try to hunt something unless it is in the main den, such as a little herbivore unfortunatly running through and not realizing the area belongs to a pack of meat-eaters, RIP.
Predator invasion is rare due to only Acrocanthosaurus and other Deinonychus being around. Acrocanthosaurus seems to be more focused on hunting large herbivores rather than small, thinner Deinonychus. Deinonychus will only invade for territory and pack fights will still be rare as we would need to split the whole RP group up for this. There IS a crocodilian but they stick to the waters and would only try to hunt Deinonychus should they get close enough to their water source.
Challenges can only be issued once per day IRL per individual raptor. Time passes rather quickly in roleplays, allowing those injured to heal up and regain their strength. There is a cool down of a tleast two hours between each challenge.
~Pack Ranks/Rules~
Alphas: A male and a female pair that are the only ones allowed to breed unless able to do so, in which this passes down onto the Betas. They are the best available to lead the pack and ensure everyone's survival. Should the male die, almost every male raptor will try to impress the alpha female and challenge other males trying to get the Alpha spot. It is fully up to the Alpha female who gets to be the new Alpha male. Death will NOT occur due to this for any reason unless approved. Should the female die, the male will try to impress another female worthy of his genes. Females are usually immediatly taken due to the male already being the alpha and having proved himself before.
Betas: The guards of the pack. They keep everyone in line and ensure no breeding, fights, or hunting goes on in the delta and omega ranks. They are only allowed to breed if the alpha pair is unable to do so, or one of the alphas die and the remaining alpha is unable to find a mate before the breeding season.
Deltas: The common pack member. Moderate in numbers, they help provide extra claws and teeth during hunts and territory disputes. They are still individuals however, and they squabble over who gets to eat first, who sleeps where, etc. No major injury comes from these little ruffles. They are NOT allowed to breed for any reason.
Omegas: The punching bags of the pack. They are few in number since these are only new members and those who have angered the Alphas. They are often picked on by the Deltas and sometimes even the Betas. They can still fight back, but injury is a certainty. They are responsible for keeping the den clean and the hatchlings healthy and well fed in order to build reputation within the pack.
Rogues: Loners who have no pack, most often due to looking to start their own. They form groups of up to three, rarely five, in order to start a pack. These are usually bachelor groups looking for lone females or to steal a pack's female away. Larger packs commonly ignore them, but they do not tolerate them being close to their kills when they are eating or near-by. The loss of a female to these bachelor packs are annoying, but none of the pack will chase after them and retrieve the female. Lone females are rare and are likely the result of a singular male and female breeding and leaving their children for a larger pack.
Hatchlings/Young-adults: Hatchlings produced from the Alpha pair are immediatly higher than the rest of the pack, but still lower than their parents. They will often prance around and try to learn the scents and looks of each pack member. Omegas are often chasing after them to ensure no harm comes to them, while the Deltas put up with their antics in fear of angering the alphas. Any aggressive behavior towards them is doubled back by the Alpha pair, and often leaves the aggressive raptor with many cuts and bruises as a lesson.
Young-adult males are brash and often challenge each other or older males to gain fighting experience and to climb the ranks of respect within the pack. They will also practice impressing females, but know better than to actually breed with them. However, should they actually impress a female, the pair can be seen wandering around together and often groom and comfort the other. Females usually keep to themselves are form a group with other females to huddle together and groom/sun-bathe.
Enviroment: Deinonychus are suspected to have lived in more dry marshlands rather than forests or open plains. In this roleplay the pack has found a very nice area to form the main den. The picture below is what I'd imagine the area to look like. They have made their sleeping nests and breeding nests on the left-hand side by the rather leaf-less tree. No predators besides themselves roam these waters or the lands.
Other Dinosaurs: I'm rather too lazy to fully explain each dinosaur, so here- have basic descriptions and pictures x3
Herbivores:
Tenontosaurus: A hadrosaur that seems to be the favored prey of the Deinonychus. While they are big, the pack seems to have the highest success rate with hunting them.
Zephyrosaurus: A smaller herbivore that is a meager snack to a Deinonychus that catches it. They stick around Tenontosaurus as protection and run at the first signs of danger.
HE JUMP (couldn't help myself)
Astrodon:Sauropods that are bigger than Deinonychus, but still small. Due to their thicker skin, they take a bit longer to kill than a Tenontosaurus, but are still worthy of being hunted.
Sauropelta: A seemingly lost cousin of the Ankylosaurus, it is dangerous for the Deinonychus to hunt. The pack often simply scavanges off of corpses killed by Acrocanthosaurus. The pack would only hunt these during desperate times.
Sauroposeidon: The largest herbivore in the area. They graze the treetops and are only wary of Acrocanthosaurs. The Deinonychus don't dare try to hunt these.
Predators:
Acrocanthosaurs: The largest predators in the area, they only pack up to three to take down Sauropelta, Astrodon, and Sauroposeidon. They are tolerant of the Deinonychus, but will protect their kills should they be near-by.
Goniopholis: A crocodillian that prefers the much deeper waters that are further from the pack's main routes. They rarely go after Dienonychus, prefering to take down herbivores. However, should anything foolishly swim near them when they are hungry enough, death is certain.
Application Form: ONE CHARACTER PER PERSON
Name: (NO HUMAN NAMES, be creative! Example: My Deinonychus is named Stalking Shadow because he is a rather good hunter and he is a darker grey with some blue and white x3)
Gender: (Remember, males are more dominant than females, choose wisely)
Age: (Young-adult, mature adult, not accepting hatchlings or elder Deinonychus)
Rank: (NOT FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVE, you need to prove yourself before getting any higher rank! Also, don't be shy to pick omega, we need those in the pack!)
Apperance: (LOOK BELOW. I don't mind at all if you use a random picture on google, just make sure it has realistic colors and isn't a featherless Deinonychus)
Roleplay Sample: (To be accepted, you need to prove you are capable of full literate and realistic roleplaying.
Needed to join: A small sample of your raptor's normal behavior, a sample for impressing a female or being impressed by a male, and a sample of their hunting skills.)
A beautiful example of gender difference! Use this as a guide for Apperance, however brighter colors are welcome!
Free lineart for those who wish to color their own! x3
While they provide the link to the program they used to make it, it is fine if you do not wish to download it! Feel free to put the lineart in MS Paint x3
EXAMPLE (and my own OC's form XD)
Name: Stalking Shadow
Gender: male:
Age: Mature adult
Rank: Alpha Male
Appereance: (Used BasilikZero's Lineart, shown above as the link, RIP my artist abilities)
Roleplay sample:
Normal Behavior: The large male sneezed as a leaf fluttered onto his muzzle, raising him from his slumber. He stretched himself out before taking a quick look around. Nothing seemed to be out of place from before he fell asleep. He got up and jumped onto the large log that adorned the main area of the pack's den. A few of the pack was already out. Some sunbathing, some grooming themselves or eat other, though most were gathering around the water to get their morning drink. The alpha decided to join them at the waters edge. Stepping up behind the others, those who noticed him scooted away to let the stronger male drink, those who didn't got a slight nip if they were too close to him.
Impressing a female: It was the breeding season, almost every dinosaur in the area could tell that much. Loud calls, stomps, and just about every noise could be heard as males tried to impress females. It was now Stalking Shadow's turn to do the same. Within the pack, he spotted a mottled colored female. He had seen her work during hunts, she was almost the best of the whole pack, she was the best choice of being his Alpha female. Stepping up to a little area right in front of the female, he let out the typical bark to initiate a mating ritual, this immediatly caught the female's attention. While strength and ability were important, in order to impress a female a male must show rather excellent dancing skills. His first move was to stomp and crouch down, raising his tail feathers high and shaking them while letting out multiple barks. A few more of those, and his next dance move was to raise up and shake his arm feathers, twirling around and stomping his feet every now and then. The female stood up, he was close. A few jumps and swaying of side to side was all that was left to impress her. The two made way back to the Alpha's den.
Hunting: A lone tenontosaurus grazed in the grasses just a few meager feet in front of Stalking Shadow. The male blended in rather well, the grass was a dark brown as it was rather unhealthy during this time of year, seemingly dying, and night was approaching fast. The tenontosaurus made a wrong move, moving too close to a second hunting group, the alpha let out a sharp bark and the whole group jumped onto the hadrosaur causing the larger creature to call out and flee, letting the whole pack chase it down. Those who were closer either nipped and clawed or jumped on. The alpha himself was pushing the herbivore to a body of thick mud, were it would be stuck and the pack could kill it without it running. The squishing of mud could be heard as the hadrosaur quickly sunk into the trapping mud. It wasn't deep enough to act like tar or quicksand, but it proved helpful enough to get their prey disabled. Bites to the neck proved fatal, and a now warm corpse lay on the muddy ground.
I hope to see you all in the roleplay thread! Good luck~
