This one would be neat. It could be an origin story of a team against a new threat.
Shrunken Survival
Survival's fun, but the world of microbes is neat. Parasites, insects, and many creatures that would gut humans. This could take place in a civilized environment. nature, or the human body.
Cryptids
Cryptid hunting. I could find a cool plot with his one.
Fantasy
Dragons, wizards, fairies and more. A classic fantasy would be fun galore.
Comment on which one you would join, if any, please!
Rather than comment on any one in specific and blindly say that I would like to partake in it, I think that I'll give my thoughts on all four.
Superheroes: This could definitely be interesting. If done correctly, superhero roleplays definitely have potential, as they can garner large crowds, employ the basic plot system of Good vs. Evil, and generally are easy to explain to an audience. An example of a superhero roleplay done well is Genetic Destiny, which, while not explicitly calling itself a superhero roleplay, definitely deals with powered individuals, which I presume to be what the concept here is as well. The issue here is that Genetic Destiny is alive and well - many people who are interested in a superhero roleplay (and let me add that not everyone is; for example, I have, in the past, considered them a bland and predictable roleplay type) will not be interested in your superhero roleplay because they already have one to which they are very committed and which they are very much enjoying. So, superhero roleplay in general? I believe you could probably make a pretty good one. Should you make one right now? I don't think so, but that's just my opinion.
Shrunken Survival: Sounds great! Survival roleplays often seem interesting to me because they usually have a unique twist; this is a case no different. Honestly, I think it's your best idea out of the four. Characters would probably be fun while remaining interesting, and since it seems as though this would be an open-world, open-plot roleplay, I think many roleplayers would be interested in joining. However, I would point out that you already have one or two survival roleplays which I think would operate on the same structure of "Humans transported to strange world must survive" (I only gather that about this one due to the word 'shrunken', which seems to signify that humans would be shrinking. I might be wrong on that, though.) If you think that you would get bored of a roleplay, I would suggest not making it, as I've seen too many good roleplays die because of this. Now, with you, I don't think this would be a problem, but it was the best critique I could find, so I decided to include it. (As an aside, I would not be inclined to lean towards joining or not joining this roleplay based on whether or not it involves humans shrinking or just small humans)
Cryptids: While I might have said that Shrunken Survival sounds like your best idea, I think this could be my favourite, depending on how it was made and run. Cryptid Hunting sounds like a basic concept upon which any variety of plots could be built (a team of various recruits and the dynamics therein; a highly-trained organization of hunters; a supernatural or mythological aspect; genetic mutation; etc.) and many of the possibilities would be enjoyable to me. One issue which I might see with this one is a lack of commitment to the plot. It doesn't seem like something which would have a very open-world, open-plot basis (which is fine with me), so what might happen is that people would become too engulfed in side-plots which would drag down momentum, preoccupy important characters, and perhaps prevent any real progress from being made. If this could be managed, then Cryptid Hunting would be a great possibility.
Fantasy: Many of the same problems of the Superhero idea are dragged over to this one, in that, while I agree that a classical high-fantasy concept is great, it has the possibility of becoming bland, and has the certainty of competition. In this case, there are two which I can think of immediately, these being TRPG (of which I am not a part) and The Conflict of Terma (of which I most certainly am). Obviously, TRPG is the far more active of the two (for now... mwahahaha...), and it also seems the more similar to the concept which you have outlined above, except in that your concept would seemingly be less structured (in my opinion, that is usually a good thing with this type of roleplay; opposite for superhero ones, which should be structured extensively to keep people in check). Conflict of Terma is airing a tad less on the side of magic and magical creatures (again, for now), and more on the side of people, politics, and exploration. I'm not sure where your fantasy roleplay would go, but I am worried that it might not make it there if there is too much competition. Again, these are only my opinions, and I'm sure that if you put the work into it, this sort of roleplay could go far.
In conclusion, I think you have a great menagerie of ideas, a few of which I would seriously consider joining. I suppose the best advice I can give is to say, "Go whence thy interests are called!"
Ranking:
4. Superheroes: I don't doubt that you could find a niche for this one, but I know it's the one that I would be the least likely to join.
3. Fantasy: Again, I would be unlikely to join this one, due to my other roleplaying commitments. If you can make this unique enough and engaging enough, I would reconsider.
2. Shrunken Survival: A great twist to a reliable concept. It could definitely work, and I think it might attract the most committed roleplayers.
1. Cryptids Hunters: This would be most likely to pique my interests; the more varied the characters can be, the more likely that I would join. Personally, I like the idea of a "Gallery of Rogues"-type team, with various characters of hugely different backgrounds.
Finally, before you make any of these, I think you should post on Far Survival.
Haha- I'll post on far survival. I've just been caught up with school recently. Sorry about that.
Shrunken survival would be about humans shrinking down, but what environment would you be most likely to join? Being shrunk in a forest is vastly different to being shrunk in a bloodstream.
I was thinking that if I do Cryptid Hunters, it would be a group of people who are formed to hunt down cryptids (obviously.). But the plot could be that with each cryptid they hunt for, the piece of a bigger mystery is solved. With each expedition the plot unravels.
1. No worries! I've actually been having a pretty light semester, I suppose, so my concept of time is skewed.
2. Honestly, I wouldn't mind a bloodstream, a forest, a city, or a single, huge building. Anything with enough interesting environments (So probably not a desert) would be fine with me.
3. That's pretty much exactly what I envisioned when I read about the Cryptid Hunters concept. It still sounds pretty good.
