Not all efforts are met with success. The Injuoki attempt to reconcile the differences between the Sobatzki and the Tröonti has failed miserably, instead unearthing a deep hatred which has developed between these two tribes. The meeting which was held descended into violence, forcing the Injuoki to retreat as a war was finally born. The Injuoki have sent messengers to each of the other tribes, warning them that a conflict has emerged, and that no other tribes should become involved. The delicate union which has managed to maintain itself thus far is too beneficial to be disturbed, especially in light of the threat which the Vatrugi still present to the south. Unfortunately, the Sobatzki and the Tröonti have also sent messengers, asking for support from their fellow tribes in a conflict which they both claim that their adversary is to blame for. Tensions are, of course, rising.
Vatrugos:
Behold the power of a civilization built upon the tenets of religious fervency and national expansion! Vatrugos is an old nation, revitalized now by advancements in infrastructure, diplomacy, and trade. However, the toughest tradition to break is that of religion and society. It remains to be seen how this will be dealt with in this powerful, prosperous nation, but recent events may shed some light upon the subject. Specifically, it should be noted that the Great Culling of the Sea has come to its complete end without much concern amongst the population about its success or failure, as there are a sufficient number of other successes to overpower this single tradition. Some priests have been castigated for suggesting that the nation is set to collapse due to its ignorance on the subject of the sea-gods; residences, personal belongings, and political or social statures have all been ripped from their grasps. Meanwhile, in the north, success is apparent. The trade deal with Erabas has been easily approved of, and masses of workers have begun to chop down swaths of jungle wood to be given to Erabas. Foreign labour is expected to arrive soon. Relations with their other neighbours are not nearly as positive - the Tribes of Sin’jok are seeing turmoil, and the Vatrugi are seeing potential for expansion.
Erabas:
On paper, the nation is improving, but the sentiment is not so. The deal with Fae-Qwan is promising, and it will provide many jobs for workers on the southern coast, where forestry is set to take place. Alternatively, the recent agreement with Vatrugos will provide work for the southern inland communities, where the effects of the surprising recent famine have been most heavily felt. The government is currently procuring volunteers to be sent to Vatrugos as part of the deal; many have come forward, as even the meagre salary offered by the kingdom is higher than what can be made in agriculture at the moment. The necessity for a “Royal Nutritional Reserve” was quite conveniently timed for the kingdom. Meanwhile, the northern half of the kingdom, traditionally more advanced and better-educated, has turned its eyes and minds towards a series of possible courses of action. One is the conquest of the Cantaraves; another is interference in the tumultuous affairs of Utos; the final option is an invasion of the weakened Sin’joki tribes. All of these matters are discussed in the middle-classes, but it is the aristocracy which will decide the eventual course of action for this stable nation.
Utos:
Lord Rith Vytas of the Cantaraves did arrive in the capitol, though he was days too late. The king, though not yet dead, is incapable of appearing in court; Queen Alyé has taken his place for the time being. Tales of her beauty and youth have been written and performed in her honour as nobles try to win the favour of the individual who will clearly now decide upon the heir to the throne. However, Queen Alyé’s favour will not be won by mere flattery. Upon hearing the impassioned plea of Lord Vytas, she has decreed that whichever lord might provide the most support to the Cantaraves in their time of need shall earn her gratitude. Accordingly, a great effort is now being made to provide the aid which the Cantaraves require so desperately. Lord Vytas is set to travel to the islands within the month, accompanied by supplies for the re-establishment of the colonies. The question which is most pressing still has yet to be answered, unfortunately: Who shall rule Utos when King Jess is dead?
Maranavok:
Maranavok has done little publicly within the past month, although they have emitted several squadrons to patrol the T’ing-Mat’ao border. Rumours suggest that these troops are in fact a pre-emptive defence against possible invasion from the south, if the political turmoil of T’ing-Mat’ao is resolved in an unsavoury manner. Meanwhile, the Cantaraves continue to be neglected, and the region of Lewftehoffe on the eastern border has found a new general to govern its forces after the retirement of the aged Olio Strath, a fierce figure, and a vocal proponent of expansionism, especially for the Lewftehoffe region. This new general, Sinbar Truant, seems to share Strath’s views, except he is younger, and therefore more ardent in his beliefs. Lewftehoffe has always been a large threat to Arenthia, so these recent developments should only encourage more concerns.
T'ing-Mat'ao:
Protests and violence! Destruction in the streets of T’ing-Mat’ao has been fuelled by political tensions which have shown few signs of letting up. One ray of hope is the rumour of a coalition government, or perhaps a compromise, soon to be announced between the various elected officials who represent the nation’s countless distinct regions. T’ing-Mat’ao has oft been labelled a nation of unrealistic harmony - it must be wondered if this age is set to end, and if these new great divides will be reconcilable after all the turmoil they have caused.
Omantiosa:
The end is in sight for poor Omantiosa. While the swift attacks of the Ksintiosan Empire were enough to make many lose hope in the past few months, three new events have, without fail, assured the downfall of this once-great nation.
The first blow was struck by Fae-Qwan when it denied Omantiosa of the agreement which the nation so desperately needed. Allowing Tsin to procure weapons and preventing Omantiosa from defending itself, this action by the island nation will indubitably be referred to in the future as the final nail in the coffin of Omantiosa.
Next came the declaration of Tsin: A war is to be waged! It is clear that this is a war of opportunity, as there is little which Tsin has to gain by taking over the territory of Omantiosa. The argument that this is an investment in the future is a convincing one - were Tsin to remain impassive in the conflict of Omantiosa and the Ksintiosan Empire, it would find itself, at some point in the future, facing an empire which had won everything. The only possible recourse for Tsin was for Tsin to claim some land, and what land better to claim than that which borders the Gulf of Sintos? Therefore, it is on that front that Tsin has launched its gamble for victory.
Finally, the Ksintiosan Empire made what must be said to have been among the greatest military victories of the war to that point. Bringing its fleet to the coastal capital of Omantiosa, the Ksintiosan Navy launched a bombardment which quickly brought the city’s ports into a state of disrepair. Incapable of defending itself, the city was then assailed by a group of soldiers transported to the shore by a pair of large vessels. The city quickly fell to the invaders, who were only minutes behind the governmental officials who fled the town, aiming to find refuge in the north.
Thus, Omantiosa fell in the south, with any remaining militias taking the defeat of the capital and the fleeing of the government as a sign of surrender. In the north, forces continue to combat the Ksintiosan wave, but they are weak. The mountains may yet act as a natural barrier for the Empire, but little above them is truly worth saving. Efforts to create a treaty with Arenthia are still underway despite the lack of responses from that nation, and some militias are gathering in the unofficial northern capital to create a final resistance to the Ksintiosan wave.
Tsin:
The invasion of Omantiosa is now underway! Diplomatic victories with Fae-Qwan and the Ksintiosan Empire will allow for many military victories to occur in the near future. As for the diplomatic victory with the Ksintiosan Empire, it has been called many things - the “Omantiosan Victory Pact” is one. This treaty dictates which portions of the Omantiosan territory will be conquered by which military. In this way, the two invaders will not come to blows with each other, but they will both enjoy significant aggrandizements of their respective nations. This is significant, as while it is not a direct act of alliance, it is certainly a powerful symbol of cooperation within the Gulf of Sintos. Meanwhile, the first shipments of payment have been sent to Fae-Qwan, despite some evidence that the military efforts of Tsin will not be nearly as grand as once thought. Unlike the Ksintiosan Empire, Tsin will be conquering villages which have mostly decided to surrender. Some large, proud coastal cities may resist, and this must be where the Fae-Qwan weapons will be put to use. All the same, some suggest that the trade deal was unnecessary, and that Tsin was taken advantage of unfairly by the Fae-Qwan military industrial machine.
Ksintiosan Empire:
The Ksintiosan Empire is in a state of renewed stability! The success and speed of the invasion of Omantiosa, coupled with the growing tensions with Kyrik and the recent public protests, have caused the nation some stress, but recent actions are serving to subdue any potential turmoil which might arrive. Emperor Yan-Sun has issued the following decrees in recent times:
Any man who is declared a worthy member of the Empire shall be granted the right to serve in the military or navy of this nation.
Any woman who is declared a worthy member of the Empire shall be granted the right to serve in the navy of this nation.
Any man or woman, adult or child, who lives in a territory which has recently come under the protection of the Empire, shall be granted the rights which are gifted to any other citizen of this nation.
The new territories of this Empire shall be provided with assistance in goods, labour, and infrastructure, so that the unity and prosperity of this Empire shall be shared equally and shall be empowered by all of this Empire’s citizens.
The nation of Kyrik shall be regarded as a friend of this Empire in spite of recent acts of grave disrespect which have been committed by said nation.
So it is that morale within the nation has again reached an acceptable level. The women of the empire are pleased to have finally been granted the right to fight and die for their Empire, even if their ranks are to be secluded in the navy. This will allow for more men to serve on the front lines of the military, where their naturally superior strength will be put to better use. Such is the logic of the Emperor. Meanwhile, in the conquered lands of Omantiosa, the Emperor hopes to see a new nationalism grow. He believes that since the government of Omantiosa paid such minimal attention to the needs of the small villages, a sudden attentiveness brought with the arrival of Ksintiosan troops might convince some that this new regime will be beneficial to all. Finally, of course, there is the matter of Kyrian aggression. In an effort to again demonstrate the Empire’s peaceful intentions, Emperor Yan-Sun has chosen to overlook the grave disrespect which was implied by the Kyrian ignorance of the Ksintiosan Empire’s letter requesting the desistment of any further activities in the waterways which are so vital to the Empire’s economic prosperity. The Emperor has sent the letter yet again:
“It saddens the Emperor and his Empire that relations with the Kyrians are at such a dismal low. It has in no way been the intent of the Empire to make the Kyrians feel threatened, and we have extended many offerings of goodwill in the past, such as our support for your recent games. The Emperor now asks for a small favour in return for the decencies he has granted in the past. It is only fitting that the Kyrians cease to patrol so aggressively the waters which are vital to the survival and unity of the Empire. The merchants of the Empire have felt threatened by the constant presence of Kyrian vessels in the Gulf of Sintos, patrolling trade routes which have been formally assigned to the Emperor’s possession. As well, it is of vital importance to the Emperor and his Empire that the Kyrian government should cease to allow for such harmful rumours such as those pertaining to the involvement of the Empire in the death of respected Kyrian officials to be spread amongst the populace. These are deeply offensive, and harmful to the common cause. Should the Kyrians cease these war-mongering actions, the Emperor and his Empire shall rejoice in the knowledge that friendship between these two nations is possible, now and forever.
The Empire continues to await word from Tos on the state of their potential alliance, while issuing an official decree that the alliance with Tos is in no way an act of aggression against the powerful Kyrian nation. Meanwhile, “Yan-Sun’s Scorpion”, shortened to “The Scorpion” by the troops who now use it, has been distributed to all of its intended locations. Local militias are eager to test its prowess, and have begun shooting at sea-birds and gulf-dwelling whales. The Empire also shares word that it is quite proud of its recent ‘liberations’ in Omantiosa. It has sent a gift of thirty horses to the former Omantiosan capital, to be distributed through a lottery to the people of the city in honour of their new-found Ksintiosan citizenship.
Gualichos:
King Otsensen makes a speech in public. Unfortunately, he fumbles through his words, sputtering disgust at various individuals, and is ridiculed by the populace. Enraged, he issues decrees that the local militia should act with more strictness against criminals, vagabonds, and traitors.
Riplentique:
In response to wage cuts in the southern mines, a group of workers decide to strike. This is an unprecedented situation, and has resulted in widespread panic and surging goods prices. The governmental reserve, however, remains untouched. As well, Riplentique agrees easily to the conference suggested by Kurubar.
Kurubar:
Kurubar stands strong, and continues to push for a conference between the four northern nations of the southern isle. They re-send diplomats to Tamlar, and Q’rin, requesting that a conference be held between delegates from these nations and delegates from Kurubar itself, with the subject of this conference being the promotion of an effort to establish a single, official, militarily-protected trading route spanning the four territories, as Riplentique has already agreed. Meanwhile, Kurubarian officials finally engage those delegates from Mylanos who wished to discuss a trade deal, and trade continues with Riplentique.
Southern Kurubar:
The military forces of Southern Kurubar began their advance into the territory of Indigosoki-Vontropanos, not expecting a significant resistance. While they managed to easily gain control of many settlements, rebellious groups continue to attack the army, dealing significant losses. The military did not expect such a difficult invasion for such a weakened country.
Other Events Worth Noting:
-The general harvest season is two updates away, which means that we’re pushing into what might be considered the fall/winter months.
-Mylanos has suffered some small skirmishes with the military organizations which have ravaged Indigosoki-Vontropanos for months. The injuries sustained from these conflicts are no greater than those afflicted to the forces of Southern Kurubar, but they are still an annoyance. For the most part, however, the stabilization is on track to be a success.
-The backlash from the murder of an official at the Kyrian games has been, to a degree, subdued by the impending state of war which is recognized across the nation. The nationalism which always accompanies the anticipation of war has buried some thoughts of discontent, and has mostly presented any rebellion against a supposed enemy in the nation’s leadership. Were this state of war not so recognized, the consequences of the murder might have been much more concerning.
-Kyrik’s military training and growth, while undoubtedly impressive and powerful, have already had serious effects on the nation’s economy. As many civilians devote their time to training, rather than to the upkeep of their businesses and farms, some goods are already seeing shortages, while a deep concern about the upcoming harvest season’s crops is being held by some. A vast and powerful army might be useful, if it can be supported sufficiently by the population on whose behalf it fights.
-Unfortunately, no efforts by the Q’Rin priesthood can avail their member of his illness. He dies shortly after his return. Thankfully, none of the priests who tended to their brother appear to have taken ill at the moment. The disease remains perplexing.
-Less perplexing is the reaction of the Q’Rin youth to the offer by the gentry of various herd animals. He quickly agrees, and tours the town professing how fortunate he was to have been saved by heaven from this disease. This sparks a renewed religious fervency, as the afflicted members of the town desperately try to gain the favour of their heavenly onlookers so that they, too, might skirt death at the hands of the illness.
-The failing state of Omantiosa is now desperate to gain an alliance with Arenthia, a comparatively prosperous kingdom, in a final effort to stall the onslaught of the Ksintiosan Empire. With the most powerful city now located far closer to Arenthia, diplomacy may be made easier.
((Pending map updates, which I may or may not have forgotten to do.))
-No changes. Stabilization efforts in Indigosoki-Vontropanos continue.
Fourth Army:
-Fourth Army marches to Fort Kandor in preparation to answer Kyrik's call for military aid. ((See below))
Infrastructure Actions:
-Reconstruction of damaged Indigosoki-Vontropanos cities and infrastructure continues.
-Food stockpiling is mildly increased in preparation for winter.
Diplomatic Actions:
-Mylanos agrees to Kyrik's request for military assistance, offering the entirety of Fourth Army, approximately 190,000 troops (Nearly 2/9th of the entire military), under the condition that Kyrik provides the naval transportation for the army, since Mylanos lacks a sufficient navy to transport so many troops.
-Mylanos drafts and proposes a military treaty with Kyrik for future military assistance between both nations. Mylanos is also open to future trade agreements.
The Proposed Treaty:
((I could not be bothered to write a fancy fluff article at midnight, so I just listed the key conditions for the treaty. But a tl;dr would be that Mylanos and Kyrik will bolster eachother's military weaknesses, which for Mylanos is the navy and for Kyrik is the army (by pre-buildup comparison). I don't see any obvious issues with it (keep in mind I'm writing at midnight), but I'm open to just editing the post at TheSkeleMiner's request in Newsletter chat instead of dealing with a ping/pong of debate posts.))
The Mylanos/Kyrik Military Alliance:
At all times:
The nation being lent forces shall have command of said forces until they are returned.
A nation can refuse or return mandatory forces sent from the other nation if they are unneeded or cannot be supplied.
Neither nation is required to declare war with anyone in support of the other nation.
The nation being lent forces must supply said forces to the best of their ability. Additional supplies shall be provided, if necessary, from their homeland.
Kyrik must always provide naval transport for any Mylanese forces and supplies it is receiving or returning.
If one of our two nations is about to go to war, the other should be notified in advance so that they may prepare the additional mandatory wartime forces.
Additional wartime forces must be returned after the war is over unless permission is given from their homeland.
It is recommended (but not required) to lend more than the required number of forces if possible.
The number of troops to be sent only includes active military personnel, not potential draftees.
Mandatory forces to be lent if both Mylanos and Kyrik are in a state of overall peace:
Mylanos shall provide Kyrik with atleast ~1/7th of its entire land army for purposes such as border defense or internal security.
Kyrik shall provide Mylanos with atleast ~1/7th of its entire navy (ships included) for purposes such as troop transport, coastal defense, and trade route defense.
Mandatory forces to be lent if one of our nations is in a state of war (defensive or offensive) and the other is in an overall state of peace:
The peace-nation shall provide the war-nation with atleast ~1/5th of its entire forces (Naval if Kyrik is the peace-nation, and land if Mylanos is the peace-nation).
Mandatory forces to be lent if both of our nations are in a state of war:
Neither nation is required to supply the other with any forces, but for the sake of the alliance, it is recommended to lend whatever can be spared depending on the situation.
Informal Actions:
-Preparations are made for a national day of games and feasting to celebrate continuing stability in Indigosoki-Vontropanos and the potential military alliance with Kyrik.
Diplomatic Ties:
(+) Potential alliance with Kyrik.
(-) Ongoing fighting in Indigosoki-Vontropanos.
Military Situations:
Second Army: -Same as before.
Fourth Army:
-190,000 troops moved to Fort Kandor to be received by Kyrik's navy.
Military Actions: Naval Defence Fleet
- The NDF is currently patrolling the coastal seas, hunting for raiders. Merchant Navy
- The MN is currently escorting trade ships all around the world.
National Defense
- The ND has troops stationed in major cities and patrolling important roads to ensure stability in the nation.
Infrastructure Actions:
The Grand Forge construction programme is still underway, and will likely not be completed before the start of the harvest season.
Diplomatic Actions:
Informal Actions:
A small population of Fae-Qwan does not approve with the recent events regarding Omantiosa.
The Pacifists are upset and quote the speech the clanmaster of the Yelekh clan gave when he rose to power, where he stated that he would usher in an era of peace for Fae-Qwan. The pacifists argue that getting involved in selling weapons to nations at war might result in war coming to Fae-Qwan.
Certain groups of merchants are angry with the likelyhood of losing a good trade partner, though the prospect of better relations with Tsin is promising.
And finally, the old Warlords think that Fae-Qwan should go to war with the dying nation of Omatiosa to grab a bit of land.
Diplomatic Ties:
Trade deal with Tsin
Treaty with Arenthia
Trade deal with Erabas
Military Actions: -The navy of Kyrik has dispensed 1/5 of itself to Mylanos, as the treaty has been accepted without a hitch. 1/4 of the military has been dispensed into the failing nation of Omatiosa, to claim a piece of the land for itself, despite having nothing to do with the fall of Omatiosa. The patrol ships have been retracted from the Ksintiosan waters, but rumor has it something very large and mysterious is happening in the nation of Kyrik....
Infrastructure Actions: -The population of Kyrik has slowed training to compensate for the harvest season and the large workload ahead.
Diplomatic Actions: -The Kyrians are still debating a war with the Ksintiosan Empire, and are still awaiting confirmation of the treaty with Tos. The treaty received from Mylanos has met the necessary requirements, and was accepted with little hesitation.
Informal Actions: -Kyrik has dismissed the murder as a personal matter, rather then a political one. Amedeus has declared a holiday to boost moral, as well as to commemorate the newfound alliance with Mylanos. As the KyrianGrand Games come to a close, the administrator of the games prepares to reveal the winners of the individual competitions!
Diplomatic Ties: -
(+Alliance with Mylanos)
(+Better relations with Ksintiosan) (+Kyrian Grand Games coming to a close)
(-Border Tension ~ Ksintiosan)
(-Border Tension ~ Omatiosa)
Military Situations: -1/5 of Kyrik's navy has been delivered to Mylanos, as well as the Great Demise. Theriom has also accompanied the fleet to ferry the troops from Mylanos back to Kyrik.
To build, is to live. To grief, is to be banned. ~Unknown
John 3:16 ~For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life!
An even combat is developing amongst the tribes, as the various groups pledge allegiance to one another. Thus far, any actual combat has only been seen in small skirmishes on the border of the Sobatzki and the Tröonti, but the possibility of further conflict is all too large. The Injuoki, alongside a small menagerie of compatriots, are all that have remained completely neutral in this brewing war. Meanwhile, the threat of the Vatrugi becomes more real with each passing day of growing instability.
Vatrugos:
The labourers sent by Erabas have been put to good use in the construction of the temple-fortresses, though the conditions are harsh, and the workers maltreated. With this new assistance, the Vatrugi only see themselves growing more powerful. Meanwhile, they seem likely to fulfill their side of the bargain in the coming weeks, as countless trees are chopped down and transported to the Erabasian ports. Interestingly, the Vatrugi have managed to maintain prosperity all across their territory, with major cities and industries distributed rather evenly to each corner of the empowered nation.
Erabas:
Erabas is rather quiet this month. Neither war nor peace has befallen the nation, simply anticipation and monotony. The workers in the south have begun their contract with the Vatrugi; now, they toil away for hours on end under the hot humidity of the jungle atmosphere, and the watchful eyes of the Vatrugi extremists who see these foreigners as a potential threat to both the efficiency and the security of the fortress constructions. Meanwhile, the trade deal with Fae-Qwan is in full swing, with lumber being shipped from one of the southern ports. They still await their first shipment of weaponry, however, and until they can receive this, it is expected that anticipation will continue to brew.
Utos:
Aid to the Cantaraves has at last arrived in large quantities, bringing a renewed sense of security to those elongated members of the united kingdoms. Lord Vytas has thanked the royalty of the mainland profusely, and in turn, Queen Alyé has extended her gratitude, as well as that of the King, to all of the various houses which provided aid to those island colonies.
Omantiosa:
Hope, perchance? Despite the onslaught of the Ksintiosan Empire, the annexation by the Tsin, the abandonment by the Island Nation of Fae-Qwan, and the opportunism of the Kyrians, Omantiosa sees hope in two places. First is the assistance offered by Arenthia. Hope for this had been dissipating in recent weeks as it grew more and more likely that, even if the Arenthians chose to respond, they would not choose to help such a hopeless cause as Omantiosa. Even now it appears that there will be little value to what the Arenthians can offer - food and supplies, while vital to survival, are only one part of victory. The second object of Omantiosan hope is the growing tension between the Ksintiosan Empire and the Kyrians. Were these two invaders to abandon their expansion in favour of conflict, the Omantiosans would find themselves capable of salvaging some territory near their stronghold. However, this is not enough to give the failing state any inkling of confidence - Omantiosa, as it was before, has fallen, and what it shall become is yet to be seen.
Tsin:
The Tsin have found themselves welcomed into some of Omantiosa’s communities which now harbour pain at the perceived betrayal which they suffered at their hands of their own government. It has been easy for Tsin to expand itself into every inch of territory which they were guaranteed under the treaty with the Ksintiosan Empire, and they are glad for this - now, the weaponry they receive from Fae-Qwan shall be only shinier for the defence of their nation in the case that any of the nearby powers should choose to invade this balanced land.
Ksintiosan Empire:
Sweet surrender! The Ksintiosan Empire has been ever so glad to find that many of the territories which it has invaded are now willingly supporting the Empire in purposes of taxation, infrastructure, and agriculture. It appears that the hands-on approach, whereby the Empire has quickly introduced units of soldiers to assist in revitalizing small towns, and also whereby the Empire has dispatched convoys of goods and technologies to help the struggling settlements, is a welcome sign of future prosperity. There is still vast discomfort about the invasion, as would be expected, but since it was such a peaceful act, stability is predicted to be a certainty of the future. Then again, nothing can be certain when the ominous actions of Kyrik are so threatening. The decision to remove the patrol ships from the gulf has been met with great celebration within the cities of the Empire, and the economy has seen a boost as a result of this momentous event. The Empire has officially thanked the Kyrians for their goodwill, though unofficially, they have grown quite concerned about what might be afoot in the mists of their neighbour’s land. In response, the advance into Omantiosa has been slowed, and various units have been recalled to defend the borders of the Empire - especially those on the remote southern province. Meanwhile, the efforts to transition towards a women-based navy have been largely completed. Some are worried that this may prove disastrous for the nation, but for the most part, this is a matter of great excitement. Finally, the horse-gift to the former capital of Omantiosa was well-received, especially by those to whom the horses were eventually gifted.
Gualichos:
King Otsensen has had executed three high-ranking officials for participating in a “coup”. Unfortunately, many believe that this is only a sign that the King has abandoned his wits and succumbed completely to paranoia. The upper classes have grown concerned, and the economy now feels this, as merchants cease to receive enough money to warrant travelling to the capital, where taxes are high and militias strict. The northern city of Junia has received much of the commerce lost from the capital, as it enjoys a rather sizeable aristocracy and a reasonable - if not narcissistic - ruler by the name of Lord Jun.
Tamlar:
Tamlar, like both of its neighbours, sends representatives to the Kurubarian summit on the formation of a northern trade route. The harvest season, meanwhile, brings a general sense of joy to the nation.
Kurubar:
Kurubar is proud to host its partners in discussing a trade route. They returned to their own nation with the diplomats of Q’rin, Tamlar, and Riplentique in tow. A delegation from Southern Kurubar has also arrived at the site of the discussions, though they are only present as observers. Unfortunately, the messengers to invite Mendratia and Mylanos to attend the meeting as observers were not sent out until recently; now, however, they should arrive, and if the delegates are quick, the two nations might manage to have their own representatives present.
Southern Kurubar:
Officially, Southern Kurubar’s annexed territory is under control, though turmoil is still prevalent, and a strong border exists between the old lands and the new. Various unhappy victims of the invasion seem to have coalesced around a single group, known as “The Defenders of the Motherland.” This group is causing problems across all of former Indigosoki-Vontropanos, including the lands conquered by the imposing military might of Mylanos. Strangely, a unity only arose when external forces threatened the divided land.
Other Events Worth Noting:
-The general harvest season will occur in the upcoming update, although Tamlar has already begun to celebrate its annual crops.
-Mylanos now seems poised to enter a full-scale guerrilla war with “The Defenders of the Motherland,” should they choose to continue occupying and stabilizing this ravaged country.
-Unfortunately, despite the efforts to save their harvest, Kyrik’s huge military efforts do not appear to be capable of scaling down enough to compensate for the upcoming harvest season. Many predict that the effects will be only mildly concerning, though for such a huge nation, a small result will have a large ripple effect.
-The Priesthood of Q’rin might find it useful to know that those priest-healers of the foothills know little of this disease, although there is an old tribal legend which speaks of Gods who poisoned the rivers when the people failed to worship them.
-General Sinbar Truant, having been informed of his banishment from Maranavok, has officially announced the formation of a new state, to be recognized henceforth as a safe haven for those of the old Maranavok, the Maranavok which was not afraid to stand up for what was rightfully within its grasp. This state shall be known as Lewftehoffe, and as of its foundation is comprises of the entirety of the Lewftehoffian county. Many of the old war generals have announced their intentions to bring any and all of their loyal troops to the new nation of Lewftehoffe, where conquest and expansion shall not only be encouraged, but expected.
-T’ing-Mat’ao seems to have grown calmer with a new government elected, and with the sudden change in Maranavok’s intentions. The nation might now expect some stability.
-The military starts to be built up under the new administration.
Infrastructure Actions:
-A new wall starts being built on the border with Maranavok, although with the frequent elections its construction would be erratic.
Diplomatic Actions:
-The Republic reminds everyone of their continued protectionist trade and neutrality policy.
-The treaty with Maranavok is declared null and void, as the paper is publicly torn into pieces and burnt by the Caesar to huge cheering crowds.
Political Actions:
-The newest election narrowly gives a majority of the Senate to a coalition led by the T'ing-Matao Independence Party, and the position of Caesar to one Donaldus Conflo due to the previous political tensions.
-The new Caesar asks the Senate for a stop of all immigration to their country. The Senate accepts and a bill is rapidly passed through and put into law.
Informal Actions:
-A new National Holiday is made called Victory Day, which is set on the lunar day of the tearing of the treaty.
-Peaceful protests are made by the Opposition, although it could devolve into riots.

Winning 2 out of 10 competitions, it was not stunning, though much better than other participating countries. In third place, with 2 victories, came Q'rin. Though not a standout country, it was excellent in the physical sports. Lastly, tied for fourth, came Southern Kurubar, and Riplentique, tied with 1 victory to their names. Kurubar did poorly in all events, sadly. The prizes will be shipped to the winning nations, accompanied by Kyrik's flagship, The Great Demise.

The Mendratian Principalities - The 1st Biennial Ambassadorial Meeting, part 1
The first biennial meeting had been decided to be held in Daisuke, the largest city of mainland Mendratia. For the first time in the history of this land, a representative of every one of the ten tribes would meet with their peers from the other tribes to discuss matters that concern the entire region and the common benefit of all tribes, instead of the well being of just one of them. To commemorate for this extraordinary event (which will hopefully persist and become a biennial event as originally planned), thousands of citizens from all around the West gathered in Daisuke, to observe the public meeting which would be conducted at the central square.
The affair became such an attraction to the locals that the crowd exceeded the expected amount that the square could support. As a result, the Western Guard had to assemble a unit of peacekeepers in the commemoriation in order to maintain the physical integrity of the honorable council of the ambassadors. Nobody would want to see a diplomatic episode being caused by bystanders that attempt assassination against a council member - a scenario that wasn't far out of the picture considering the rather volatile relationships between the various tribes of Mendratia.
To bolster the celebration, the kings of Chun, Daisuke and Feng attended with their entire royal courts assembled, bringing with them jesters, performers and reknown chefs of their lands. The feast that would follow this event was going to be held in the palace of Daisuke, where the royal court of each of these tribes would contribute to make the event as memorable for everyone as possible. Unfortunately, the kings of the other seven tribes didn't follow their respective diplomatic missions to Daisuke, being afraid of the treatment that they would receive there, but an active guard of each of these nations, together with hand-picked soldiers of the National Guard, were deployed to see that their ambassadors reach Daisuke safely.
But even though the event was aiming towards the protection of every tribe's interests in both land and economy, it was a known fact that the Western Pact - the unofficial alliance of the three great western tribes - was going to impact the verdict of close to every course of action that the board would elect. The total population of Feng, Chun and Daisuke was bigger than the entire population of the other tribes, heavily outweighting the importance of their ambassadors against that of those of the other seven settlements.
Celebratory bells rang and horns chanted, as the ten diplomatic missions entered Daisuke under the keep eye of Bastion operatives overwatching the event. The people screamt in joy, letting songs of cheerfulness and satisfaction fill the atmosphere of Daisuke. Everyone was excited, as on this day, the coglomeration of tribes that is Mendratia would, for the first time in history, decide and act together as one, unified nation of people. The feasts were splendid, and the revered musicians of the west performed in every corner, alley and square of Daisuke. Merchants set up shops and bazaars, to join in for an event that would be held for three weeks in Daisuke. Even the lower class took their day off the field, to join in the free celebrations that took place all over the inner city.
Military Actions
Eighty percent of the Western Guard (approx. 20,000 soldiers) are now stationed in Daisuke. They are on high guard to secure the integrity of the meeting. The remaining force has been deployed across the naval border of Lake Karabat, to secure the frontline from 'visitors'.
An undisclosed amount of Bastion operatives is overwatching the event. The number is estimated to be around a thousand hands.
Around seven thousand units of the National Guard are now being stationed in Daisuke, one thousand per mission arriving from the eastern provinces. They are to remain there for the entire three-week period, and escort their respective missions back home once the event has been completed.
Infrastructure Actions
To commemorate the event, Daisuke has entered a rapid state of growth with multiple buildings and roads being developed all over the city.
Reconstructing the road network has been completed. (1/1)
A flea market and multiple celebratory banquets are being held across the nation. (1/1) According to the estimations of the royal court of Daisuke, these events will help to boost the morale of the people in the West.
As an outcome of the event, several upperclassmen are contributing towards the establishing of a commemoration hall in Daisuke. (1/10) Construction is estimated to finish within a two year timespan.
The Western Guard patrolling the lake are reinforcing their camps and barracks across their perimeter. (1/2) These fortificational upgrades should be complete by the end of the biennial event being currently held in Daisuke.
Additionally, the Western Guard that patrols the lake in boats has issued a call to arms to all sailors around the west. (1/1) The naval force is now doubled, counting about 60 boats of active fleet. They should be able to respond to any threat within a minute's notice. After the three week time period has expired, the locals will return to their everyday actions, reducing the size of the fleet back to its normal numbers.
Diplomatic Actions
All diplomatic missions are now stationed in Daisuke in favor of the biennial ambassadorial meeting. Once the event has been completed, the ambassadors of the coglomerate should have decided upon a deployment assignment for their diplomats, in order to boost their fragile relationships with their neighbours. The kings of the various tribes are positive that Q'rin, Kurubar, and Southern Kurubar are going to be the first canditates that the ambassadors would endorse as possible nations these missions visit.

Still no blood has been spilt, but insults and aggressions abound. The Injuoki and their few allies now seek assistance from those northern neighbours, the Kingdoms of Utos, in quelling the fights between their neighbouring tribes. However, with the leadership of Utos in such a blurred state, the discussions are slow. Meanwhile, with winter on the horizon, some concern exists over resources, and whether the distribution of them will lead to any further tensions.
Vatrugos:
The harvest season brings great jubilance to this powerful nation; the Vatrugi bask in their great feasts, indulging themselves in all manners of entertainment. While much of the nation is preoccupied with the construction of the temples in the north, there is still a sufficient number of farm-workers. Interestingly, the completion of the first of the temple-fortresses has coincided with this month of celebration and joy. The Vatrugi thank their deities and worship their nation as they live in a complete absence of concern about those feeble non-believers who surround their nation.
Erabas:
As lumber continues to leave the country, the first shipments of war materials finally arrive, to the great excitement of the Erabasian military and aristocracy. An intense training program is announced for the winter months, with any able-bodied men welcome to participate. This program will be held in three cities: Port Basquos, on the southern peninsula; Wytherton, on the northern coasts; Sentucia, the most powerful city of the inland south; and Eravington, the capital of the nation itself. In the meantime, however, harvests are to be collected. In the south, lords are informing farmers that they should be thankful if their crops were not ravaged by disease. Strangely, few crops, if any, seem to have actually been affected by an unordinary affliction.
brew.
Utos:
The southern kingdom of Tranmesia is an old and unique group, with many ties, both cultural and economic, to the Tribes of Sin’jok. The unrest amongst the neighbours is unsettling, and when asked by the honourable Injuoki to provide intervention on their behalf, the kingdom was quick to contact its representatives in the capitol. The southern kingdom of Tranmesia also happens to be the kingdom whence Queen Alyé hails. As such, it has found itself gaining permission to dispatch its local militia as it sees fit. So it is that these soldiers now await a call to action, while at the same time they are busy tending to their fields. Meanwhile, the Cantaraves work to rebuild.
Lewftehoffe:
Many generals march across the expanse of Maranavok to reach Lewftehoffe and join those of equal disposition. General Sinbar Truant begins to form a council to decide upon the course of expansion which shall be taken by the Lewftehoffe army; Olio Strath exits his retirement to join this council and add his sage advice.
Omantiosa:
As the Ksintiosan advance slows and, gradually, comes to a voluntary halt, the Omantiosans, empowered by the support of the Arenthians, begin to devote all of their efforts to blocking the far smaller front of the Kyrian invasion. Meanwhile, in the new capital, it has been decided that power shall be shared equally between the former leaders who managed to flee from the south, and those who administrated much of the north in recent times. This is not the most popular decision - many, holding a grudge against the southern leaders for their weakness, feel as though they should be entrusted with no more power than the average citizen - at best. Others whisper their inclination to have these leaders declared traitors to the nation.
Tsin:
The Tsin quickly managed to tie up the loose ends of their control in Omantiosan territories. The majority of the military has now been put in place to keep stability in the region, while what else remains has been sent northwards to strengthen the new border with the Ksintiosan Empire. Despite the small agreement of friendship, the Tsin are not yet fully trusting of their new northern neighbours. Thankfully, they are made to feel secure by the arrival of weaponry from the Island Nation of Fae-Qwan. Tsin is still a unified nation, but it is also a restless nation. It yearns for an important role on the world stage, and to do this, it hopes to expand its trade routes and diplomatic relations. Therefore, ambassadors are sent with gifts of finely engraved ceremonial swords to be delivered to the leaders of each nation which receives an ambassador. Unfortunately, there are not enough trusted diplomats, nor enough ships, for each nation to receive a gift immediately. Therefore, ships are first sent to the Ksintiosan Empire, Omantiosa, Arenthia, Fae-Qwan, T’ing-Mat’ao, and Q’rin.
Ksintiosan Empire:
The Ksintiosan Empire has long been one of good will and good favour. Emperor Yan-Sun is well-liked amongst his people, and his people are well-liked by him. However, the Kyrians, those neighbours to the north, are not so well received in recent times. While the conquest of Omantiosa has made the Ksintiosans appear strong and valiant, even they know that the overbearing force of the Kyrians to the north is one which must be met with an equally strong rebuke, else defeat shall overcome them. However, this sentiment is not strong enough in the conquered lands. Therefore, a large propaganda effort has begun, to convince the former Omantiosans, and any reluctant Ksintiosan natives, that the Kyrians are truly a most malevolent force. There are three main points to these efforts:
The Kyrians are led by a vicious, oppressive tyrant. Tales are told of the horrid conditions in which Kyrians must live, and of how cruel Amedeus himself must be.
The Kyrians are opportunistic and vile. Once Omantiosa was weakened, they attacked viciously and continue to do so now.
The Kyrians are an aggressive and violent force. The Kyrian-Mylanese alliance is an obvious threat, as is the sheer immensity of the Kyrian military.
The borders with Kyrik have only grown stronger in recent months, and this applies also to the new borders conquered from the defeated Omantiosans. These borders were home to some old fortresses, though for the most part, the Empire has chosen to build its own defences. Now, moving to the military itself, it suffices to say that what the Ksintiosan military lacks in size, it makes up for in skill, and now, experience. The total population of the Empire was 1.2 million; since incorporating the citizens of the conquered Omantiosan lands, this has grown to around 2.2 million. Thus, the military, comprising both the army and the navy of the Empire prior to conquering the Omantiosan territories, was a mere 300,000. Though the number of recruits garnered from the conquered lands is beyond negligible, the alterations to the military codes of the Empire have caused some fluctuations. With the acceptance of women into the navy, and with the heightened allure of conquest and glory on the battlefields, the military has grown to 450,000. This is split to around 100,000 in the navy, which is in fact a significantly larger portion of the total military than there was before. To accommodate this shift, more naval vessels have been and are being constructed. Meanwhile, the 350,000 members of the army are stationed across the territory in highly-organized units. While many were on the front lines of the Omantiosan conquest, they are now slowly being withdrawn; in fact, aggression against Omantiosa has all but stopped. Now, the army is being redistributed to the most vulnerable parts of the nation. While 75,000 work to stabilize the towns of Omantiosa, 20,000 are being stationed at the border with Tsin. Another 20,000 have set up along the border with Omantiosa. 115,000 have been recalled to the two home provinces, where they have been put to work at the borders. The remaining 120,000 soldiers are stationed along the large expanse of new border with Kyrik, where they are hard at work building fortresses and defences. Keep in mind that all 450,000 of these individuals are there by choice - were conscription to be put in place, the total military size might venture to over a million. Since all of these individuals are volunteers, and since the majority of them have experience on the battlefields of Omantiosa, their skill is very high; fittingly, their technology is to match. The most common weapon of the Ksintiosan Empire is the spear, paired with a large rectangular shield. Metal armour adorns many a soldier of these masses. Meanwhile, ranged weaponry is not to be ignored: crossbows and catapults are common on the battlefield, and in the defence of settlements, the frightening Yan-Sun's Scorpion is ripe for battle. On naval vessels, trebuchets and ballistae have largely replaced catapults or archers. For quicker movement on terrain, chariots and horses are often available in great number. It is worth noting that the cavalry of the Ksintiosan Empire was one of its greatest assets in the conquest of Omantiosa; armed with crossbow or spear, a rider is still made more dangerous by their speed. Returning to the navy, it is worth noting that the designs of ships are easily equal to if not superior to the Kyrian’s. Let it not be forgotten that these designs were most likely stolen from their northern neighbours. Therefore, it is fact that the Ksintiosan Empire, despite its relatively small size, shall be a foe worthy of nearly any enemy on the field.
Gualichos:
Lord Jun, upon receiving his wonderful porcelain vase, extols its virtues, and remarks upon the kindness of the Q’rin people. He speaks for several minutes on how fitting this vase is, and how wonderfully it shall sit in his palace. At last concluding his speech of gratitude, Lord Jun offers a beautiful piece of artwork in return, to be delivered to the governor of Dunhuang upon the return of the merchants who had delivered the vase. The artwork depicts a famous mythological battle in which a young warrior empowers his fellow citizens to overcome a tyrannic “Dragon-King”. Meanwhile, King Otsensen continues his persecution of coup members in the capital.
Tamlar:
Tamlar shares in the destruction wrought by a powerful hurricane upon its coasts. Many harbours are devastated, with many goods destroyed. The harvest is affected, but thankfully it had come early enough that much of the food has already been stored safely.
Kurubar:
The Kurubarians have made their proposal for a trade route. The route is to be operated year round, and it shall be defended by official military presences from each of the nations, with each nation being responsible for its own portions of the route. It will run from the Kurubarian capital up to a Kurubarian port city, from which it will extend along the coastal settlements of Riplentique, and then the same will occur in Tamlar. It will conclude its journey at the capital of Q’rin. In this way, the route will avoid the mountain raiders along the Riplent Mountain Range, and will strike most of important trading destinations in all four cities.
Southern Kurubar:
Efforts to establish peace in the annexed territory is difficult. Tamus Caelus, a successful war-chief of the Southern Kurubarians, has been given the task of establishing peace in this new land. He is working without pause to eradicate these rebels and create a new unity of these lands.
Other Events Worth Noting:
-The harvest season is upon us.
-Mylanese propaganda is effective in dissuading the people from supporting the Defenders of the Motherland. The day of celebration is also well received, both in the native land and in the annexed territories.
-The Kyrian harvest is small, and even though it was larger than expected, many families will go hungry this winter. Meanwhile, the upper classes begin to buy food in large quantities, causing a huge inflation in prices, which will only augment the paucity of nourishment.
-In the Q’rin capital, a new trend develops amongst the upper classes: the pre-emptive removal of a kidney to avoid the corruption of one’s Jing. Therefore, professional surgeons have begun charging higher rates for this procedure.
-Q’rin has suffered a large storm on its coasts. Damage is extensive and devastating.
-This same storm has also struck a small fleet of Fae-Qwan trading ships, thoroughly destroying them and their crews.
-The military starts to be built up under the new administration.
Infrastructure Actions:
-The wall halts construction due to the new government, infuriating Conflo.
-A grand canal starts to be constructed to allow ships to access Poesidu from the port cities.
Diplomatic Actions:
-The ship and gifts from Tsin are accepted although the diplomats are not allowed past the port city.
Political Actions:
-Another monthly election results in a narrow victory by the left-wing coalition, thus barring Conflo from doing anything he wants. Although not before editing the constitution so he can do all foreign policy.
Informal Actions:
-The people start collecting crops. It is a plentiful harvest this year.

-To prepare for unification ((see below)) with Indigosoki-Vontropanos, the military goes out in force to crush the remaining rebels, marching on any know rebel camps and combing the wilderness for any unknown. In the cities, soldiers fill the streets in search of any known dissidents. A reward is offered to any citizen who can identify a rebel and provide evidence of their guilt.
Infrastructure Actions:
-Military construction continues in former Indigosoki-Vontropanos.
Diplomatic Actions:
-The Mylanese delegation in Kurubar suggests that the trade route should stretch around the entire continent, going all the way from the capital of Mylanos to the capital of Q'rin and back again, cutting through the capitals and/or ports of every coastal nation. A road from Riplentique, through Mendratia, to Gualichos is also suggested. They argue that uniting all of the nations in trade could bring nothing but prosperity for all, and form or strengthen ties between the various countries.
((If that's confusing, here is a rough visual aid showing only the basic idea. The red is the main route, and the blue is the route from Riplentique to Gualichos.))
Informal Actions:
-A proclamation is issued in Indigosoki-Vontropanos. As a result of increasing stability in the region, all citizens of the former nation who publicly pledge themselves as loyal citizens of Mylanos shall be considered as such. They shall be treated as if they were born and raised in Mylanos. All of the rights, freedoms, and benefits granted to the Mylanese shall be afforded to them. This includes the ability to serve in the military, and in the process (as it is in Mylanos), attain positions in the government. The nation of Indigosoki-Vontropanos is dead, there is only Mylanos. Should this transition be peaceful, occupying military forces will gradually be recalled in the coming months ((posts)), to be replaced only with necessary defenders from the Home Guard.
-A second proclamation follows shortly thereafter, stating that anyone who refuses to pledge allegiance to Mylanos shall be provided free and safe passage to a nation of their choosing, if the nation will have them, via the vessels on loan from Kyrik, starting next month ((post)). The citizens have three months ((posts)) to decide. Nothing is officially said of what will happen to those who will neither pledge nor leave, but it wouldn't take much assumption to realize the outcome will not be pleasant. Amnesty is also granted to any rebels who surrender their weapons and pledge.
Military Actions: -Soldiers withdraw from Omatiosa, returning the land to its original owner, seeing as it did not fall apart as was predicted. Those who left the military to help with the harvest have returned, ready for service. Strangely, 200,000 soldiers have been brought out of commission for an unknown reason, though many link it to a new building near Boreal.
Infrastructure Actions: Soldiers improve the fortifications along hostile borders, as while as stocking the stronghold at Glade Summit. For reasons as of yet unknown, approximately 200,000 soldiers have been removed from commission and transported to a new building, erected near Boreal. Many assume the soldiers have been stuck with a sickness, as the cold season is approaching.
Informal Actions: -Infuriating! Ksintiosan has convinced Omatiosa that Kyrik, the nation that is combating the nation that attacked them, and let us not forget, provided shelter and supplies during the raids, is vile! The nation is astounded at this, though also marvels at Ksintiosan's diplomacy skills, because that feat is clearly remarkable! This has harbored much rage towards Ksintiosan, along with Ksintiosan's clear and utter disregard for "Peace, and good will with the Kyrians". Ksintiosan has showed no interest in peace, since the moment they have an upper hand, they pounce on the opportunity to steal Kyrik's naval prestige, and use it for their own ill-gotten gain.
Diplomatic Actions: -Kyrian diplomats are sent into what remains of Omatiosa, asking the locals aid in removing any remnants of the false propaganda from their brothers in the conquered territories minds, proofing them false with these points:
1. Ksintiosanattacked the nation with intention of wiping them off the planet!
2. Kyrik provided food and shelter when Omatiosa was under attack by Ksintiosan.
3. Allying with the nation that just tried to take you out is fool-hearty!
4. Ksintiosan is not a worthy adversary, they spread false propaganda, turned their back on their request for "Peace and good will with the Kyrians", and nation would likely turn their backs on Omatiosa too in the future.
Amedeus sends messages to the nations of Q'rin, T'ing M'atou, and Mylanos, requesting the support of food, and the opening of trade routes. Kyrik is willing to offer military aid to the nations of Q'rin and T'ing M'atou after its own war.

Actions of the Others (simplified):
Tribes of Sin'jok:

Mylanos
Military Actions:
Second Army:

Actions of the Others (simplified):
Tribes of Sin'jok:

Military Actions:

Actions of the Others (simplified):
Tribes of Sin'jok:
-T'ing-Ma'tao Republic-
Military Actions:

Mylanos
Military Actions:
Second Army:

1. Ksintiosan attacked the nation with intention of wiping them off the planet!
