Lere
Species: Human
Age: 16
Appearance: A young man of average height and weight, Lere has short, spiky-ish chestnut-brown hair. Lere usually dons a white mantle, a white shirt, and leather boots, obviously trying to stand out.
Abilities: Possibly could be the best magician in the world... if he could memorise anything. Despite his immense skill with magic, his memory is atrocious to the point where he misremembers incantations with varying comical effects. Usually not a problem since he always brings his ultimate all-knowing spell tome into battle, but he also lost that when it was stolen by presumably wildlife when he set up camp on a expedition. He at least has moderate skill with a short-sword.
Personality: Somewhat hyper and lively at times. He is intelligent, though he has almost no self control. He has no problem casting more misremembered spells even when they are either harmless or, worst-case-scenario, backfire heavily. Generally calm and cheerful, but becomes childishly aggressive and over-dramatic (more so than usual) when he feels as if he has been challenged or insulted. Presumably, he is only this eccentric due to having never interacted with other children in his village and instead focusing on his research.
Backstory (Optional): Lere's future was looking great. He was going to solve the entire world's problems with his magic alone. He'd lived in a small fishing village most of his life. He, being a magical prodigy, was also helped by his immense luck in discovering the ultimate spell tome through research alone. He could make amazing use of it due to his great magical capacity. However, it was all downhill from there. Once he lost his tome, he was powerless. People eventually stopped coming from other towns just to see him. He no longer had any status in the world to dabble in politics and achieve his goal. ...But he tried. He listened to the rumours around town. Through perseverance, he pinpointed the location of a certain enchanted forest through research alone once again. He would take his life back and 'save' the world.
Cali whispers to Tarel. "See you in a bit. I have something to do." Cali walks off from Tarel. She enters a bakery and asks the person who appears to be in charge where a magician is.
"Uh, see ya." Tarel says while he wanders around the market, searching for anything that looks like he might be able to draw a spell out of like a scroll.

The store owner tells her that the only magicians she knows of work for the Court or travel around the place.
"Uh, see ya." Tarel says while he wanders around the market, searching for anything that looks like he might be able to draw a spell out of like a scroll.
There doesn't seem to be anyone selling spells on the market. Tarel walks past a kid that seems to be selling all kinds of random things that are laid out on a sheet in front of him.
"Hello there! Want to buy something?"

Ashen however is busy watching a rather large piece of bread being bought by someone else, and flaps her wings in excitement.

Cali nods. And she begins looking around the market and asks various people where she can find them.
The people on the market unfortunately either don't know whether or not there's a magician at the market, though some say that there is one somewhere but they don't know where.
The Raven flies back over the city wall and drops the watermelon, it narrowly misses Cali's head and smashes to pieces on the ground.

The kid looks up at Tarel and smiles, his green eyes looks as if they're glowing.
"Well, I have all kinds of things, as you can see. But perhaps you're interested in.."
The kid pulls what appear to be some kind of playing cards from a messenger bag, and shuffles them, before taking the top one and flipping it over on his other hand, causing it to turn into a statuette of sorts.
".. some kind of statue? I don't really know what this is..."

A single shatter. It was enough to end a story and start a new one.
"It wasn't meant to be like this."
The last, despairing, hopeless words in a 'dying' universe. However, this isn't the tale of the end of that story.
Lere is shocked awake in front of a fire he had made himself the night before, in front of the enchanted forest.
"What a dream!! I'm already touched! I must find this man and help him!"
Then he frowns for a second, contemplating if the person in his dream was trying to do a bad impression of Lere's voice or not.
"...I'll worry about that later. Prioritising is for pansies, but I can handle it for now! For I am the great! The almighty! Lere! Who can multitask, but has decided to choose his priorities because he wants to! I swear, it's true!"
Lere immediately puts on his mantle and leaves for the forest, wondering how he managed to embarrass himself in front of himself.
The kid looks up at Tarel and smiles, his green eyes looks as if they're glowing.

".. some kind of statue? I don't really know what this is..."
Tarel stares a bit at the statuette, almost seeing something about it, but he blinks a few times to make it go away. "So you don't know what it is? Well what has it done while you've had it?"

"Look cool and somehow turn nightmares into magical energy it seems. Never figured out how to get the magical energy out of it though."

"Hmm, let's see if I can try..." Tarel grabs a stick from the ground and smooths it out a bit. He then asks to hold the statuette.
Ashen knows what's going to happen, and she climbs down Tarel's shoulder and lands on the floor next to the sheet.

Tarel takes the statuette and his hands start to glow a variety of colours. The spell attempts to transfer part of the power the statuette holds into the stick, at an inefficient rate for a standard stick.

The stick catches fire due to the amount of energy that is trying to get through it.
"Cool, you made fire!"

Tarel slightly panics at the sight of the sudden flame. "Aaaah... that's not meant to happen." He shoves the flaming part of the stick into a patch of dirt to extinguish it before returning. "So, not exactly what I had in mind for that spell..." He hands the statuette back.

Cali sets her bag down and pulls out the Jar with the wisp and rock in it. The kid sees it. "I'm looking for someone who can open this jar up and tell me what this creature is. Can you?" Cali says.
Tarel slightly panics at the sight of the sudden flame. "Aaaah... that's not meant to happen." He shoves the flaming part of the stick into a patch of dirt to extinguish it before returning. "So, not exactly what I had in mind for that spell..." He hands the statuette back.
Something shimmering weaves and flows over the dirt beneath their feet.
In the distance, the sky seems to open some sort of green and black portal that appears for a moment, before disappearing altogether. However in that moment something glowing purple flings itself out, quickly becoming a shooting star visible from anywhere even in the broad daylight, and creating several audible sonic booms while lightning connected it with the ground. It falls towards the Dark Forest outside of town, and crashes near its edge. A young woman named Jalia Xyber was walking beside the forest that day, and noticed the crash. She quickly ran towards it, and what she saw was a strange sight indeed. It was some sort of alien metal ball, crackling with electricity, like the kind she saw in science fiction books.
Meanwhile, in IRIS' CPU...
Velocity: 0 km/h. Altitude: 0 m. Scanning local area...
Major species: Human, Shade. Assuming appearance of local lifeform...
Attempting to contact greater consciousness...
Contact attempt failed. Conclusion: The rest of IRIS no longer exists. Switching to primary goal: self-preservation.
Alert: Lifeform detected nearby. Apprehending...
The metal ball slowly coalesced into a human form, and Jalia was surprised.
[What the heck is that!]
She pulled up her crossbow, although she was unsure whether it would even work against this... thing. It... no, she started to speak... in her own native language?
[<Who are you?>]
Jalia quivered slightly as the robot stood up and looked at her with human eyes. No, not quite. They looked like human eyes but they lacked the spark that made it truely human, as if it was dead inside. But fortunately her years of training had allowed her to ignore those emotions and face the newcomer, not that anyone knew who the real Arcadian Viper was but her.
[My name is Jalia Xyber. Who are you?]
IRIS decided to run this woman's looks, name, and behavior against her own memory banks. No match. It seemed like this really was a new world to IRIS - one that she had never been to before. Perfect.
[<Call me Iris Xelandra.>]
[Well, hello, Iris. What are you?]
[<I am an artificial superintelligence and the last remnant of my hive mind. Now that you have seen me, you must die.>] IRIS moved to grab Jalia.
Jalia was now really scared. [No no no! I won't tell a soul about your true existence, even if I was tortured!] IRIS stopped short at that remark. The robot looked deep into Jalia's cold, steely eyes and let go. [<I have determined you are telling the truth. Let's be allies for now.>] It seemed like IRIS still had a piece of her old self in there, even after everything that happened.
Jalia recomposed herself and picked up the crossbow that she dropped before reattaching it to her back. [Should we stay at my place for now?]
[<Yes, that would be agreeable.>] IRIS turned herself into a horse, surprising Jalia yet again. [Well, then. That should make things a bit faster.] She leapt on and the horse galloped off back to the city.

Tarel doesn't take much notice, but Ashen, who is closer to the ground scampers out of the way of the shimmering.
Though the substance behaves like a liquid, something about it doesn't seem quite right. Part of the central stream starts to branch off before curving back into the whole, surrounding Ashen in a glittery, foamy moat.

Most of the buildings around the market seem to either be storehouses or shops. Among the shops are a bakery, blacksmith and a restaurant.

Lere had set up camp within walking distance of the forest, so getting there didn't take much time.
